Public hearing set for Monday
PHOENIX (ChurchMilitant.com) - Arizona lawmakers will hold a public hearing on Monday to hear testimony and view evidence related to election integrity.
The live streamed hearing, which is open to the public, will be chaired by Arizona Rep. Mark Finchem and attended by a "number of House and Senate members on the hearing panel."
In a media advisory, Finchem explained that the reasons for the hearing predate Election Day:
Since shortly before the 2020 election, a number of my colleagues and I have been examining potential fraud pathways and illegal actions through which our 2020 election could become tainted. My worst fears have come to light in the process, and so far the evidence has been blocked from an official public forum.
According to GOP members of the state legislature, the hearing's purpose is "to gather the evidence that justifies calling a special session to contemplate what happened and take immediate action accordingly."
John Yep, former Arizona state director for CatholicVote.org 2020 election and one of the organizers of the event, told Church Militant that this hearing is a kind of end-around the state legislature and governor who are ready to certify without hearing the evidence:
The Arizona legislature gave the organizers the cold shoulder on having an official hearing; so it was decided to have a private one. Then, to their surprise, [the] Trump legal team committed to coming. This is a first step to getting them to have an official one where they could decide not to send the 11 electoral votes, should the election prove to be fraudulent.
Yep added, "While we are having this exposé on Monday, Republican governor Ducey will be certifying the election just minutes away in another building."
Yep emphasized that the governor's certification doesn't mean it's the end of the road. The state legislature, he noted, has the authority to overrule the certification and choose its own electors by the power invested in them by the Constitution.
Finchem went deeper into the reasons for the hearing and the type of evidence they'll be examining:
After a review of the statistical anomalies, ... affidavits of improper actions and community outrage that has grown out of what appears to voters to be an attempt to throw the election through a number of fraudulent efforts, we decided as a members of the legislature and not as members of any specific committee that we should move forward with a public hearing.
The Trump campaign announced on Tuesday that members of Arizona's legislature would hold an urgent public hearing on Nov. 30 to air all voting irregularities and claims of fraud — despite Arizona's legislative heads dragging their feet.
Jenna Ellis, senior legal advisor to the Trump campaign, said her team is delighted to be given the opportunity to explain their findings.
"We are pleased that the state legislatures in Pennsylvania, Arizona and Michigan will be convening hearings to examine the Nov. 3 presidential election," beamed Ellis.
Finchem also noted Arizona's chief lawmakers have not been keen on discussing potential voter fraud in the recent election while the electoral clock is ticking.
"A few weeks ago I requested approval for the House Federal Relations Committee to hold a hearing on the integrity of the Arizona 2020 election," related Finchem. "That hearing has not yet been approved by House leadership, and time is of the essence to show proof that our election has been compromised."
On Friday, Ellis tweeted her anticipation of the event: "Arizona state legislature to hold hearing on election integrity Monday, Nov. 30. Mayor @RudyGiuliani and I will be present on behalf of President @realDonaldTrump."
Lead lawyer of the Trump team, Rudy Giuliani, also looks forward to the opportunity.
"It's in everyone's interest to have a full vetting of election irregularities and fraud," Giuliani stated. "And the only way to do this is with public hearings, complete with witnesses, videos, pictures and other evidence of illegalities from the Nov. 3 election."
But this is apparently news to the state's leaders. Senate President Karen Fann, House Speaker Rusty Bowers, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and Gov. Doug Ducey are all seemingly in the dark about Monday's hearing.
Unnamed state senators were perturbed by the news.
"There is no legitimacy to that claim, and there are no hearings being held on that issue on Monday or any other day," they were reported to say.
The well-hyped hearing, which will be held at a Hyatt Regency in Phoenix, has not been approved by any formal committee in the Arizona State Senate or House of Representatives. It also does not appear on either of its official calendars.
Each county in Arizona has certified its results, and Nov. 30 is the same day the state is set to officially certify its vote total and appoint its electors, who are to cast their votes for president on Dec. 14.
Stop the Steal organizers and activists are calling on all patriots to head down to Arizona for a series of rallies over the weekend in addition to attending the public hearing on Monday in Phoenix. Doors open at the Hyatt in Phoenix at 8 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start.
