Elder: Had ‘News’ Media Done Its Job, Obama Would Not Have Become President

The suppression of the Obama-Farrakhan photo is just the latest example of the degree to which Obama benefited from extraordinarily special treatment.

A photojournalist withheld publication of a 2005 photograph of a smiling then-Sen. Barack Obama with a beaming Louis Farrakhan, the anti-Semitic, anti-white leader of the Nation of Islam.
The occasion was a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus. The photographer, Askia Muhammad, said that almost immediately after he took the picture a CBC staffer called and said, “We have to have the picture back.” Muhammad later surrendered the disk with the photo to Farrakhan’s chief of staff. “I gave the picture up at the time and basically swore secrecy,” Muhammad said in an interview with the Trice Edney News Wire. “But after the (presidential) nomination was secured and all the way up until the inauguration; then for eight years after he was President, it was kept under cover.”
Why this concern in 2005 when then-Sen. Obama, just elected, had not announced his plan to run for the presidency? The Jerusalem Post writes: “As there was already talk in 2005 of Obama running for president, Muhammad said he and others did not want to harm the Democrat’s chances. It isn’t clear who was employing Muhammad at the time, but he had previously worked for the Nation of Islam publication, The Final Call.”
Would the photo have mattered? Could it have derailed Obama’s chance to become president?
Harvard Law School professor emeritus and lifelong liberal Alan Dershowitz says he would not have campaigned for Obama had he been aware of this photograph. Dershowitz says: “Louis Farrakhan is a virulent anti-Semite. He’s called Judaism a ‘gutter religion.’ He’s anti-American. He is a horrible, horrible human being.
“And if I had known that the President had posed smilingly with (Farrakhan) when he was a senator, I would not have campaigned for Barack Obama. It would have influenced my decision. Look, I threatened to leave the Democratic Party if Keith Ellison were elected as chairman because of his association with Farrakhan. You don’t associate with a bigot. You don’t associate with an anti-Semite.”
The suppression of the Obama-Farrakhan photo is just the latest example of the degree to which Obama benefited from extraordinarily special treatment.
Obama’s longtime association with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ would likely have derailed his candidacy had media pounced on this as they did the Trump “Access Hollywood” tape. But for Fox News’ coverage of Wright and the videotapes of his fiery sermons, the other major media would have avoided or downplayed Obama’s 20-year association with a pastor who gave fiery sermons critical of America and who had a longtime friendship with Farrakhan.
Ezra Klein, then with The Washington Post, set up a private internet forum he called JournoList, which served as an online gathering place for several hundred like-minded (aka liberal) reporters. When the Jeremiah Wright scandal broke, several reporters on the “J-List” literally schemed of ways to deflect attention from the scandal. About JournoList, Obama and Wright, the Daily Caller wrote: “In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, ‘Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.'”
Then there’s the Los Angeles Times, which, to this day, has not and will not publish even a transcript of the “Khalidi tapes.” Rashid Khalidi, an Obama friend and a University of Chicago Palestinian-American professor of Middle East studies, had a going-away party to celebrate his new post at Columbia University. Someone gave the Los Angeles Times a videotape of this 2003 event that Obama attended, where he reminisced about their friendship in a tribute to the professor.
Khalidi was an outspoken supporter of Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Liberation Organization. But what he said and what others said at this farewell party, we will never know. Were attendees bashing Israel? Did Obama bash Israel? The Times says it promised the unnamed source who provided the videotape not to air or reproduce the tape. The paper, whose editorial board endorsed Obama, claims it simply kept its promise to a source. If a tape could have ended Trump’s 2016 campaign, would the LA Times, whose editorial board twice endorsed Obama and considered Trump a danger to the world, have sat on it?
Joan Walsh of the liberal website Salon.com described how fellow journalists were “swooning” during the presidential candidacy over the first-time senator from Illinois. “I was struck,” Walsh said, “when I got to Iowa and New Hampshire in January, by how our media colleagues were just swooning over Barack Obama. That is not too strong a word. They were swooning (emphasis added). I was at a speech. … The biggest names in our business were there. … They could repeat some of his speech lines to one another. It was like a Bruce Springsteen concert where the fans sing along.”
Still, Trump won. Amazing.

Abortion Activist Says She Wishes She Had Aborted Son

"I love my son, but I was tricked into having him."

