The Obama administration introduced a threatening rule last week that promises to strip away federal contracts from religious or charity organizations that hold to traditional views of gender and sexuality, according to The Washington Times.
“Security Adviser Susan E. Rice said the rule prohibits organizations that contract with the U.S. Agency for International Development from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in the administration of aid,” the report states.
As Rice said in a speech about this rule last week at American University, “The United States also needs to do more to institutionalize efforts to promote LGBT rights.” She added:
“As part of that commitment, I’m pleased to note that just yesterday a new rule went into effect that explicitly prohibits discrimination by USAID contractors. This rule means that any organization that contracts with USAID must ensure that all people can benefit from its federally funded programs, regardless of race, religion, disability — or sexual orientation and gender identity. It’s a major step toward ensuring that American assistance is provided in a fair and equitable manner.”
For many Catholic and other religious humanitarian efforts, funding from USAID totals $16 billion every year that the charities then use to build schools, treat disease, and ease poverty around the world. Advocates for the LGBT community aim to see these threat expand “across all U.S. foreign affairs agencies to “include nondiscrimination policies that cover not only the services they provide but also the people they hire,” as Human Rights Campaign director David Stacy said.
“HRC will also continue to advocate for similar protections for LGBTQ people served by other U.S. foreign agencies including the Department of State in order to ensure that American dollars are never used to enable discrimination.”
But the charities themselves are concerned about the government overreach and how that will impact the work they do. Heritage Foundation’s Roger Severino said, “Of course everyone that is eligible for aid should receive it, but the new rule is a solution in search of a problem and threatens religious aid organizations that provide vital services in reasonable and culturally sensitive ways.”
“For example, disaster relief agencies may now be required to open their women’s shower and sleeping facilities to biological males who self-identify as women or be stripped of all funding for alleged ‘gender identity discrimination,’” he said.
Likewise, president of Catholic Vote Brian Burch said these sanctions are “exceptionally worrisome” and shows government hostility towards religious organizations and threatens religious liberty:
“I think it’s the height of hypocrisy, particularly on the part of the LGBT movement, that said, less than two years ago, that the only thing they wanted was to be able to marry the person they love. Well, that’s clearly not all they want.”
That wasn’t all that President Obama wanted either — that is AFTER he didn’t approve of same-sex marriage. He has vowed to veto the National Defense Authorization Act “if it contains a provision protecting religious organizations from discrimination in the issuance of federal grants and contracts,” as the Times states.
“Time and again, we see that when the LGBT agenda conflicts with religious liberty, according to President Obama, religious liberty must lose,” Severino added. “Every day, people of faith are contributing to society — sweat, money, education, effort and love — in a way that government simply can’t do. They’re indispensable, and they have to be a part of the equation.”
Besides all of the good these organizations do for the poor and needy around the world, this charitable work contributes $1.2 trillion to the U.S. economy, making the president’s assault on religious liberty a bit “misguided,” as Severino stated.

Mental-Health Advocates Shutting Down ‘Psycho-Ward’ Halloween Themes Everything is off-limits for the easily offended.

Mental-Health Advocates Shutting Down ‘Psycho-Ward’ Halloween Themes

Everything is off-limits for the easily offended.

