Andrea Mitchell Worries ‘Crisis Will Pass’ Unless Dems Pass Strict Gun Laws

"At this time, is that good enough?"

On Andrea Mitchell Reports Wednesday, guest Senator Chris Murphy -- anti-gun Democrat from Connecticut -- had his feet put to the fire by Mitchell over a need for more aggressive actions against the 2nd Amendment. Referring to the February 14th Parkland, Florida high school shooting -- in which 17 students were murdered -- Mitchell worried that "this crisis will pass" without gun rights being hampered.
The host hailed Murphy for his involvement as "a leader on this march [for more gun control] since Newtown," yet she feared that his proposed bill -- which he has introduced along with Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn -- doesn't have nearly enough reach. The initiative -- endorsed by the NRA -- aims to increase federal agencies' and states' reporting of infractions to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. In Mitchell's view, that's hardly sufficient:
“But at this time, is that good enough? Chuck Schumer, the leader of the caucus, said that your bill is not enough.”
Mitchell pushed the senator to abandon his own bill, in favor of something more robust:
“So should you be supporting that or should you be, you know, holding back and demanding a universal background check at least?”
Murphy pledged more work in opposition to the constitutional right to bear arms beyond the FixNICS Act, but Mitchell expressed concern that any bill agreeable to Republicans would be a lamented failure to exploit the current "crisis" in order to pursue more extreme and purely Democratic measures:
"What is your political strategy? Because you could pass this bipartisan bill and, you know, a lot of people could pat themselves on the back -- the President and the Republican caucus and others in the Democratic caucus who really don’t oppose, don’t support stronger gun restrictions. And this crisis will pass. So how does this work for you?"
Mitchell's sentiment is indicative of a core problem with the Left: rather than looking at cause and effect, studies, statistics, lessons from history, etc., they're happy for the emotional -- and, sometimes, the hysterical -- to dictate policy. In truth, a crisis is the worst time during which to legislate. Much wiser is to let cool heads prevail, once the feverishness of the calamity has passed. Furthermore, it is shameful for any politician -- or media personality -- to leverage a tragedy in order to push their political agenda. But not to Andrea Mitchell, and not to MSNBC.

CNN's Camerota Hails Gullible 'Influential Voices' Pushing Gun Control

“Some of the survivors have become...these influential voices, right?"

On Wednesday morning, CNN's Alisyn Camerota appeared on location at the site of the February 14th Parkland, Florida school massacre. From a parking lot, the New Day host interviewed surviving students who have become pawns of the left-wing media, espousing gun control to Camerota's delight.
Of course, there is no reason to believe a few more gun control laws would have prevented a disturbed teenager with murderous intent from finding a means to kill students at his formerly-attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Furthermore, the school, local law enforcement, and the FBI failed to thoroughly pursue previous complaints and warning signs related to the shooter. Nevertheless, the media have a singular narrative in mind, and they have relentlessly exploited the tragedy and its immature victims in order to push their left-wing gun control agenda.
On February 27th, the school reopened, with Camerota giddily delivering -- with teenage verbiage, no less -- a fawning introduction before interviewing a couple of the young gun control advocates, siblings David and Lauren Hogg:
“Some of the survivors have become, as we know, these influential voices, right? These activated voices. These teenagers didn’t think that they were going to turn into a movement but they have turned into a movement and they have ignited this entire national conversation about gun violence and gun control and what they want to see happen."
David Hogg was then given the air, at which point the naive 17-year old criticized the NRA, the GOP, and the idea of arming teachers:
“[Republicans] want to sell more guns, they want to work on behalf of the people that own them, which is the NRA, multiple different special interest groups. They want to sell more guns, they want to scare more people, get more guns sold so they can get re-elected. They want to scare the people and we don’t want to see that happen."
Republicans want to scare people? Is it not the Democrats -- in government and the media -- who are exploiting the frightening Parkland tragedy in order to accomplish their fear-based goal of support against the right to bear arms? The gullible teenager continued his attack -- with Camerota fawning -- additionally targeting Governor Rick Scott, Senator Marco Rubio, and President Trump, turning to the camera in an apparently rehearsed move for emphasis:
"Our politicians are cowards and they won't...gather the strength to stand up to the NRA like Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, or Donald Trump, where they won't stand up to the NRA and say, "You don't own me anymore and they rip off their shock collar."
Presumably not understanding the degree to which he is being used as a witless tool by Democrats, Hogg condescended toward conservatives in government:
"At this point, our politicians are like really stupid sharks that think that they have power, but honestly don't."
Feeling powerful when one is not would seem to more accurately describe Hogg. Having fueled that fire, Camerota began the segment with overwhelming praise:
"David...you were the first student we talked to in the hours after this massacre...everyone remembers it because you sort of gripped the nation's attention because you were so clear-headed."
"Clear-headed," except where his own rights -- guaranteed by the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment -- are concerned.

