Democrats Don’t Want You to Find Out Who Paid for the 'Trump Dossier'

Democrats Don’t Want You to Find Out Who Paid for the 'Trump Dossier'

This might be one of the Democrats' biggest scandals yet.

When Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley said he would demand answers from Donald Trump Jr. and Paul Manafort about last year’s mysterious Trump Tower meeting with Russian operators, Democrats rubbed their hands together.
Russia. Trump bigwigs. Intrigue. This couldn’t get any better for them.
Then, they suddenly decided to let go of the political moment and let the two men testify in private. What gives? The Wall Street Journal reports:
Fusion GPS. That’s the oppo-research outfit behind the infamous and discredited “Trump dossier,” ginned up by a former British spook. Fusion co-founder Glenn Simpson also was supposed to testify at the Grassley hearing, where he might have been asked in public to reveal who hired him to put together the hit job on Mr. Trump, which was based largely on anonymous Russian sources. Turns out Democrats are willing to give up just about anything—including their Manafort moment—to protect Mr. Simpson from having to answer that question.
What if, all this time, Washington and the media have had the Russia collusion story backward? What if it wasn’t the Trump campaign playing footsie with the Vladimir Putin regime, but Democrats? The more we learn about Fusion, the more this seems a possibility.
Well, wouldn’t that be ironic? Fox News has more:
The company behind an infamous anti-Trump dossier also worked "on behalf of the Russian government" to fight U.S. sanctions that had enraged Moscow's elite, a key witness testified to a Senate committee on Thursday.
The testimony of Bill Browder, the CEO and co-founder of Hermitage Capital, shed new light on the dealings of the controversial company Fusion GPS -- which was tied to the dossier of spurious claims about President Trump. According to Browder, the company also conducted a "smear campaign" against him in a bid to fight Russia sanctions.
If Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the Democrats really want answers about Russian meddling, they’re going to have to dig deeper than just the superficial case against the President. If reporters really wanted to make a difference in our nation, they’d start looking into this – and report on it, regardless of where the trail actually leads.