Monday is Halloween, and that means it’s time for the psych ward to empty a bunch of maniacal patients into the streets to terrorize the neighborhood. But not so fast, says mental-health advocates, it’s time to stop misrepresenting the mentally ill as something to be feared.
As political correctness continues to lurch forward unfettered across the nation, Halloween attractions and costumes have come under fire for its negative depictions of mental health patients. In many cases, the complaints are working, and asylum-themed haunted houses are being shut down, and costumes are being pulled from shelves.
The Washington Post spoke with Joubert, a college freshman who was diagnosed at 15 with dissociative identity disorder (which has been renamed from multiple personality disorder because now that’s offensive, too, apparently). Joubert was bothered by an asylum-based attraction she saw at an amusement park:
“One thing that stuck out to me is that one of the actors said, ‘The voices in my head are telling me you’re going to die.’ That stuck out to me. I hear voices and it made me feel like I was being misrepresented,” she said. But even more than that, she said, she feared that the gross dramatization of inpatient facilities will scare people, especially teens like herself, from seeking help.
There are examples of asylum-based Halloween attractions all over the country. Every year at this time, right next to the chainsaw-wielding masked men and flesh-eating zombies, are the mental hospital patients. The message isn’t subtle: People with mental illness are to be feared.
But this year, under pressure from mental-health advocates, haunted attractions big and small have begun to change names and descriptions of — or have shut down completely — scenes that depicted mental illness as frightening. The activism is part of a broader, burgeoning movement to lift the stigma about mental illness, which has long led to social and employment discrimination.
Complaints such as Joubert’s caused that attraction, “7th Ward Asylum,” to be renamed “Urgent Scare.” But for others, the doors have been shuttered as the Post notes:
Recently, Cedar Fair, which operates 13 parks across the country, shut down an attraction called “FearVR: 5150,” featured at its parks in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Toronto, after a father — whose son with schizophrenia was beaten to death by police — called attention to it, according to the Los Angeles Times. The attraction got its name from the California police code 5150 for when someone is suspected of having a mental-health condition.
A Cedar Fair Entertainment spokesperson said in an email that its “evening attractions are designed to be edgy, and are aimed at an adult-only audience.” The spokesman said the intent was “never to portray mental illness,” but it closed the attraction because it was “impossible to address both concerns and misconceptions in the Halloween time frame.”
Another example in the report is of a mother who took “her two young children to a Halloween theme park” in Missouri and saw an attraction called “Asylum Island.” The mom said she had to explain to her kids that shock treatments and lobotomies aren’t things mental illness patients like herself normally go through:
“'Mom has an illness, you’ve met friends of mine that have an illness.' I felt frustrated, I try so hard to destigmatize mental illness that I found it so frustrating that these images are still out there.”
Again, the park closed that attraction and one nearby after a few complaints. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) keeps a running list of offenses from parks and civic centers across America.
Six Flags is feeling that pressure and renaming some of its attractions, like “Psycho-Path Haunted Asylum” to “The Forgotten Laboratory.” Also, the company changed the description of its “Massacre Medical Center” in Illinois from “local asylum” to “local medical center.” A spokesperson said, “Fright Fest is a long-time staple at our parks, and our haunted attractions are designed for entertainment purposes only. When we realized that some of the theming and descriptions might have perpetrated certain stereotypes, we took immediate action as it was never our intention to offend.”
Those crying discrimination are equating this misrepresentation to products like Aunt Jemima syrup and using images of blackface as some companies did in early 20th-century advertising.
Costumes are getting the boot, too. No longer is it acceptable to wear a straightjacket or be strapped to a hospital bed. Walmart was forced to remove a “suicide scar wound” application from its website and the costume company who made it pulled it from theirs, as well. Both companies apologized.
NAMI spokesperson Mary Giliberti said:
“This isn’t just about feelings, it’s about health care. I think many people who have these conditions realize there is a social discrimination and stigma against them and they internalize that … then to come to a ride and have that reinforced. You know this would never happen for other health conditions. You wouldn’t have a Halloween attraction about a cancer ward. It is mocking something that is a very serious illness.
“I realize that some think our protests are political correctness run amok but when you know people who are afraid of seeking treatment because they don’t want to be seen as ‘loonies,’ you understand just how harmful these costumes can be.”

NY Daily News Labels Director Comey 'FBI's Mad Bomber'

"Comey must go"

FBI Director James Comey's announcement to reopen the investigation on Hillary's emails struck a bitter chord with the NY Daily News, which published an angry Halloween front page labeling Comey the "FBI's Mad Bomber."
The front page features a candid photo of the FBI director during his congressional hearings grinning like the Mad Hatter at a very merry un-birthday party. The three bullet points accompanying the disparaging headline read as follows:
  • NEWS SAYS: Reckless Comey must go
  • Expert: Only criminal if classified emails
  • Fed agents knew of laptop weeks ago
This type of gauche hyperbole has become the modus operandi at the NY Daily News in recent years, a dwindling news publication whose massive layoffs and declining readership have forced them to go for broke with nonsensical headlines of the National Enquirer variety, like "NRA's Sick Jihad," "Trump is anti-Christ," and "Drop Dead, Ted Cruz."
The publication has also gleefully endorsed Hillary Clinton twice this election season. During her primary battle against Bernie Sanders, they described Queen Hillary as a "super-prepared warrior realist."

