A Prayer When Autumn Is Full of Grief

Autumn used to be my favorite season, but now it is filled with grief, mourning, and pain. It used to brighten up my heart with the colorful leaves, the cool air, and the magic of the season; however, everything changed when my mom passed away in the middle of autumn. For years, I hated the month of October because it only reminded me of her passing. 

It took many years before I could cope with this season again. I have made progress and no longer associate it with complete darkness in my life. As believers, we don’t need to be afraid of grief, as it is a normal part of loving and losing someone. Grief is the outpouring of all the love you had for that person. Therefore, we don’t need to be ashamed or embarrassed to admit that we are going through grief because it only demonstrates the love we have for the person who is no longer with us. 

The Lord tells us, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). This passage is part of Jesus’ larger teaching known as the Beatitudes. During the Beatitudes, we see the Lord stating various, “blessed are those” statements in order to bring comfort and insight to His listeners. For this particular beatitude, Jesus says those who mourn are blessed for they will be comforted.

The comfort Jesus is speaking of is the comfort of God Himself. Whenever we are grieving, He wraps us up in His love. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and He will heal our wounds (Psalm 147:3). Whenever the pain, sorrow, and grief are overwhelming, turn to God and know that He will give you the comfort you need. 

I have seen this to be true in my own life as well as in the lives of my family members. Over time, I have also seen how God’s comfort has helped me to comfort others who are grieving, just as Paul says in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5. Grief changes us and makes us more empathic and understanding towards others. As believers, we have the privilege of extending the comfort we receive from God to those around us.

If you, too, associate the season of autumn with grief, know that it is okay. You are not alone! Rather than running from or ignoring the pain, turn to the Lord, pour out your heart to Him, and find comfort in His love. He will give you all the comfort and hope that you need to keep going.

Let’s Pray:

Dear Jesus,

Autumn is full of grief this year, and it makes me deeply sorrowful. I don’t want to be filled with this sadness anymore, but I know it is part of the love I have for my loved one who passed away. Please help me accept grief rather than fighting it off. Equip my heart and soul to be open to your love, encouragement, and hope rather than turning to self-isolation or dissociation. Thank You for Your comfort and for giving my heart everything it needs to keep going. I truly am blessed because I am comforted by You. Autumn is full of grief, but it is also filled with beauty. Help me to see this beauty around me and to bring comfort to others just as You have done for me. I know the pain they’re feeling, and I want to help them through these struggles.

I thank You and I praise You, Lord.

Amen.

Earlier this week, Congressman Randy Fine introduced a ‘No Sharia’ act. As Europe has proven, growing influence of muslim communities means this is a question we’ll have to grapple with sooner rather than later.

News in Dearborn just this weekend involves a police chief praising Allah in Arabic and bragging that 50% of the cops are Muslim. Which happens to be the same city in which Savannah Hernandez reported about a pastor addressed city council objecting to a local street being named after a terrorist, and the Mayor rebuked him telling him he wasn’t welcome in Dearborn.

Can American citizens be certain their rights will be upheld without fear or favor in an environment like this one? And what recourse would they have to redress wrongs?

In the UK, cops are ripping the national flag out of the hands of sixteen-year-old girls after failing to protect the massive rape scandal for fear of being outed as ‘bigots’. One man in traditional jewish dress is told by cops he can’t be in an area because his mere presence could inflame the crowd to violence.

And now, their health service has been bullied into proclaiming as ‘beneficial’ the intermarriage of first-cousins, despite the obvious negative implications you don’t need a labcoat to figure out.

Their country is a long way down the road to the very ideological capture that Mark Steyn once warned about in his book ‘America Alone’ where he cited Arabic scholars bragging in some rather provocative language and metaphors that got him in trouble with the Canadian government merely for citing it, that they could conquer Western nations simply by leveraging population pressures.

We have their leaders emboldened to the point that they are proclaiming that they will prevail over the West ‘by the ballot or the bullet’ and that there is no third option.

The video below has various leaders imploring their followers to leverage the Democratic process to destroy the democratic process and make Sharia the law of the land.

Before it was the sword, now it is by getting themselves into Parliament and then making laws that act as the sword…

… ballot or bullet, nothing in between…

… participation in democracy is our jihad…

One need look no further than Dearborn or Minnesota to see that principle in action, but make no mistake, they are actively making plans to set up population centres around the country, including Texas, Florida, and so-called ‘flyover country’.

It’s possible that some of these European countries have already collapsed under the weight of their own self-rightesous ideas of ‘tolerance’, and will soon be ruled by the will of those who have no interest in either their democratic norms or their personal and religious freedoms.

But one Congressman is trying to get ahead of this issue in making laws expressly forbidding Sharia as antithetical to the US Constitution, which, strictly speaking, is an accurate statement.

Last week, he posted:

I just introduced the No Sharia Act, which would ensure that no U.S. court, public agency, or legal institution can ever enforce or legitimize Sharia law.

You don’t get to come to this country and demand that our legal system accommodate your oppressive laws.

