Over 100,000 Americans Take to the Streets to Tell People “Abortion Kills Children”

NATIONAL   MICAIAH BILGER   OCT 2, 2017   |   10:35AM    WASHINGTON, DC
Standing on busy sidewalks and town squares across the country, more than 100,000 Americans urged their communities to recognize the value of unborn babies’ lives.
The annual Life Chain, held on the first Sunday in October every year, celebrated its 30thyear on Sunday with approximately 1,600 events in communities across the United States and Canada. The pro-life event is a peaceful rally that calls people to pray for an end to abortion and raise awareness about its devastating effects on our culture.
Many of the pro-life advocates had personal experiences that brought them out to the sidewalks.
A crowd of pro-lifers in Plattsburgh, New York received a mixed response to their prayers and signs that read “Abortion Kills Children.” Some people in the public waved in support, while others seemed angry or upset by the signs.
The Press Republican reports Kasia Dasilva, one of about 60 people who participated in the event, said she was standing there because of her children.
“I had three disabled children in a row,” Dasilva said. “They taught me so much about life.”
Len Kobylus also had a very personal reason for participating in the Life Chain in Salisbury, North Carolina – his grandson.
Kobylus told the Salisbury Post that his daughter got pregnant in high school and considered having an abortion. But because of her family’s support, she chose life for her son; now, Kobylus said his daughter is pursuing a doctorate degree and his 16-year-old grandson is starting to look at colleges.
“Every year that we can make it, we come out and pray for the unborn,” he said. “We understand that God, luckily, gave us the strength to make the right decision.”
Winnie Charles, of Sparta, New Jersey, told the New Jersey Herald that a co-worker’s abortion deeply affected her several years ago. She said it prompted her to become more involved in the pro-life movement.
“I offered my apartment to her to come and live with me because she was afraid her family wouldn’t accept a child out of wedlock, but she personally chose to have an abortion, and with that she closed herself off to a lot of people who would have been able to support her as a friend,” Charles said. “Abortion hurts her and other women like her for years afterward when they realize what they have done, and that the choice they made eliminated a whole human being from the face of the Earth.”
Life Chains focus heavily on prayer, but many different Christian denominations unite for the Life Chains. In Winchester, Virginia, more than 100 people from various denominations prayed together for unborn babies and moms along a busy street, according to the Winchester Star.
People of all ages gathered along busy streets in Huntingdon, Kenova and Ashland, West Virginia with signs that read “Adoption the Loving Option” and “Abortion Kills Children.”
Rachel Rustad, 12, went to the Medford, Oregon rally with her family to stand up for unborn babies’ right to life, KDRV News reports.
“I don’t believe that abortion is right. We were all made in God’s image and every person was once a child,” Rustad said.
About 20 pro-life advocates participated in the Newton, New Jersey event. Though small in number, the participants said they were encouraged by drivers who waved or honked in support. They also said young people who stand up for life also give them hope.
“Every time I go [to the March for Life], I’m seeing more and more young people — the last time there had to be over 50 percent — and they’re the future of our movement,” New Jersey resident Jerry Woodring said. “It’s a slow process, but I think people’s minds and hearts are changing as they continue catching on to the truth about abortion.”

40 Days for Life Pro-Life Prayer Campaign Saves 26 Babies From Abortion, So Far

NATIONAL   SHAWN CARNEY   OCT 2, 2017   |   11:54AM    WASHINGTON, DC
During 40 Days for Life, we actually look forward to Mondays! That’s the day we share the great news of lives saved from abortion.
So far, our hard-working local campaign coordinators tell us they know of 26 babies whose moms decided at the last minute to reject abortion and choose life! God has answered your prayers!
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
“I can’t say that this is the first time that we’ve had a save on opening day,” said Dan in Milwaukee, “but I can’t recall when we ever did.”
And that’s because the abortion center in Milwaukee doesn’t serve clients on Wednesdays – and 40 Days for Life always starts on a Wednesday.
If potential clients show up, the staff will simply schedule an appointment … and send them on their way.
Dan says a woman went to the pregnancy resource center across the street from the abortion facility – and stayed there quite a while. She then walked to the abortion business to compare services.
“Of course,” he said, “there is no comparison. One supports life; the other takes it.”
Before she went into the abortion facility, she kept referring to her baby as “it.” After she came out, she spoke in humanizing terms — “my baby” — and future tense: “this will be my eighth child.”
This especially touched one volunteer, who is the eighth child in her family.
“She had never interacted with anyone before during a campaign,” Dan said, “but she definitely had a LOT to say about the joys of being the eighth child — the baby in the family! It was so touching. I wish I were better at describing the joy that we experienced!”

