Texas Heartbeat Law is Saving So Many Babies From Abortion Planned Parenthood Calls it “Devastating”

When your business is to sell abortions and abortions banned, business isn’t good. That’s the problem the Planned Parenthood abortion company is having in the state of Texas, where, as LifeNews reported over a week ago, state health department statistics show thousands of babies being saved from abortion every month.

A new report from the Texas health department confirms the state’s new abortion ban is saving as many as 90 babies from abortions each and every day. With the Texas heartbeat law having been in effect since September 1, that means as many as 13,860 babies have been saved from abortions in Texas.

new report from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) confirms a substantial drop in abortions in September 2021 after implementation of the Texas Heartbeat Act. The state agency reported a total of 2,197 abortions in Texas after the ban took effect, compared to  an astonishing 5,404 abortions committed the month before.

The 2,197 abortions in September represents a 60% decrease in abortions. Before the Texas Heartbeat Act, there were more than 160 abortions committed each day in Texas. In September, this plummeted to around 70 each day.

While most people would think babies being born is a good thing, not Planned Parenthood — which called this good news “devastating.”

Planned Parenthood called the numbers “the very beginning of the devastating impact” of the law.

Leading pro-life groups are elated by the news that more babies will be alive.

“The data confirms that the Texas Heartbeat Act has saved thousands of lives,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Even greater potential is ahead as we await the Supreme Court’s decision in the Dobbs case, which could restore the right of all states to modernize our laws and protect unborn children and mothers prior to viability. Seventy-one percent of Americans want far greater limits on abortion than the Court’s precedents currently allow. If the Court finally unshackles the people and their elected representatives, as it should, for the first time in generations they will have the opportunity to enact their consensus in the law and save countless little boys and girls waiting to be born.”

But the Planned Parenthood reaction is not surprising given the fact that Planned Parenthood killed 354,000 babies in abortions in the most recent year for which its annual report was available. As LifeNews reported last year, its 2019 annual report shows it aborted over 354,000 babies, an increase of over 9,000 babies killed in abortions compared to the year before. And the 2018 annual report showed Planned Parenthood killed 332,757 babies in abortions, which itself was an increase of 3.51% from the year prior.

That means Planned Parenthood killed almost 34,000 more unborn babies than it did two years ago — even though the abortion giant claims it’s main focus is merely women’s health care.

Planned Parenthood just sells abortions, which explains its reaction to the Texas abortion ban success, as it hardly ever provides actual help and support for pregnant women or adoption assistance.

Its own annual report shows Planned Parenthood provided less contraception, sterilizations, cancer screenings, adoption referrals and other women’s health services than the previous year.

According to its own figures, Planned Parenthood contraception services decreased two percent from 2,620,867 in 2017 to 2,556,413 in 2018 and they have dropped 33% over the last ten years as more women are given abortion than pregnancy options.

Actual women’s health care services have dropped as well. Over the last 10 years, total services at Planned Parenthood have fallen 10 percent from 10,943,609 in 2008 to 9,82,1548 in 2018. Specifically, pap smears and tests decreased almost seven percent from 274,145 in 2017 to 255,682 in 2018. They have decreased 72 percent in the last 10 years.

Breast exams have dropped nearly 11% from 296,310 in 2017 to 265,028 in 2018 even as Planned Parenthood claims it’s helping women prevent breast cancer. The number of breast exams at Planned Parenthood, which women can do on their own or at any legitimate medical provider, dropped 68% from 826,197 in 2008 to 265,028 in 2018. An total cancer screenings have dropped almost 8% from the last annual report, 614,361 in 2017 to in 566,186 2018. In the last 10 years, cancer screenings have dropped 69% from 1,849,691 in 2008 to 566,186 in 2018.

The abortion business also does less prenatal care than it used to. While it killed 345,672 babies in abortions, it helped only 9,798 with prenatal care — killing over 35 babies for every woman it helped with prenatal care. And prenatal care has dropped 68% from its 2010 figures, when it claimed it helped 31,098 women in 2010.

