Muslim Congressman Tells Amazon to Stop Selling Books That Liberals Don’t Like

Democrat Congressman and Muslim Brotherhood-linked Keith Ellison took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. It’s rare that you can find a member of Congress that abides by that oath, but Ellison has taken his disloyalty to his oath to a new level.
Ellison, who is “the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, wrote to Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos, demanding that he no longer sell at Amazon any material that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) dislikes.”
No Congressman should use his or her authority to violate the First Amendment that begins with a prohibition against Congress:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Latest: The Hypocrisy of Eugene Lang College
Freedom of speech and the press are not reserved for media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and Fox. Today, anyone who publishes, whether it’s a self-published book (something Amazon excels in) or a blog post, is protected by the First Amendment. Congress cannot interfere. A private company can refuse to publish someone’s work, but the government has no authority to put pressure on a private company like Ellison did.
Not surprisingly, Ellison removed the letter from his congressional website: “The requested file was not found.” You can read the entire letter here.
Ellison’s cover is to rid Amazon of racist and Nazi material. But this paragraph goes far beyond these two categories of books:
I am writing to you with my concerns about the amount of money Amazon has made from the sale of literature and music published by entities identified as “hate groups” by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
The Koran has a lot of hateful material in it. It didn’t stop Ellison from taking his oath of office with his hand on the two-volume set from Thomas Jefferson’s library. There are many people who consider the Koran to be “hate literature.”
The SPLC has developed a list of hate groups. This list has been sent to police departments and organizations like Amazon. If you or your organization is on that list, you will be discriminated against. If you or your organization oppose same-sex marriage, you or your organization is most likely on that list…

Former Atheist Anthony Hopkins Reveals Encounter That Led Him to God

“It is better to come to the truth late in life than never to come at all.”
As each of us gets older, questions about God, purpose and the afterlife become more pronounced. That’s certainly been the case for famed actor Anthony Hopkins.
During an appearance last week at the 11th annual LEAP Conference, Hopkins explained a major turning point in his life — a moment when he abandoned his previous embrace of atheism in exchange for a belief in a higher power.
The Oscar-winning star may not be Christian, but he is clearly open to the existence of God, a shift that occurred in 1975, when during an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, a woman asked an introspective question that intrigued Hopkins.
“Why don’t you just trust in God?” the woman asked Hopkins, who noted from that point forward his insatiable craving for alcohol vanished.
The 80-year-old celebrity told students at the conference he believes people “are capable of so much,” pointing to his own sordid life experiences. He said he “cannot believe that my life is what it is because I should have died in Wales, drunk or something like that.”
In a 2014 interview with ABC News for his role as Methuselah in the movie “Noah,” Hopkins said he falls deeper into belief as he ages.
“I feel every day, as I get older, anyway, that it’s all a miracle,” he explained. “I mean, my heart beats, my lungs breath. That is an extraordinary — an extraordinary phenomenon.”
In a 2011 interview with Piers Morgan, Hopkins recalled his struggles with alcoholism, acknowledging his own need for God, despite being an atheist at the time.
“I was hell-bent on destruction. And I just asked for a little bit of help, and suddenly, pow. It was just like, bingo,” he recalled. “It was like being possessed by a demon, an addiction, and I couldn’t stop. And millions of people around like that. I could not stop.”

1,700-Year-Old Mosaic Discovered Near Tel Aviv Thought to be Jewish (VIDEO)

