CUP OF TREMBLING

Zechariah 12:2 (KJV) says, “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
³And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”

Israel celebrated its 77th birthday on May 14th. In all of that time, Israel has been in a fight for survival. Surrounded by enemies who constantly attacked or threatened to drive them into the sea, I often scratched my head at the verse saying God was going to make Jerusalem a “cup of trembling.” But now the world can see that the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) has become an expert military machine far outmatching its enemies.

The pager attack against Hezbollah was ingenious. And in the current war, the IDF expertly eliminated Iran’s leaders.

Iran’s proxies (Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis) have been amazingly quiet during the latest hostilities.

God says, those nations that come against Jerusalem, the capitol of Israel, will “be cut in pieces.” Jerusalem has indeed become a source of fear and distress for its enemies. And the threat of a pending nuclear attack by Iran, has awakened a lion in Israel and the consequences for those nations are quite “burdensome.”
