TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE

"We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." - 1 Thessalonians 1:3

SOMETHING TO PONDER

I hate waiting. Most people do, I would assume. Whether long lines or stop-and-go traffic, it bothers me to wait for what’s next. I get places early or stay late to avoid rush hour. I seriously pay attention to the times Google tells me a business has the fewest customers and shows up then.

But sometimes, I can’t help it. Life happens, and I have to wait or be patient. I find it far easier to wait for something I really want.

Growing up, I learned not to pray for patience. I heard a pastor say once that he made the mistake of praying for patience, and God gave him a struggle or difficult people to deal with. I decided then not to make the same mistake. But like the rest of life, God still teaches me patience.

Patience sits first on the description of God’s love (1 Corinthians 13): “Love is patient, kind …” It’s fourth on the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23): “Love, joy, peace, patience …” God loves us abundantly, and because he cares about our character and being, he teaches us patience. We learn the best by doing, not reading or spitting out answers on a written test. Jesus modeled discipleship as relational and constant action, failure, success, and reflection. They walked with Jesus and learned.

Because this world wants us to quit, endurance saves our lives (Luke 21:19), keeps us from giving up. According to the verse above, what inspires our endurance? Hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his goodness, mercy, love, and power, the Father promises a glorious end, and he keeps his promises. We don’t want to give up. If we do, we’ll lose out on the peaceful presence of God now and the glorious future awaiting us. Let God’s continual presence today and the secure future in Christ inspire you to keep going and win the prize. It’ll be well worth the wait.

YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

Heavenly Father,
I confess I hate waiting, but you are worth it. You are patient with me, and your love calls me to be transformed into your likeness. Help me to trust in your timing, even when I’m weary. Teach me to endure with hope in you and your promises, not frustration. Overflow my heart with your love and the fruit of the Spirit, your divine character. Comfort me with your presence in the delay, and remind me that your promises won’t fail. Give me strength for today and hope for tomorrow in your Son.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON

1. Have you ever had to wait a long time for something you really wanted? What happened when you got it?

2. How has God been patient and long-suffering with you through your life? Ask God to show you specific seasons or moments.

3. What are the struggles and difficult people in your life where God seeks to teach you patience and endurance? How can you show God’s long-suffering in those circumstances?

ICE Clash Escalates: Newark Mayor Arrested, Dem Lawmakers Could Be Next

A political firestorm has erupted in New Jersey after Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested outside a federal immigration facility — and now several Democratic lawmakers could face charges for allegedly assaulting ICE officers during the chaos. The Biden administration is silent, while Trump officials call it a “shocking breach of the law.”

ICE Facility Showdown Turns Violent

The confrontation unfolded outside the ICE detention facility in Newark, where Mayor Baraka and three Democratic members of Congress — Rob Menendez, LaMonica McIver, and Bonnie Watson Coleman — attempted an unannounced inspection. Homeland Security officials say the group forced their way into restricted areas, sparking a violent clash.

According to DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin, bodycam footage shows Democratic lawmakers “body-slamming a female ICE officer” and physically obstructing law enforcement. “There will likely be more arrests coming,” she warned. Baraka was detained on federal trespassing charges and later released without bond.

Lawmakers Cry “Oversight,” ICE Says “Assault”

The lawmakers, for their part, deny all wrongdoing and insist they were conducting lawful congressional oversight. “We have the right to inspect these facilities without notice,” Rep. Menendez stated defiantly. They claim Baraka was denied entry, but their own access was lawful — and they accuse ICE of manufacturing assault claims to cover up their own misconduct.

Mayor Baraka, fresh out of custody, slammed the administration, saying he was “exercising my right and duty as an elected official.” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has rallied behind the accused, demanding ICE identify the agents involved and release all footage. But acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba made it clear: “No one is above the law.”

Immigration Battle Heats Up

This is just the latest clash between progressive city leaders and federal immigration officials under Trump’s leadership. The Newark facility — already under fire in a city lawsuit — has become a lightning rod for sanctuary city activists and far-left lawmakers pushing open-border policies.

As the investigation unfolds and possible federal charges loom over sitting members of Congress, the stakes are high. With the 2024 election season intensifying, this confrontation highlights the deep divide between law-and-order immigration enforcement and radical progressive resistance. Trump allies are calling for swift justice — and voters across America are watching what comes next.

Watch: Ilhan Omar Has Telling Response When Reporter Asks About Murder of Israeli Diplomats

Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar could not bring herself to provide one word of sympathy when asked about the murder of two Israeli diplomats in Washington, D.C., Wednesday night.

Pro-Palestinian activist Elias Rodriguez, 31, reportedly has confessed to gunning down two staffers from the Israeli embassy — Yaron Lischinsky, 30, and Sarah Milgrim, 26 — as they were leaving the Young Diplomats Reception being held at the Capital Jewish Museum.

The alleged gunman shouted, “Free, Free Palestine!” outside the building after being arrested.A man who shouted “Free Palestine!” fatally shot two Israeli Embassy staffers near a Jewish museum in downtown Washington in what law enforcement believe was an act of targeted violence.

A reporter asked Omar as she was leaving the Capitol Thursday, “Can I get your reaction to the shooting that happened in DC last night?”

“I’m going to go for now,” she answered, never even looking at the reporter.

The congresswoman later posted on the social media platform X, “I am appalled by the deadly shooting at the [Capitol] Jewish Museum last night. Holding the victims, their families, and loved ones in my thoughts and prayers. Violence should have no place in our country.”

Fairly bland as statements go, with, of course, the proviso that she’s against all violence, thereby putting the alleged targeted killing of Jewish people in the same category as any random act of murder.

Most probably know that Omar has a history when it comes to Israel.

Multiple censure resolutions have been brought against her, and she was publicly admonished by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for suggesting on Twitter in 2019 that the only reason people support the Jewish State is “about the Benjamins.”

Journalist Batya Ungar-Sargon, who is Jewish, responded at the time to Omar’s since-deleted tweet, “Would love to know who @IlhanMN thinks is paying American politicians to be pro-Israel, though I think I can guess. Bad form, Congresswoman.”

Omar answered, “AIPAC!” referring to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the most influential pro-Israel advocacy group in Washington, D.C.

Last spring, Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska brought a censure resolution against Omar over comments she made while visiting pro-Palestinian protesters at Columbia University in New York.

“I think it is really unfortunate that people don’t care about the fact that all Jewish kids should be kept safe and that we should not have to tolerate antisemitism or bigotry for all Jewish students, whether they are pro-genocide or anti-genocide,” the congresswoman said, according to the New York Post.

In other words, those American Jewish students who support Israel are “pro-genocide.”

Israel certainly hasn’t engaged in genocide toward the Palestinians in response to the Hamas terror attacks of Oct. 7, 2023. When you inform civilians to evacuate areas ahead of bombings and allow tons of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, that would run exactly contrary to trying to destroy all Palestinians.

Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt responded at the time, “It is patently false and a blood libel to suggest that ANY Jewish students are ‘pro-genocide.’”

“It is abhorrent that a sitting member of Congress would slander an entire group of young people in such a cold, calculated manner. This is how people get killed,” he added.

The Post reported that in February 2023, Republicans removed Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee over her past comments about Israel and Jewish people.

Omar’s belated post on X, Thursday, expressing sympathy for the murder of two Israeli diplomats in Washington must be taken in the context of her history. Her true feelings on the matter were on display when she declined to comment on camera regarding the tragedy.
