Governor Ron DeSantis accompanied wife to cancer treatment while AOC attacked him as ‘missing’

While critics slammed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for being noticeably absent from the public view in recent days, it has been revealed that the absence was due in part to the governor accompanying his wife to her cancer treatment.

A DeSantis spokesperson told Fox News that the governor accompanied his wife Casey to cancer treatment on Dec. 29—the same day that several critics accused the governor of “missing,” even sparking the hashtag “Where’s Ron” on Twitter.

Fox News contributor James Freeman challenges the Miami Beach, Florida, mayor for claiming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has handled the coronavirus pandemic poorly.

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis accompanied his wife to her cancer treatment while critics were accusing the governor of taking a vacation as coronavirus cases spiked, Fox News has learned.

A DeSantis spokesperson said the governor accompanied wife Casey to cancer treatment Dec. 29, the day several left-wing critics accused the governor of “missing.”

DeSantis’ announced in October that his wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer, telling Fox News at the time that as “the mother of three young children, Casey is the centerpiece of our family and has made an impact on the lives of countless Floridians through her initiatives as first lady.”

DESANTIS’ OFFICE HITS BACK AFTER MAYOR ASKS ‘WHERE’S OUR GOVERNOR?’

Democratic Mayor Jerry Demings of Orange County in Florida criticized DeSantis in a press conference Tuesday amid the rising COVID cases, suggesting state residents “should be outraged” with DeSantis not being in front of the media during the spike.

“Our residents, all Florida residents should be outraged, and they should ask the question, ‘Now, where’s our state? Where’s our governor?'” Demings said. “Where is Ron DeSantis now? When was the last time you saw the governor do a press briefing regarding COVID-19?”

Others, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., took to social media to criticize DeSantis and accuse him of being “inexplicably missing.”

“Hasn’t Gov. DeSantis been inexplicably missing for like 2 weeks,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a tweet during a visit to Florida. “If he’s around, I would be happy to say hello. His social media team seems to have been posting old photos for weeks.”

“In the meantime, perhaps I could help with local organizing,” added Ocasio-Cortez, who was spotted maskless while drinking and dining outdoors in the Sunshine State. “Folks are quite receptive here.”

MSNBC host Joy Reid also lashed out at DeSantis, writing in a tweet: “A governor, not governing during a crisis; and sunning his belly on vacation instead. @GovRonDeSantis is the Nero of Ted Cruzes.”

DeSantis Press Secretary Christina Pushaw responded to Reid, attaching photos of DeSantis’ daily schedule, and asked, “Have you ever considered that you’re one of the reasons nobody trusts the media?”

DeSantis communications staffer Kyle Lamb also responded to critics on Twitter who were questioning whether DeSantis was on vacation, writing: “Just FYI, [DeSantis] is not on vacation. Literally no one from our office has said that he is.

“Anyone pushing that could have easily seen the public schedule and seen that he’s taking calls and meetings this past week,” Lamb added. “Not having public events does not = ‘vacation.'”

Biden suggests blowing up rule on elections, giving Dems everything

“By any means necessary” is a phrase that has been used over the years by extremists in pursuit of their goals.

Essentially, it’s understood to be a determination that any measure, including violence, is justified to reach the goal.

That’s now the position Joe Biden has adopted regarding the Democratic Party’s plans to take over elections all across the United States.

With that power, Democrats in Washington could control mail-in ballots, illegal alien voting, voter registration lists, who is recruited to vote and even who counts the vote.

But it’s been held up because of the Senate’s long-standing filibuster rule that requires legislation – except in rare circumstances – to obtain 60 supporting votes before moving forward.

The Senate is 50-50 between the parties now, so Kamala Harris has to trot over to the Senate when it’s deadlocked and vote for the Democrats’ agenda, and that’s how Biden suggests the takeover of elections now happen.

Fox News said he now supports doing “whatever” is needed to get his party’s agenda put into law.

“If the only thing standing between getting voting rights legislation passed and not getting passed is the filibuster, I support making the exception of voting rights for the filibuster,” he said in a recent interview.

The immediate reaction from the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board, however, was, “An ‘exception’ to the filibuster? This is like an engineer saying he merely wants to remove a section of the Hoover Dam.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has said the takeover strategy would hurt America.

He said, “The reason the Democrats want to get rid of the filibuster is they want to admit two new states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and pack the Supreme Court and fundamentally change the structure of America forever.”

And other Republicans have charged the plan is nothing more than a power grab for Democrats.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., the Senate majority leader, has promised to force a vote on the rule change soon.

His problem, however, is not the 50 Republicans who are expected to vote against it, but whether two of his own party, Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, will.

They both have opposed the idea.

