The Murderous Spirit of Cain

Doug's message recorded at Liberty Fellowship, Wimberley, Texas (Text: 1 John 3:11 and following)

There’s a huge difference from talking about God being or commanding love, to finding out where the rubber meets the road in practical application of LIVING OUT that kind of love.

Because biblical love is NOT that dazed look a milk-drunk infant has on his face when he’s just filled his belly and is dozing off in mama’s arms.

The real thing puts a serious demand on the believer’s life. The kind of love we’re called to give away is the same kind of love He gave us in the first place. There’s no room for petty grudges and half-measures.

The real thing requires us to cowboy up and do some hard things.

Because the alternative is not just a second-class believer.

The alternative is cutting yourself off from the gift of eternal life God is offering… and that’s one HELL of a price to pay for holding a grudge.

The apostle John, who himself once asked Jesus if he should call down fire from heaven to consume the lives of people he hated, had to be set straight by the sinless Son of God.

And here, he’s making sure that WE all get the picture, too.

And if you think this message is one some ‘other’ guy desperately needs to hear..? You just might be the one who needs it the most.
