THE NEPHILIM AND POP CULTURE
THIS IS PART 5 IN THE BEGINNING AND END NEPHILIM SERIES
Thought not known by many in the Christian community, there is a massive amount of books, TV shows, movies and even video games that have taken the account of the Sons of God, daughters of men and Nephilim in Genesis 6 and adopted it for entertainment purposes. In almost all of these instances, the Biblical message of salvation through the Messianic bloodline, God’s purpose of protecting humanity and the unrestrained evil of fallen angels and their Nephilim offspring are omitted. Instead, the Word of God is twisted depicting the enemies of humanity as heroic, attractive and noble beings. The widespread popularity of this deception is just another example of how far society has moved from an understanding of the Bible and the Christian faith.
NEPHILIM NOVELS – ROMANCE WITH CHILDREN OF THE FALLEN
The past several years has seen an explosion of fiction novels that contain Nephilim as the central characters. The majority of these books focus on romantic relations between either human women and fallen angels, Nephilim or demons. This of course is the authors’ take on the Biblical account of the Nephilim:
“And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” – Genesis 6:1-6.
The sinful fornication between fallen angels and human women led to unprecedented catastrophe for the human race. The giants, hybrid beings, were wicked conquerors who used their supernatural strength and fighting prowess to plunge the world into chaos and violence. At the same time their continued reproduction with the human race was corrupting the human genetic code and jeopardizing the birth of the prophesied Messiah who would one day defeat Satan and redeem humanity (we document this in our article Bloodlines of the Nephilim – A Biblical Study).
But is this portrayed in the Nephilim novels available today? Not at all. Here are some examples:
AFTER THE FALL
In this novel a female fallen archangel has a romantic relationship with a human threatened:
There’s a Spanish proverb that says, “From the thorn and the pain, a flower is born.” Naomi Duran never really understood what that meant until she became an archangel. Finally reunited with the love of her life, Naomi thought she had everlasting love and happiness in Heaven. Even with the rebellious Lash by her side, she learns that life as an archangel isn’t easy. When secrets of the past are finally revealed, tempers flare, brother is pitted against brother, and Naomi and Lash face the greatest threat to their relationship: choosing among love, family, or duty. In the end, can this family of broken angels forgive past mistakes, or will they carry the thorn in their hearts forever, ripping their family apart? (source).
THE FIRE WITHIN (THE NEPHILIM BOOK 2)
“When private detective Elizabeth Rand witnesses a murder in the snow, she’s in for the case of her life. Mysterious creatures are killing people, and soon she’s hired to look into one of the deaths. That means working with one of the city’s sexiest detectives, Dante Zucco. As a Nephilim—the offspring of a human and an angel—Dante’s been hunting the demons known as Shemyaza for years, and Beth’s case stinks of one. But while he can see the Shem’s miasma, she can’t, and she refuses to believe she’s in over her head. As infuriating as she is, he can’t stay away—if she died, she’d take a piece of his heart with her.Dante’s too loud, too brash, too everything…but Beth can’t resist him. And that might be a deadly problem. Dante’s got a sense the Shem are out for his blood, literally, and that means anyone he cares about is in danger. If the Shem realize they can kill Beth to hurt him, it’ll take all the inner fire he’s got to keep her safe.” (source).
In this particular book the Nephilim are heroes who fight against demons in order to protect humanity. But note that the demons are called “Shem.” Shem in the Bible was the son of Noah – the faithful patriarch who The Lord chose to restart humanity after The Flood. It was through Shem that the lineage leading to the Messiah would continue. But in this fictional account “the Shem” are evil demons.
IMMORTAL REBORN – ARIANNA’S CHOICE (CHILDREN OF ANGELS BOOK 1)

“When Alexandria Grace Groaban was a child, she learned she was very different from other children and adults she encountered. She saw and heard things that no child should ever bear witness to. She knew details of things and people long since passed, and she could hear voices and repeat them in whatever language she heard during the scenes which played out before her young and impressionable eyes.Through an encounter with someone she thought to be her guardian angel, Alexandria was given a reprieve so that she might know some normalcy in her childhood. But at the age of twenty-one, Alexandria returned home to her family’s small estate outside Oxford, England for Christmas, and learned the hard way that her grace period was about to come to an abrupt and vicious end. Now, whether for better or worse, she will find herself on the edge of a great precipice. One that will call her into action and into a world that she could never have fathomed existed. For Alexandria to know who and what she truly is, she will have to rise to the challenge of a battle that has been waged for millennia by beings first spoken of in Genesis, and embrace that which has lay dormant within her since she was a child.” (source).