The discovery of a magnificent Roman-era mosaic in the city of Lod was not completely unexpected, the dig director told World Israel News.
While preparing to build an archaeological center in the city of Lod to house the remains of an enormous, 1,700-year-old villa with sumptuous mosaic floors originally found there in 1996, a beautiful mosaic had been discovered just a few meters away, it was announced Sunday.
The original 17m. x 9m. mosaic was discovered accidentally under Lod’s garbage dump during the paving of a new road at the entrance to the city.
It is considered one of the largest and most impressive mosaics ever found in Israel, believed by its excavators in the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) to have covered the enormous house’s living room.
The original Lod mosaic also contained pictures of animals, sea monsters, merchant ships and geometric and floral patterns that were extremely well-preserved. However, none of the mosaics thus far discovered in the villa show a human image. This has led some to speculate that the owner of the villa was a Jew, for whom such pictures would have been forbidden.
Dr. Amir Gorzalczany, the IAA dig director who found the new mosaic, told World Israel News that this discovery was an expected one.
“In 2009, when the funding was found and we removed and preserved the mosaic found in 1996, we dug further and found a courtyard,” he explained. “We could only uncover part of it, though, because the street was covering the rest. Then, in 2014, the street was moved, and we found the rest of the courtyard and a reception room, with more mosaic work. But we couldn’t dig more because people lived there, and there was a parking lot. Now, though, the neighbors were building a protected room, and we got their permission to move the parking lot at the same time, so we found a third mosaic floor.”
Gorzalczany described the most recent find as a possible dining area.
“In three places there are rows of white mosaics laid out diagonally around a rectangular, decorated spot, and on one side you see a part where the rows change direction. Here we found impressions of what could be the legs of a chaise lounge, where two or three people could sit and eat. It’s like the owner went through the room and decided where his couches should be, and then the mosaic was laid to mark off those areas.”

More rooms in the massive home to be discovered

He is sure that there are more rooms to be discovered, he said, though he hastened to add that this will only be when no one lives in the vicinity anymore. “We haven’t yet found the private living quarters,” he pointed out, “though they could have been on the second floor that is no more.”
In an IAA press release, the dig director described the villa as luxurious, with the mosaic-paved courtyard showing signs of columns and remains of fresco wall paintings. “Thankfully, the main central panel of the mosaic was preserved. The figures, many similar to the figures in the earlier mosaics, comprise fish and winged creatures,” he said.
The most recent find, like its earlier counterparts, was carefully removed so that the Shelby White and Leon Levy Lod Mosaic Center could be constructed over the fourth-century home while preserving the newfound treasure.
It is expected that the museum will take two years to complete, at which time the floors will be returned so that visitors can see these archaeological treasures from the Roman period on the site.
Over a million people have already seen the first ancient floor because it has traveled the globe since 2010. It has been exhibited in some of the world’s most prestigious museums, including the Louvre, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. It finally returned home last April and is now being shown in Israel for the first time at The National Maritime Museum in Haifa.

Trump Demands Turkey Release “Great Christian”

As part of a “faith-based crusade,” President Trump is threatening sanctions against Turkey over a simple preacher who has become the focus of an international dispute.
Andrew Craig Brunson, 50, is an evangelical pastor originally from Black Mountain, North Carolina, who has lived in Turkey for 23 years where he served as pastor of Izmir Resurrection Church, a small Protestant church with about 25 congregants.
Brunson was arrested in October 2016 shortly after an unsuccessful coup d’etat against Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Tens of thousands of Turkish military personnel, civil servants, educators, academics, dissidents, and journalists were arrested but Christian clergy were targeted for the crime of “Christianization.” Brunson stood accused of being a member of the Gulen Movement, an Islamic movement whose leader, Fethullah Gulen, has lived in the U.S. since 1999. Turkey has long sought to have Gulen extradited and it is believed that Brunson’s incarceration is an attempt at pressuring the U.S. government into complying.
Brunson was released to house arrest on Wednesday, after one-and-a-half years in prison. Forbidden from leaving the country, he will be electronically monitored. Turkey’s official Anadolu news agency reported he had been released for “health problems.” Charged with “committing crimes on behalf of terror groups without being a member”, Brunson faces a penalty of up to 15 years in jail. He could receive another 20 years if he is found guilty of espionage.
This conditional release was not sufficient for the US government who had been negotiating for his release and expected him to be released on July 18. This was expressed in a tweet by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Both President Trump and Vice President Pence reacted sharply, emphasizing Pastor Brunson’s religion as part of the issue at hand. At a conference on religious freedom in Washington on Thursday, Pence called on an increasingly autocratic Erdogan to release Brunson or face significant sanctions.
“Brunson is an innocent man, there is no credible evidence against him,” Pence said in his speech. “Release Pastor Andrew Brunson now or be prepared to face the consequences.”
“If Turkey does not take immediate action to free this innocent man of faith and send him home to America, the United States will impose significant sanctions on Turkey until Pastor Andrew Brunson is free,” Pence added.
This was quickly followed by a tweet from President Trump, backing up the vice president’s threat.