His critics have downplayed his (impressive) credentials from the beginning, blowing him off as ‘just’ a TV guy. The changes he’s making to the Armed Forces are exactly why the insiders raged against him.

It’s easy to forget the mass purges of military personnel in the Obama (and later, the Biden years), and how tweaks to policy made sure that people happy to echo Uniparty establishment talking points and activist causes du jour found their way into positions of authority.

That, paired with the explicitly partisan ‘training programs’ that men and women who volunteered to serve where forced to learn and internalize, went a long way to enacting precisely the kind of ‘Fundamental Transformation’ one might expect a man who launched his political career in the living room of a former member of the Weather Underground would envision.

Such a vision may well serve a political agenda, but it does precious little to fulfill the mandate of the Federal Government to ‘provide for the common defence’ envisioned by the Founders and Framers.

The man who literally wrote the book on ‘The War on Warriors’ called his top brass to Virginia, where he could make an announcement about a pivot the American Military is taking to recapture the Warrior Ethos.

And for all the crying and moaning about how he is destroying the military or backing Trump in [insert current ‘literally Hitler accusation here], his speech makes it clear that what he is announcing is not actually a list of new policies.

It’s a new commitment to uphold the existing ones. Remember to ask about that the next time an MSNBC drone rages about Hegseth’s ‘dangerous’ new precedents.

Here’s the full 45 min speech in his own words, so you can answer any out-of-context clips they might throw our way.

Some of the highlights of his speech are summarized below, to give readers a flavor of what was said.

To ensure peace, we must prepare for war. Rome knew it. Washington knew it. We know it. That’s why war readiness is now the singular focus of the War Department. Preparing to fight and preparing to win.

Peace through strength. We must be ready to fight any war we choose, or any war that is thrust upon us. ‘To our enemies: FAFO’ We are the strength part of ‘peace through stregth’.

We need you to be the best, most capable and qualified leaders. We have focused on the wrong things in the past.

No more promotions based on politics, race or gender quotas. No more risk-averse models promoting milquetoast go-along-to-get-along political yes-men.

We are done with woke distractions. But there’s a deeper problem, with a simple solution. Would I want my son to join this military. Golden Rule test. ‘Do unto your unit as you would do to your own child’s unit’.

Application of standards.
Must be uniform… gender-neutral… and high. Either you are disciplined, fit, and trained, or you are out. Every requirement returns to the highest male standard only. Combat field test, and leaders must conform to fitness tests twice a year… hard PT every day.
Grooming standards, professional standards. Unless you are special forces.
‘Toxic’ leaders. High standards is not ‘toxic’, it is our duty per our oath. Real toxic leaders are those who tolerate lesser standards that endanger their units.
Full review of policy language like ‘toxic’ and ‘hazing’ so they are not ridiculous.
This is not about banning women from serving. But interested women must meet the same high standards that will cull out the weaker men.

Third — Ending Risk-averse culture.,/strong> ‘No more walking on eggshells’
Ending anonymous complaints, frivolous complaints and attempts to sandbag a career with meaningless allegations.

Let leaders pass the ‘golden rule test’ and removing the permanent documenting of past blunders if made in good faith.

Promotions on Merit only.

Firing of senior officers — it’s nearly impossible to change a culture without changing the people who made it.

An entire generation of military men and women were bullied by elected officials into accepting absurdities that made them weaker. Like ‘diversity’ is our strength, rather than unity. Or that there is no difference between men and women. People were fired for implementing those policies.

The sooner we have the right people, the sooner we’ll have the right policies. No more distractions, no more politics.

We must train and maintain. Reducing manditory courses, pivoting to an emphasis in combat readiness and competence. ‘Every marine a rifleman’

Aside from the Gulf War, we haven’t won a war since the name was changed to the Defense Department after WWII. We are training warriors and not defenders. War is something we do sparingly with clear objectives. You kill people and break things for a living. We are purpose built to do the hard things and deliver justice on behalf of the American military.

For The Time Of True Darkness Has Been Broken...

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know I am a sinner. I pray that you will forgive me for all of my sins, that you will come into my heart and be my Lord, the savior of my life. I confess that you died on the cross to save me from my sins and I am committed to turning away from those sins. I ask that you fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can be born again. I ask that you give me the strength and abundant faith to overcome any and all attacks by the enemy, including my desire to sin so that I may serve you completely.

I pray that you will give me discernment so that I may know all things that are truth, and the knowledge acquired from reading your Word. Use me this day as I am a willing vessel Lord, in leading others to your kingdom. Wash me as white as snow. Put a hedge of protection around me as I go forth in doing your will. Thank you Jesus for saving me, as I know that only through my faith in you that all this is possible. Amen

The road you have chosen will not be an easy one, for now you are a Child of God. However, know this: you will never be alone ever again.

For The Holy Spirit will be placed inside your soul and take residence within you forever. He will be your guide, your lifelong connection to God through our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. God has bestowed upon you a wonderful blessing, my friend.