7839
Wouldn't it be nice to read a blog post by your mother saying that she wishes she had aborted you? The 15-year-old son of abortion enthusiast Cherisse Scott has written just such a post.
Scott is the founder and CEO of SisterReach whose mission is "supporting the reproductive autonomy of women and girls of color, poor women, rural women and their families through the framework of Reproductive Justice." They somehow think this is a Christian organization and have scripture on their website. On the site, Scott's biography says that she "came to know the framework of Reproductive Justice as a woman in need of a safe abortion. Her experience of being misguided by services offered through a crisis pregnancy center posing as an abortion clinic set in motion the work she would commit to and women she would fight for."
She really wants her son to know she wishes she had ended his life. In case there was any doubt, she wrote about it, too:
Here are some of the things her son can read in his mother's words:
"I have a 15-year-old son who I love dearly but have struggled to support for the majority of his life — a reminder every day of the lie I was told by a crisis pregnancy center that manipulated my decision making. A lie that vulnerable women and girls face trying to control their reproductive decisions every day…I know firsthand just how harmful these places can be: I was intentionally misled by one, and am still affected by their lie."
What was the lie? They showed her video of what an abortion actually was, gave her an ultrasound to make her understand that she carried a live baby, and explained that there were risks to future fertility if she had an abortion. Those are not lies. There are things in this piece that don't ring true, though:
"After manipulating me into continuing my pregnancy, they sent me home with a bottle, a onesie, and a rattle. To date, that is the last support of any kind I ever received from them."
Crisis pregnancy centers have a satisfaction rate of about 99 percent, as The Daily Wire reports, so it is hard to believe that they are simply lying to people and sending them on their way. They might have found her help through other ministries or organizations, so maybe she didn't get help from them specifically, but she would almost certainly have received the help she needed if this was a vaguely reputable center and she asked for the help. Still, she clearly didn't want this child, so why didn't she consider adoption? She addresses that, too.
"For most women and girls of color, informed by the American legacy of abandonment faced by our children left in both private and federally funded child protective care, we would rather keep our babies and figure it out, or end our pregnancies as an act of love to save our children from probable suffering."
An act of love? No, that is an act of selfishness. If you think your child is going to suffer, let it be raised by a family that is suffering from the lack of a child. As far as abandonment goes, it is interesting that nowhere in this piece is the word "father" mentioned. That is the most telling abandonment that this child has experienced, and he is now being abandoned by a mother who has dedicated her life to helping people end the lives of their children because she wanted to end his.
This piece is all kinds of icky, and the real victim here is her son. No kid should have to read that his mother wishes he were dead.

PETA Wants Vegan Pizza in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

“Modern kids are embracing vegan food, so why shouldn’t modern Ninja Turtles?”

23
If you know the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, you know at least two things: You know that they are heroes on the half-shell and you know what their favorite food is.

But wait? Is that cheese and pepperoni Michelangelo is eating? FOR SHAME.
PETA has asked Nickelodeon to have the turtles to have the turtles eat vegan pizza in the upcoming movie Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In a press release, PETA stated its case:
“Modern kids are embracing vegan food, so why shouldn’t modern Ninja Turtles?” asks PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange. “Vegan pizza is popular, and it’s healthier and far kinder to animals than old-fashioned dairy cheese pizza. PETA thinks that’s something the ‘Heroes in a Half Shell’ would support.”
In a letter to Nickleodeon's president Cyma Zarghami, PETA's Lauren Thomasson said "I’ve got to believe that the Turtles would be willing to help save other animals’ lives."
Must every single thing be about saving the planet? Even pizza?

Joy Reid: Only Fox News Viewers Have Heard of MS-13

"He makes it sound like they're the biggest threat.”

