White House Press Briefing with Sean Spicer 5/1/17

During a press briefing this afternoon, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer offered some moderate praise for Kim.
In the briefing, Spicer was asked about President Donald Trump’s recent comments that he would be “honored” to meet with Kim “under the right circumstances.” Spicer was questioned about why the president said he would feel honored to meet with a dictator like
Responding to these questions, Spicer suggested that Kim is in some ways an impressive leader because he assumed office at a young age and fended off “potential threats” that came his way.
“He’s obviously managed to lead a country forward,” Spicer said. “Despite the obvious concerns that we and so many other people have, he is a young person to be leading a country with
Spicer also said, when asked about Trump’s apparent praise of that “He’s still a head of state” and that there’s “still a diplomatic piece of this.”
However, Spicer suggested that there will not be a meeting between President Donald Trump and Kim anytime soon; Spicer said that the circumstances would have to be right, and they clearly aren’t at this time.
“We’ve got to see their provocative behavior wretched down immediately,” Spicer said. “There’s a lot of conditions that would have to happen with respect to its behavior, and to show signs of good faith. Clearly the conditions are not there right now.”