INSTRUMENTS OF THE ANGELS (HALLOWS & NEPHILIM: WATERS DARK AND DEEP #1)
“Brie van Rossum is still recovering from her mother’s death when she discovers that she is a Hallow, a descendant of humans and archangels. But she’s not just any Hallow. She’s one of the last daughters of Michael—like Milena, her mother. And now, she doesn’t know which of her new supernatural acquaintances she can trust. As she pulls back the veil on the supernatural world, she learns that not only has she inherited Milena’s powers, but her enemies as well—and now that Milena’s protection has worn off, those enemies are headed toward her to wipe out the daughters of Michael for good.Untrained and unsure of herself, she must navigate her mother’s omissions and half-truths to keep her identity secret, unite her allies, and most importantly, stay alive.A broken family, a deadly secret, an impossible romance… Instruments of the Angels is the first book in Waters Dark and Deep, a young adult urban fantasy series by Monica Leonelle (recommended for teens 14+).” (source).
In Scripture, Michael is the archangel who protects Israel. It is Michael who during the Great Tribulation will wage war against Satan and his fallen angels, evicting them from Heaven for good:
“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” – Revelation 12:7-10.
Instruments of Angels distorts the Biblical account by making Michael one of the rebel angels of Genesis 6 – fathering numerous children with human women (with those accounts described in detail – hence the “teen 14+” rating).
THE TEMPTING: SEDUCING THE NEPHILIM
“Eve Dowling left Thibodaux Hospital and never looked back. She didn’t want to look back… ever. She and her son Philip moved into the west wing of the Gregiore Estate mansion with husband-to-be, Beau Le Masters and, by all appearances, they were already the perfect, happy family. Was Eve’s life a dream? Some days were harder than others when she could not shake the shadowy fear that seeped into her sleep and turned her dreams into nightmares. Nightmares of being ravaged by an exotic creature that she comes to believe is a Nephilim. The horrors were different from night to night and yet they were the same: broken images, flashes of events, people, places, pieces of a broken puzzle that didn’t fit together. An emotional story of love threatened by creatures first described in ancient texts as the Nephilim or “fallen Sons of God.” Could Beau Le Masters himself actually be a Nephilim? Will Eve have the strength to vanquish the evil that surrounds her and her son, Philip? Will true love be able to conquer pure evil? Can she resist the Nephilim? All is revealed in The Tempting! (source).
In all these books, the Nephilim are romanticized and portrayed as noble, heroic and irresistibly attractive. Despite references to the Book of Genesis, there is none of the truth from Scripture about this sinful era in Old Testament history.
The Bible says: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5:20-21). What spirit inspired these authors to add to Scripture in order to promote rebels and denigrate God?
BIBLICAL TRUTH ABOUT FALLEN ANGELS WHO SINNED WITH HUMAN WOMEN
The Book of Jude records the fate of the fallen angels who married human women and bore children with them:
“And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” – Jude 1:6-7.
Rather than being romantic, heroic, righteous beings – the fallen Sons of God of Genesis 6 were evil and punished immediately by being cast into the abyss where they remain locked away until the end times Great Tribulation.
“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;” – 2 Peter 2:4-6.
Again Scripture confirms that the sinning angel were “cast down to hell” as a judgment for their sinful relations with human women. And that the world itself was “spared not” because of the corruption brought on by the fallen angels and Nephilim giants of Genesis 6. By twisting the Biblical account, the Nephilim fiction books have moved the minds of those unfamiliar with the Bible even farther from Scripture. And in some cases of Nephilim entertainment, it can even promote sympathy for the Antichrist.
THE NEPHILIM AS OUR SAVIORS?
THE FALLEN SERIES
In 2006, ABC Family Channel (now known as Freeform) released Fallen, a mini-series about a teenage boy who learns he is a Nephilim and savior of the world. The book draws liberally from the Book of Enoch (an inter-testamental book that is not a part of the Biblical canon and was not written by the Enoch of the Bible). Many of the angelic characters in Fallen are named after characters from the Book of Enoch. The series was based on a book of a similar title (and the novel which really helped propel “Nephilim fiction” into popularity). Here is a clip that summarizes the film:
And here is the synopsis:
“On Aaron Corbett’s 18th birthday, he begins exhibiting strange abilities, such as the ability to talk to his dog, Gabe, and other animals, leading to the conclusion that he is a Nephilim, the offspring of a human and an angel. Now Aaron must defend himself and his family from the Powers, warrior angels dispatched to Earth to eliminate the Nephilim “abominations”, while trying to find a way to live a normal life. He is befriended by Ezekiel, an eccentric but kind-hearted fallen angel, and the former leader of the Powers, archangel Camael. It is revealed Aaron is the Redeemer of prophecy, a Nephilim with the ability to “redeem” the fallen angels and return them to Heaven. After a battle with the Powers, resulting in the apparent death of Ezekiel, Aaron leaves his adopted family and joins Camael in order to fulfill his destiny.”
Rather than being an enemy of humanity – Aaron, the lead character, is “the Redeemer” – the Messiah who saves fallen angels, sending them back to Heaven, presumably forgiven of their sins.