7725
During his State of the Union address Tuesday night, President Trump made mention of the evil MS-13 gang which has infiltrated our nation and internationally. He even invited to the event the parents of two teens whom MS-13 had brutally murdered; when Trump acknowledged them during his speech, they received a standing ovation. This didn't sit well with the grumpy Democrats in attendance, because their party craves power above all else and therefore they are indifferent to the suffering caused by the rampant criminality that follows in the wake of their open borders obsession.
Case in point: as reported by Fox News, while analyzing the speech with Hardball host Chris Matthews, MSNBC host Joy Reid tried to diminish President Trump’s mention of the "savage" gang by claiming that MS-13 isn’t a major issue and the only people that have even heard of the gang are viewers of Fox News.
“He gives a speech tonight," Reid said, "in which he makes it sound like the biggest issue in the United States, the biggest threat is MS-13, a gang nobody that doesn't watch Fox News has ever heard of. So he makes it sound like they're the biggest threat.”
Of course, Trump did not make MS-13 sound like the biggest issue facing the country. His point was that "glaring loopholes" in our broken immigration system allowed MS-13 to metastasize across the country, and law-abiding American citizens are paying the price.
It is patently false to claim that MS-13 is some obscure little group of thugs that "only" Fox News viewers know about. Fox News itself identified many, many news outlets that have reported on the gang, including Reid's own MSNBC:
A search of “MS-13” on CNN’s website reveals dozens of articles that mention the gang. The gang has been mentioned in an assortment of New York Times headlines in recent memory, such as a June 2017 article titled, “39 members of MS-13 are arrested, authorities say,” and a July 2017 article headlined, “Trump will visit Long Island in the wake of MS-13 gang arrests.”
If the Times is too high-brow for the MSNBC star, USA Today has also covered the gang extensively. A video on the site from Nov. 2017 is headlined, “MS-13 gang member arrested in Maryland murder.”
USA Today even covered the gang back in 2012 when the Obama-era feds decided to label MS-13 a criminal group.
[...]
“MS-13 is an example of some of the worst of criminal gang behavior,” Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., told Matthews on the very same show on which Reid appeared.
News organizations, including the Washington Post, HuffPost, The New Yorker, The Hill, New York Post, PBS, New York Daily News, Los Angeles Times, Daily Mail, Time and Slate have all covered the dangerous gang.
When asked about Reid's callous comments by Laura Ingraham on her Fox News show, Elizabeth Alvarado - one of the parents who were honored at the State of the Union address - shook her head and said, "I have no words."
The upshot is not that Trump is exaggerating the threat of MS-13, but that Joy Reid is downplaying it, because as a Democrat, she doesn't care about the downsides for American citizens of the left's single-minded focus on embracing and expanding illegal immigration in order to swell the Democrat party's voter base. In the process of dismissing Trump's mention of the threat as merely throwing red meat to the “audience he wants applause from,” Reid was also dismissing those grieving parents and the countless others whose lives have been traumatically affected by such criminality.
Joy Reid said this because she and the Democrats don't care about victimized American citizens. They don't care who dies or who suffers as long as more and more illegal aliens, a significant proportion of whom are violent criminals, flood into the country and vote Democrat.

Public School’s Social Justice ’Equality Crusade’ Lowering Student Scores

“Academic rigor is unraveling, high school reading and math test scores are sliding, and students increasingly fear bullying and persecution.”

5749
The Weekly Standard has published an alarming report on the failures of one Minnesota town’s public schools after it launched an initiative that put equality of students above education. Now, a district known for high quality schools has turned into a “social justice factory” that is churning out uneducated SJWs.
As Katherine Kersten writes in her article, Edina public schools shifted its curriculum in 2013 and began teaching from the “All for All” plan. Though it was sold as promoting racial harmony within the student body, it was really a plan to show that institutional biases are keeping minority students at the bottom of the class while white students excelled.
But a few short years later, Edina schools went from being the “gold standard” to nearly no standards at all.
“Academic rigor is unraveling, high school reading and math test scores are sliding, and students increasingly fear bullying and persecution,” writes Kersten.
That’s because all subjects are taught through the lens of identity politics with heavy emphasis on the dangers of “white privilege” and it starts as early as kindergarten. Teachers, who are hired only if they are “racially conscious,” hand out assignments centered on racism, LGBT issues, feminism, Marxism, immigration, Black Lives Matter, and dismantling social constructs.
But not all students are on board with the school’s “equality crusade,” as Kersten describes. One student rated one of the classes online and said it “should be renamed… ‘Why white males are bad, and how oppressive they are.’” That bad rating has been deleted from Edina’s “Rate My Teachers” site. Conservative students have also launched a lawsuit against one high school, citing free speech restrictions by faculty.
Kersten reports that some children have been pulled out of the schools over the politically-charged curriculum:
For example, Orlando Flores and his wife pulled their son—an academic superstar—out of Edina High School in his senior year to escape its hyper-political environment.
Flores, who fled a Marxist regime in Nicaragua as a child, had this to say: “Years ago, we fled Communism to escape indoctrination, absolutist thinking and restrictions on our freedom of speech. If we see these traits in our schools in America, we must speak out and oppose it.”
Flores says that when his son was at Edina High, teachers routinely pushed politicians and political positions they favored, shamed and browbeat students with dissenting views, and forced them to defend themselves against baseless allegations of racism. According to his son, he says, classroom discussions were often “one-sided indoctrination sessions,” and students feared their grades would be penalized if they spoke out.
“All in All” has been nothing short of disastrous for Edina public schools. Black students — the very demographic the plan was supposed to raise up — are doing worse. Overall, black student proficiency is down in reading and math, especially in high school grades:
Math scores for black students in 11th grade at Edina Senior High dropped from 31 percent proficiency in 2014 to 14.6 percent in 2017. In reading, scores for black students in 10th grade at Edina Senior High dropped from 51.7 percent proficiency in 2014 to 40 percent in 2017.
“There’s been a single positive point of data,” Kersten adds. “Black students’ reading scores — all ages, all grades — have slightly increased, from 45.5 percent proficiency in 2014 to 46.4 percent proficiency in 2017.”
So, in three years it increased less than one percent. Congrats, guys!
Progressive politics/education is anything but progressive.