MSNBC Loses It Over Arming Teachers, Who Would Surely Murder Black Boys

"This is the dumbest idea of many dumb ideas."

On Sunday's edition of MSNBC's AM Joy, left-wing host Joy Reid and her panel came unglued over the notion of supporting teachers' carry of concealed firearms at school.
In the cyclone of fear, insanity abounded: Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin called the proposal the President's "dumbest idea," former Independent Women's Forum CEO Michelle Bernard worried that teachers would murder black students, and former congressional spokesman and recently-converted Democrat Kurt Bardella condemned NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch as a "paid mercenary" full of "idiocy," who "has no soul."
Nice.
The group appeared clueless to the fact that many schools already allow trained teachers to bring their firearms to work with them. Subsequently, Rubin announced:
"This is the dumbest idea of many dumb ideas Trump has had."
Assuming that educators and law enforcement are even dumber than Trump -- and, therefore, teachers would not holster their weapons upon seeing police attending to a situation, Rubin agonized over the likelihood that cops would then simply and errantly shoot the teachers in a crisis situation.
In sync with the concept of trained teachers being buffoons, Reid added:
"If you put metal detectors up, former students would know they can just walk through the metal detectors with no gun and acquire their weapons in school inside the building."
Anti-2nd Amendment Reid also previously tweeted that she would not allow her children to enter any school which allowed teachers -- whom she characterized as "warlords" -- to be armed.

In response to Dana Loesch's recent speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference -- during which she accused media of relishing boosted ratings from tragedies such as the Parkland incident -- Bardella remarked:
"This is a different dimension of idiocy we're seeing right now on display from people like Dana...This is someone who clearly, frankly, has no soul, who's...just a paid mercenary who's happy to keep cashing the check from the NRA."
Wow.
Perhaps most egregious and stupid of all, Michelle Bernard worried about a reduction in immigration to America (say it ain't so!), suggesting that teachers, if armed, would surely choose to murder black boys because of their "vibe":
"No one's going to want to come to our country if our teachers have guns in the schools, and what is going to happen to black boys in classrooms if teachers have guns and a teacher gets a bad vibe from a black boy and shoots him?"
The Left seem to be constantly in the throes of hysteria, and Joy Reid and panel are no exception with regard to arming teachers. Perhaps they would see things differently, if only they themselves were armed -- with rationale.

CA Teenagers Arrested for Throwing Rocks, Damage During Anti-Gun Walkout

Rock control now!

Hundreds of students from several schools in Stockton, California, walked out of class to protest guns in the wake of the Florida high school shooting. While some chanted, “No more guns,” others started throwing rocks and damaging property.
NBC News reported that 100 students out of 300 turned rowdy and jumped a fence and started throwing rocks at civilian cars and police cars. A college student spoke to reporters and said she was on her way to class when she noticed her back windows were busted out of her car.
Those students from Stagg, Edison, Chavez, Lincoln, and Village Oak high schools that weren’t vandalizing created traffic issues and disturbances as they stormed through nearby malls in large groups. Police made five arrests on charges of battery on an officer, resisting arrest, stealing an officer’s baton, and vandalism. Apparently, these kids hate guns but are perfectly fine with rocks. They've scheduled another walkout for April on the anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting.
Watch NBC News’s coverage:

When Stockton students aren’t protesting guns with rocks, they’re planning the next school shooting. On Monday, a 14-year-old student at Venture Academy was arrested and sent to juvenile hall after it was discovered that he had written out plans to shoot up the school. Reports say police found no illegal items at the boy’s home.
Love trumps hate, huh, California?