McConnell explained, “The filibuster prevents extremism… and I admire and respect Senator Sinema and Senator Manchin for saying they are not changing it.”

WND reported only days ago that leftists in Congress have been insisting that, since they don’t have the votes to push their plans through, Biden should simply impose their agenda by executive order.

“Today, the elected leadership of the Congressional Progressive Caucus is calling on the president and all Democrats who believe in the need to Build Back Better for climate, care, immigrants, and those seeking economic dignity and opportunity to come together and deliver for the American people,” the coalition charged in a statement that came after Manchin declined to support Biden’s massive spending spree.

“That means a whole-of-government approach. In Congress, we will continue to prioritize a legislative path for Build Back Better… In the meantime, the White House must continue to act on a parallel track by using the president’s incredibly powerful tool of executive action.”

While the Constitution does grant the president extensive authority for executive orders, they generally are not allowed to overturn legislative decisions. The courts also have the authority to rein in executive actions that are unconstitutional. Also, executive orders are easy for a subsequent president to reverse.

Further, WND reported a few months back that while Democrats historically have supported the rule, the current situation in Washington has caused them to flip on the issue.

Constitutional expert Jonathan Turley wrote that as a senator, Biden defended the filibuster.

“The Senate ought not act rashly by changing its rules to satisfy a strong-willed majority acting in the heat of the moment,” Biden said in 2005.

“Proponents of the ‘nuclear option’ argue that their proposal is simply the latest iteration of a growing trend towards majoritarianism in the Senate. God save us from that fate, if it is true,” Biden said. ” … Adopting the ‘nuclear option’ would change the fundamental understanding and unbroken practice of what the Senate is all about. Senators would start thinking about changing other rules when they became ‘inconvenient.’ … Altering Senate rules to help in one political fight or another could become standard operating procedure, which, in my view, would be disastrous.”

NPR reported Schumer is “threatening” the Republicans, insisting they either compromise or Democrats will eliminate the filibuster. In response, McConnell has warned that Republicans would bring a “nuclear winter” on the Senate floor.

“Nobody serving in this chamber can even begin — can even begin — to imagine what a completely scorched earth Senate would look like,” McConnell said.

The rule has been changed several times. The threshold was reduced from 67 votes to 60 in 1975. Democrats eliminated it in 2013 for votes on executive branch and judicial nominations. In 2017, the GOP expanded the Democrats’ changes to include Supreme Court justices.

CBS censors reporter slamming ‘crushing impact’ of CVD policies on kids

The iconic CBS Sunday morning news show “Face the Nation” edited out a network correspondent’s passionate criticism of COVID-19 policies for the harm they have caused children and teenagers who have a minuscule chance of suffering serious illness or death from the disease.

Newsbusters reported the remarks of CBS correspondent Jan Crawford were axed seconds before they would have aired Sunday.

“Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan, in a special year-end show with a reporter roundtable, pivoted the discussion, saying, Well, I want to get to underreported stories as well, Jan?”

Crawford immediately responded, saying her underreported story centered on an issue “my kids hear me rant about … every day, so I might as well tell you guys.”

“It’s the crushing impact that our COVID policies have had on young kids and children,” she said.

Crawford argued that COVID-19 is “by far the least serious risk for serious illness” for young people. She noted “a healthy teenager has a one in a million chance of getting, and dying from COVID, which is way lower than, you know, dying in a car wreck on a road trip.”

In the Washington, D.C., area, she continued, “you couldn’t even go on a playground in the D.C. area without cops scurrying – getting – shooing the kids off.”

“Tremendous negative impact on kids, and it’s been an afterthought.”

She said the “mental health” of children and teens has taken a turn for the worse, with repercussions lasting for “the rest of their lives” if future decisions aren’t “measured and sensible.” She said the damage could worsen on top of the “dreams” crushed, “future learning” stunted, and “risk of abuse” incurred.

Brennan agreed: “Well said and frightening.”

Newsbusters pointed to the video of how the show aired – compared to the full video – to demonstrate that CBS eliminated Crawford’s remarks. Her criticism of COVID polices came after White House correspondent Weijia Jiang said “we’ll see” regarding what will happen with Congress in 2022.

But the show, as it aired, went to a break, and resumed with each reporter offering their 2022 prediction, skipping Crawford’s underreported story.

A list of more than 400 studies shows that COVID-19 lockdowns, shelter-in-place policies, school closures, masks and mask mandates have failed to curb virus transmission or reduce deaths while causing unintended harm.

In an interview with WND earlier this month, Dr. Robert Malone, the vaccine researcher who invented the messenger RNA technology behind the Pfizer and Moderna shots, said “fundamentally evil” COVID policies will cause “deep and profound” damage that “will last for decades.”