The Planned Parenthood abortion company also helps few women with adoption referrals. While it killed 345,672 babies in abortions, it helped only 4,279 women with adoption referrals in 2018 — killing 80 babies for every woman it helped with adoption.

Finally, the number of well-woman exams Planned Parenthood did in 2018 dropped almost 2% from the prior year.

Texas Abortion Ban Saved 3,200 Babies the First Month, Now Every State Should Follow Suit State | Laura Echevarria | Feb 11, 2022 | 3:34PM | Washington, DC

Texas Abortion Ban Saved 3,200 Babies the First Month, Now Every State Should Follow Suit

The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of affiliates in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, today praised a report published by Texas Health and Human Services Commission showing that abortions in the Lonestar State dropped by 60% in the first month after the state’s Heartbeat Act went into effect. The law was championed by National Right to Life’s state affiliate, Texas Right to Life.

According to the Commission, in August 2021, there were more than 5,400 abortions statewide. In September, after the Texas Heartbeat Act was allowed to go into effect, the number of abortions dropped to just under 2,200.

“Nearly 3,200 children were saved in just one month following enactment of the Texas Heartbeat Act and more have been protected in the months since,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “We applaud Texas Right to Life for leading the charge to protect Texas mothers and their unborn children from the tragedy of abortion.”

Under the Texas Heartbeat Act, abortions may not be performed after the unborn child’s heartbeat is detectable – generally around the sixth week of pregnancy. Fetology textbooks show that the heart begins to beat in the developing child between 18 and 21 days after fertilization.

Since 1990 when the original artwork was unveiled at the “Rally for Life,” National Right to Life’s long-running Media Impact Campaign has continually worked to educate Americans that “Abortion Stops a Beating Heart.” That simple truth has appeared on bumper stickers, billboards, television, and radio ads, print ads, t-shirts, and countless other places in the intervening 30 years.

“Our nation’s laws need to follow the science, and the science tells us that abortion stops the heartbeat of a living, unborn baby,” said Tobias. “We look forward to the day when the heartbeats of all unborn children are protected by our laws.”

Woman Who Survived Abortion: “I Celebrate the Day I Was Accidentally Born” Opinion | Maria Gallagher | Feb 11, 2022 | 2:33PM | Washington, DC

Woman Who Survived Abortion: “I Celebrate the Day I Was Accidentally Born”

His reaction was stunning, but not necessarily surprising, given what little attention has been paid to babies who survive abortions.

After interviewing an abortion survivor for the Positively Pro-Life! podcast, I asked the producer if he had ever heard of babies surviving abortions. He answered “No.”

But the fact of the matter is, babies have been known to survive abortions. One of them is the subject of a recent episode of my podcast. Melissa Ohden is a beautiful woman who is the founder and director of the Abortion Survivors Network, an organization which advocates for individuals who, as babies, survived abortions.

Melissa has been in touch with more than 500 abortion survivors throughout the world. “My story is the story of so many people,” she says. “I celebrate the day that I was accidentally born alive.”

Melissa’s mother underwent an abortion she did not want. She was forced to undergo a saline abortion—a type of abortion which is not performed much anymore. Melissa soaked in a toxic salt solution for several days. On the fifth day she was accidentally born alive. Melissa, who was adopted, learned about the circumstances of her birth as a teenager, and has since been reunited with her birth mother.

When addressing people who promote abortion, Melissa says, “It’s important that we lead with love.” She recognizes that people who have been impacted by abortion often experience profound emotional pain, a pain that can result in trying to silence abortion survivors.

Melissa notes that every day is a battle to get the word out about those precious human beings who have survived abortions. You can read her story in the book You Carried Me: A Daughter’s Memoir. Her second book, spotlighting the stories of other abortion survivors, will be published later this year.
