Nearly 200 municipal leaders gathered in New Orleans this week for CAM's annual North American Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism.
Keynote speakers included New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Nominee Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun, and New York City Mayor Eric Adams, among others. In his address, Adams announced two new executive orders to protect houses of worship and counter anti-Israel boycott initiatives.
Through a series of educational presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, participating mayors learned about modern-day manifestations of antisemitism, shared best practices, and devised innovative strategies for securing and nurturing Jewish life in their cities.
Los Angeles Synagogue Vandalized by Protesters
A Los Angeles synagogue was vandalized by demonstrators during a protest on Wednesday.
The incident at Wilshire Boulevard Temple came only two weeks after antisemitic chants and calls for violence were documented at a protest outside Park East Synagogue in New York City.
The new trend of synagogues being targeted by anti-Israel activists highlights the growing normalization of antisemitic intimidation and incitement in American society that must be met with vigilance, preventative action, and firm response by municipal and law enforcement authorities.
Other incidents recorded around the world this week by the Antisemitism Research Center (ARC) by CAM included:
- Australia: Vandals spray-painted buildings and bollards with antisemitic graffiti in North Bondi, near Sydney.
- Canada: White nationalists performed Nazi salutes during a march in Hamilton, Ontario.
- Nepal: An Israeli tourist was attacked in Kathmandu by a group of men who heard him speaking Hebrew.

Northwestern University agreed to pay the U.S. Treasury $75 million over three years to resolve federal investigations into its handling of antisemitism on campus. This marked the latest result of the Trump administration’s push to hold higher education institutions accountable for the safety and welfare of Jewish students and faculty.