Welcome to the mainstream media spin zone, folks! Step right up and get yourselves a nice cold glass of Kool-Aid!
In this industry where facts are meaningless and left-wing propaganda trumps all, the big three networks -- ABC, CBS and NBC -- all spent three times more time attacking FBI director James Comey (the man whose "integrity" they lauded mere months ago) than on the woman he is actually investigating.
The Media Research Center did us the favor of watching and analyzing the network's coverage of Comey's announcement that his bureau reopened its investigation into Clinton's mishandling of classified information while serving as Secretary of State. The air-play breaks down as follows:
Beginning with the evening (October 28) of the announcement through Monday morning (October 31) MRC analysts reviewed reviewed all statements (by reporters, analysts, and partisans) that took a position on Comey and Clinton and found arguments against Comey (88) swamped those against Clinton (31) by a ratio of almost 3 to 1. There were a handful of statements that praised either Comey (10) or Clinton (4)
MRC analysts also discovered that the Big Three networks’ evening (ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News) and morning show programs (ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, NBC’s Today) devoted a total of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 49 seconds to the Comey story.
Then you have anchors such as George Stephanopoulos (former Clinton press secretary and Clinton Foundation donor) saying:
"It’s hard to know what’s going through James Comey’s mind right now. Remember when he came out in July? He broke tradition back in July when he gave the press conference. Rather than simply closing the investigation, he said he was doing it because there was such intense public interest in this case. You would think that same standard would drive him to release more details."
Meanwhile CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King invoked Former Attorney General Eric Holder who, "along with nearly 100 former Justice Department officials on both sides of the aisle, said that they were astonished and perplexed by Comey’s decision."
She then cited Holder's accusation that Comey is a "partisan with less pure intentions." A partisan? A few months ago they were calling the FBI director a pillar of objectivity and professionalism.
Even Democrats like Harry Reid are making even greater fools of themselves than they usually do, accusing Comey of "breaking the law" with his announcement. For the record, Comey did not break the law and his announcement isn't even unprecedented. Still, what can the Left do? It's flailing in the dark in its last-ditch effort to save a dying Clinton campaign.
Heartening is the fact that despite the media attack apparatus engaged at full throttle, polling numbers are swinging in favor of Trump, indicating voters quite simply aren't listening to the chattering class quite like they used to.

Harry Reid: Comey Aiding Trump, Ignoring Russian Ties

"You continue to resist calls to inform the public of this critical information."

Senator Harry Reid has sounded the war trumpets on FBI Director James Comey for reopening the investigation into Hillary's use of a private email server, going so far as to accuse him of breaking federal law by aiding Trump and ignoring his supposed ties to Russia.
In a letter published on Sunday, Reid personally accuses Comey of aiding and abetting Trump's campaign by reopening the investigation just 11 days prior to Election Day. Without citing any evidence to justify such a claim, Reid alleges the FBI Director willingly violated the Hatch Act, which prohibits executive branch employees from "activity directed towards the success or failure of a political party, candidate for partisan political office, or partisan political group."
Donning a tin-foil hat, Reid then alleges that Comey has documented proof of Trump's supposed ties with the Russian government, but he refuses to come clean with it before the American public, showing a double-standard in his treatment of Hillary. Good luck trying to hold back laughter over this gem of outrage:
In my communications with you and other top officials in the national security community, it  has become clear that you possess explosive information about close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisors, and the Russian government - a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States, which Trump praises at every opportunity. I wrote to you months ago calling for this information to be released to the public...and yet, you continue to resist calls to inform the public of this critical information.
Again, Reid gives no evidence of this, going beyond the kitchen sink and throwing the whole garbage disposal at Comey in hopes it will stick.
Ending on a note of the most melodramatic kind, Reid concludes his letter saying he now regrets ever supporting Comey's nomination, even when Republicans filibustered it.
"I led the fight to get you confirmed because I believed you to be a principled public servant," Reid concluded. "With the deepest regret, I now see that I was wrong."
The next few months ahead will be Reid's last in the Senate before moving on into retirement.
Good riddance.

Another Prager University video has been censored by YouTube. Oddly enough, it’s one about censorship and the political intimidation tactics of the Left.
As TruthRevolt previously reported, twenty-one of Dennis Prager’s short video seminars have been placed in “restricted mode,” a setting usually reserved for parents and teachers to keep inappropriate material from being viewed by children. Of course, as Prager explained, his videos are “animated, age-appropriate, educational videos.”
Now, one more has been added to the list: “The Dark Art of Political Intimidation.” This one features Wall Street Journalcolumnist and author of The Intimidation Game Kimberly Strassel. Her video explains how "the Democratic Party and their allies among the progressive left" use intimidation, harassment, and blackmail to shut down their political enemies. What a coincidence!
Strassel tweeted:
petition with over 79,000 signatures (and growing) is asking YouTube to stop blocking a remaining 18 Prager U videos. Like Strassel says in the video, we have to fight back against these intimidation tactics by the Left. We have to say in one, strong voice, like the petition states, “There is no excuse for Google and YouTube censoring and restricting any Prager U videos, which are produced with the sole intent of educating people of all ages about America's founding values.”
