Another Democrat Leaders Scandal Emerges

For those of you that still remember the days of COVID lockdown overreach, you might remember that governors in liberal Democrat states were doing everything that they could to limit freedoms. Some of those limits led to lethal effects within our communities.

A prosecutor has indicated that criminal charges may be coming for another Democrat governor whose COVID policies led to the death of elderly nursing home residents.

Whitmer Death Toll

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer instituted a COVID policy, which was very similar to that of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, that ordered sick patients to be admitted into nursing homes and other similar facilities.

In an interview with a local news outlet, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido encouraged Michigan citizens who lost loved ones in nursing homes due to COVID to obtain information about the circumstances of their deaths from the facilities, and to file a wrongful death complaint with the police.

Thanks to strict HIPAA laws, Lucido is unable to access the information himself.

“If we find there’s been willful neglect of office, if we find there’s been reckless endangerment of a person’s life by bringing them in then we would move forward with charges against the Governor. Of course, we would. Nobody’s above the law in this state,” the prosecutor said.

According to ABC Detroit, Lucido “will be meeting with Macomb County Police to instruct them on how to process and verify the information and bring it to his office. After becoming Prosecutor this year, Lucido asked fellow county prosecutors to form a Blue-Ribbon Committee for consistency investigating these cases. That Association as a group declined and said Lucido should make the request to the Michigan Attorney General and feds. Lucido provided letters showing he did that last May.”

Governor Whitmer‘s office released a statement denying the allegations, and attacking Lucido for making them. “Mr. Lucido’s comments are shameful political attacks based in neither fact nor reality,” the statement said.

The problem is, Whitmer’s administration is refusing to release the complete data about nursing home deaths.

“Gov. Whitmer and her administration continue to refuse to answer questions regarding nursing home deaths. Michiganders deserve to know the true impact of Gov. Whitmer’s orders and we need transparency, now,” Ted Goodman, Communications Director for the Michigan Republican Party, told The Daily Wire.

Without the data, it’s hard to make a case against her, which is exactly why they are withholding it.

The Bottom Line

Like New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Governor Whitmer ordered sick patients to be admitted into nursing homes. Unlike Cuomo, Whitmer has so far been able to hide the true number of deaths.

Steven Crowder, a conservative comedian who somehow is able to report the news better than the actual media, held a rally in Michigan against Whitmer and her abhorrent COVID policies. At the rally, he revealed the fact that the COVID nursing home data being released by Whitmer’s administration doesn’t include

“How many people here have heard the reported number, that in Michigan 34 percent of all your deaths — only 34% — come from senior living homes? … That number is a lie, and no one else has been able to dig into this as we have before, and we’re still waiting on some information from the governor,” Crowder states.

He then notes that 34 percent tracks with other states, as all of the states surrounding Michigan have similar numbers, between 28 to 36 percent.

“Until you take one thing into consideration. This was fine print… Michigan’s tracking — and it’s the only state with these comparable states — doesn’t include assisted living facilities, adult foster care facilities, or homes for the aged,” Crowder points out, noting that the comparable states include these statistics in their numbers.

The bottom line is, Whitmer’s policies led to an increase in deaths of the elderly, many of which could have been easily avoided had she not given the order to put sick patients in nursing homes. Her administration is still trying to cover up for their actions. Hopefully, thanks to Peter Lucido, they won’t get away with it.
