But Ted Cruz just took the gloves off on Joe Biden with this epic smackdown that will infuriate the Left.

On Monday, Joe Biden told reporters that his administration was considering a gas tax holiday to help Americans deal with the pain they’re feeling at the pump right now.

He also mentioned the possibility of sending out gas rebate cards for Americans to use to fill up their tanks.

“Yes, I’m considering it,” Biden replied when reporters asked if he was considering a gas tax holiday.

“I hope I have a decision based on data I’m looking for by the end of the week,” he continued.

During an interview on Tuesday with Newsmax TV’s “National Report,” Ted Cruz ripped Joe Biden for considering a gas tax holiday, calling it nothing more than a political “gimmick” to try to help save Democrats from a wipeout at the polls this fall.

“Of course, it’s a gimmick,” Cruz said. 

Joe Biden and the Democrats are terrified

Cruz said the reality is that Joe Biden is “scared” because he recognizes Democrats are “headed to a bloodbath in November because the American people don’t like the direction we’re on.” 

Polls backup Cruz’s assertion. 

A recent Quinnipiac poll showed only 32 percent of Americans approve of the job Biden is doing as President.

Biden gets his worst marks on the economy, particularly in the area of skyrocketing gas prices.

Of course, Joe Biden refuses to accept any responsibility for record high gas prices, instead blaming it on everything from Vladimir Putin to greedy oil companies to Trump and his “insurrectionist” supporters.

But what Joe Biden and the Democrats refuse to admit is that they like high gas prices because it helps them force their green agenda in America.

Biden’s extreme green agenda

Ted Cruz called out Joe Biden for intentionally sending gas prices through the roof.

“When it comes to inflation, the price of everything is going up — especially gas,” Cruz said. “And the thing to understand about gas prices — this is not an accident. This is not an unintended side effect. This is what Joe Biden campaigned on. He told the American people when he was campaigning for president, ‘If you elect me, I will shut down drilling. I’ll shut down drilling on federal lands, I’ll shut down onshore drilling, I’ll shut down offshore drilling,’ and that’s what he’s done. He’s followed through on his promise,” Cruz explained.

In 2019, under President Trump, Cruz said America was producing 13 million barrels of oil per day.  

But now that Joe Biden is in office, we’re producing 11.5 million barrels per day, a drop of 1.5 million.

“They want it to go to $6, $7, $8 — they’re aiming for $10 a gallon,” Cruz said, adding that “they want to force you to sell your pickup truck and buy a little Prius and obey their demands.”

Ted Cruz warns Biden

Ted Cruz didn’t just offer criticism of the Biden administration.

He also offered Joe Biden some advice that most Americans wish he would take.

“And Joe Biden, get the hell off the backs of the American people,” Cruz thundered. “Stop playing games.”

Cruz said if the President really wanted to bring down gas prices, then he could “approve the Keystone pipeline,” “open up drilling onshore and offshore,” “open up ANWR for drilling,” and “approve permits to build pipelines.”

But Joe Biden won’t do that because his goal has been high gas prices from day one.

“Joe Biden doesn’t want to do that because he’s in hock to the Green New Deal radicals, and this is a sign of desperation for the election in November,” Cruz concluded.