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu tweeted his response to the U.S. threats.
Ibrahim Kalim, spokesman for Erdogan, made a statement to the media saying that the U.S. “must understand that it cannot reach desired results by threatening Turkey over an issue which falls within the jurisdiction of our country’s independent judiciary.”
As part of the negotiations, Trump asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to release Ebru Ozkan, a Turkish woman arrested during a visit to Israel in June. She was accused of smuggling for Hamas. Ozkan was released two weeks ago and a Washington Post article reported that her release was part of a deal for the release of Brunson.
“The deal was a carom shot, personally sealed by Trump, to trade a Turkish citizen imprisoned on terrorism charges in Israel for Brunson’s release,” the Washington Post report said, stating that Trump and Netanyahu discussed the issue the day before Ozkan’s release.
The U.S. and Turkey are allies in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) but relations between the two countries have been strained, particularly over U.S. support of factions in Syria that oppose Erdogan’s regime.

The terrorists imprisoned in Israeli jails waste hundreds of thousands of cubic meters a year worth millions of dollars, and although the Israel Prisons Service has been aware for years of this crime, the disturbing waste has not stopped.
While the Israeli Water Authority is engaged in a campaign titled, “Israel is drying up,” calling on water consumer to save the precious commodity, an Hakol Hayehudi report, confirmed by IPS officials, says the terrorists intentionally leave the taps open in their cells, in a hostile attack on Israel’s resources.

Recent data reported by Hakol Hayehudi indicate that while, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics, an ordinary citizen’s water consumption is about 70 cubic meters per year, while the average water consumption of a terrorist is not less than 248.4 cubic meters per year.
        That’s some thirsty terrorists.
This information was presented about a decade ago in the Knesset by MK Danny Danon (Likud), currently Israel’s UN envoy. Moreover, 11 years ago, the IPS announced its plan to “formulate plans to reduce water consumption” by its security prisoners. Needless to say, the plans are yet to be implemented—or drawn, come to think of it—over more than a decade, and the terrorists continue to waste millions of dollars a year in depleting the country’s most essential natural resource.
The IPS issued a response, saying that “in contrast to criminal prisoners, security prisoners in Israeli prisons spend most of the day in their cells. In addition, due to security constraints, the showers and toilets are usually located inside the cells and there are no shared showers in the wing, which makes it possible to overuse the water.
“The IPS is aware of the worrisome phenomenon and has been working for a period of time to limit the use of water and reduce consumption, among other things by separating the water system from the shower system. Shower hours will be significantly limited and consumption will decline. This infrastructure operation is already underway and will continue to be implemented in all security prisons.”
In June, 2017, in his final ruling before retiring from the Supreme Court, then Deputy Court President Justice Elyakim Rubinstein ruled that the state should expand the living space of prisoners in Israel from three square meters to four within a year, and to four and a half within six months. The decision was made in response to a petition filed by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel and the Academic Center for Law and Business in Ramat Gan, which claimed that the imprisonment of a person in an area of less than four square meters (43 square feet) is inappropriate and contradicts both international law and Israel’s Basic Law: Human Dignity and Liberty.
Rubinstein did not distinguish between criminal and security prisons, and even pointed out the severe overcrowding of the latter. The retiring justice did not relate to the nature of the offenses and the treatment approach towards the prisoners, only to a person’s basic entitlement to proper living conditions.
Minister of Public Security, Strategic Affairs and Minister of Information Gilad Erdan (Likud) wants to promote legislation that would separate the two types of prisoners, so that the space goal set by the High Court would not apply to security prisoners – on the grounds that, unlike criminal prisoners, the security prisoners are not Israeli citizens and will not return to Israeli society after their imprisonment, therefore they are not entitled to rehabilitation.
