Florida doctor bounced from post for allegedly selling $50 notes to exempt kids from wearing masks

A Florida emergency room physician has reportedly been removed from his post after selling $50 doctor notes to parents hoping to exempt their children from wearing masks in school.

Dr. Brian Warden’s offer to provide such notes, written on signed stationery, were posted on social media, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. Citing Warden’s alleged inability to conduct himself in a fashion consistent with the “absolute integrity” of Capital Regional Medical Center, a spokeswoman for that organization said Tuesday the doctor would no longer provide care for patients at the facility where he’d been working.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Warden practices in Leon County, which is one 10 counties statewide to challenge Gov. Ron DeSantis’ order against mask mandates. Without a doctor’s note, all students up to the eighth grade must wear face coverings to contain the COVID pandemic, which is running rampant in Florida.

COVID has killed a third-grader and a child under 5 years old in Leon County in the past month. The state recorded its highest daily death count during the pandemic with 228 new fatalities reported Wednesday morning.

Warden has recently moved from Philadelphia to Tallahassee, Fla.
