Isaiah’s ‘Christmas’ Message Isn’t Preached Much Anymore
Almost every Christmas message you’ll hear today has a singular focus on a baby in a barn. And that’s where their story ends.
That’s a little bit like talking about the record-setting military build-up, training, and practice exercises in a staging era in 1944 England and then neglecting to mention the context of Five Historic Beaches: Utah, Omaha, Juno, Sword, Gold.
Because the First Coming of the Son of God was a little bit like the Beachhead of that D-Day invasion — only better. Both events signified the beginning of the end for the Forces of Tyranny.
There was more work to be done, but it everything that followed rested on the success of that first event.
We never really hear about it put in those terms, do we?
You will hear it here. And if you think that’s yummy stuff, just wait until we really get to the unpacking of Isaiah’s promises!