Sometimes 40 Days for Life can make an impact – and save lives – before the vigil even formally begins. Such was the case at the kickoff rally in York.
Tom, the leader in York, said it was an awesome event.
“Bishop Ronald Gainer of the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg led us in prayer and passed on words of encouragement,” he said. “We heard powerful testimonies from two post-abortive women and a wonderful family provided moving music.”
After a while, some of the volunteers noticed a young woman sitting by the side of the street – crying. She told them she had been thinking about having an abortion … but after hearing a song about an unborn child, she was overcome by emotion.
It was then, Tom said, that “she decided to change her mind and let her baby be born.”
Keep praying … and join your local vigil today!

By 20 Weeks, Unborn Babies Have “All the Physical Structures Necessary” to Feel Pain During Abortions

NATIONAL   DAVE ANDRUSKO   OCT 2, 2017   |   6:23PM    WASHINGTON, DC
On Tuesday, the members of the House of Representatives will assemble in the U.S. Capitol Building to cast their votes yea or nay on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act–H.R. 36.
The two-fold organizing principle that undergirds the pro-abortion playbook will be on display in force: an appeal to authority and rhetorical sleight of hand. We will hear how the Medical Establishment is firm in its preordained conviction that a 20-week old unborn child can’t experience horrific pain as she is ripped apart. Indeed some go so far as to insist the child can’t experience pain until the 29th week–or perhaps not until birth!
But as National Right to Life has explained
By 20 weeks after fertilization, all the physical structures necessary to experience pain have developed. Unborn children at 20 weeks fetal age react to painful stimuli, and their hormonal reactions consistent with pain can be measured. For the purposes of surgery on unborn children, fetal anesthesia is routinely administered and is associated with a decrease in stress hormones compared to their level when painful stimuli are applied without such anesthesia.
Supplementing this is the insistence that abortions at 20 weeks (and beyond!) are as rare as births at Planned Parenthood. But, of course, these abortions aren’t “rare” at all.
Based purely on published surveys, there are about 275 sites that provide abortions past the 20-week fetal age (22 weeks LMP) line contained in H.R. 36. But there are reasons to believe that such surveys under-estimate the prevalence of late abortions. There is growing evidence that they are far more common than most people want to believe.
Remember that abortionists have zero incentive to accurately date how old the baby is and that many of the states that abort the most babies have no reporting requirements! So whatever number is tossed out tomorrow will radically underestimate the number of abortions performed at 20 weeks and beyond.
An additional point. NRL News Today has written a small library worth of stories about convicted murderer, Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell. We quoted most of a 200+ page Grand Jury on a man eventually convicted of three counts of first-degree murder and one count of involuntary manslaughter.
On page 171, we read that for the years 200-2010, Gosnell reported one second-trimester abortion.
Yet it appears (pp. 26-27, 88) that Gosnell probably performed thousands of second-trimester and third-trimester abortions during that decade. Multiple other practitioners who perform large volumes of late abortions have also failed to report or not been required to report.
Conclusion is the same: an untold but large number of second and third trimester abortions are not reported.
We will have more to say, both later today, and tomorrow. Just do not allow yourself to be fooled by the pro-abortion propaganda line that will be reflexively, uncritically, and with enthusiasm reported by the Establishment Media.
This is a very important vote, a stepping stone to ending an atrocity of astonishing proportions.
