Moments ago, Fox News senior reporter Chad Pergram said the Democrats do not have the votes to call witnesses and continue the impeachment trial.
“Senate does not appear to have the votes to open the door to witnesses tomorrow night. Collins and Romney for witnesses. Alexander opposed. Even if Murkowski is a yes, they don’t have the votes. 50-50 vote is a tie, which by rule, fails," he tweeted.
He also posted a followup tweet saying that the math is DRASTICALLY in favor of Republicans:
"Reminder that Senate breakdown is 53-47 in favor of the GOP Can lose Collins and Romney supporting witnesses, and maybe even Murkowski. Math would still work even on a tie to keep the door closed on witnesses tomorrow. The Senate would then vote for verdicts on both articles."
This all but confirms that impeachment is facing an imminent DEATH in the Senate!