The Book of 2 Timothy says of Jesus Christ:
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” – 2 Timothy 2:3-6.
It is Jesus Christ who serves as the “mediator” for humanity. Salvation only comes through The Lord. And the Bible is very clear that God Himself is our Redeemer:
“As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.” – Isaiah 47:4.“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;” – Isaiah 44:24-25.
Even more stunning is that Aaron’s quest ultimately leads him to “The Light Bringer” – the villain who of course is ultimately revealed to be Satan. What Lucifer wants is for Aaron to “redeem him” allowing his return to Heaven. In their final confrontation Aaron finds out that he is in fact the son of the Devil. Aaron is essentially the Antichrist – and yet is cast as the hero of this film series. And to no surprise, Jesus Christ is never mentioned. The Bible says of this kind of deception:
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” – 2 Corinthians 11:3-4.
As Beginning And End has detailed for years, Satan has used entertainment to subtly poison the minds of unbelievers and blind them from the light of the Gospel. The Fallen series (which was targeted at children and youth) takes that deception to the extreme by making the Antichrist a hero.
THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES – NEPHILIM DECEPTION
A similar elevation of Nephilim to to the role of saviors is found in the extremely popular book and film series The Mortal Instruments. In our article on the movie – Beginning And End detailed the film’s focus on a young woman who learns she is a Nephilim and prophesied savior:
“When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to Pandemonium, a club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder – much less an murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air, It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?Equally startled by her ability to see them, the murderers explain themselves as Shadowhunters: a secret tribe of Nephilim warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, Nephilim warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace Wayland, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours, Clary’s mother disappears, Clary is attacked and almost killed by a demon, and is soon pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance.” (source).
And here is the trailer:
The distortions of the Bible and blasphemy in the film is rampant. It references Genesis, celebrates witchcraft and very subtly promotes the Mark of the Beast. Its back story even states that a fallen angel named Raziel shed his blood to save angels and humanity – with no mention of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. For more information on this movie and its satanic deception see our article here.

The Syfy TV series Dominion also focused on a young man who learns he was a Nephilim prophesied to redeem the fallen angels and save the world:
Note that in the opening shot, the voiceover speaks of God with an image of an eye on the screen (in the occult the All Seeing Eye is a reference to Lucifer). These shows have a consistent theme where God has abandoned humanity, is mad at the world or too distant and unconcerned to get involved. And The Lord Jesus Christ is never mentioned at all – keeping the Gospel “hidden” from unsuspecting viewers.
VIDEO GAMES PROMOTING NEPHILIM GIANTS AS HEROES
Devil May Cry 5, a popular installment in the Devil May Cry series, also promotes the idea of Nephilim-as-Savior. We explore that game in detail in our article: DMC: Devil May Cry 5 – Rise of Satanic Video Games.
Even some commercials show that Hollywood has a very keen understanding of this:

What spirit inspired this commercial?
BEWARE OF END TIMES DECEPTION
The Lord Jesus Christ warned that one sign of the impending end times would be unprecedented deception:
“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” – Matthew 24:3-5.
The world is being groomed to accept a false Messianic figure who will pretend to be the true Christ but is in fact a deceiver. The Apostle Paul referred to this as the “strong delusion”:
“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:7-12.
The Antichrist will win the world over through the power of his “lying signs and wonders.” His miraculous power will help deceive the world into believing he is a god. And already we see how pop culture is planting seeds of this message that perhaps fallen angels, Satan or even the Antichrist himself are not only redeemable but even our saviors. Do not be deceived.
TRUST IN THE TRUE SAVIOR
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” – John 3:17.
Time and time again in the Bible God reminds Israel and all the world that He and He alone is the true Redeemer. It is only God who can provide forgiveness of sins. It was only God who could rightfully atone for the sins of humanity through the death of Christ on the cross. And it is only God who can give eternal life through the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Nephilim popular entertainment of today makes no mention of sin or the work of Christ. This is no coincidence. The Bible says:
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” – 2 Corinthians 4:3-4.
If you are not a Christian do not let the twisted spiritual messages of pop culture blind you from the agenda at play – to deny Jesus Christ and distort the Bible. Instead look to what God’s Word truly says and know you can receive free forgiveness from the true Savior – Jesus Christ. Unlike the Nephilim, the Devil or any fallen angel, Christ proved His love for humanity on the cross 2,000 years ago. Trust in it. And for Christians – continue to share the Gospel and the true account of our Precious Redeemer – you are on the front lines against the deception of the world.

EXCITING NEW ANNOUNCEMENT – JUDGMENT OF THE NEPHILIM
Although we have completed all 7 parts of the Nephilim Series the study is far from over. Beginning And End is very pleased to announce the release of the first comprehensive Biblical study on the giants and the Genesis 6 account –Judgment Of The Nephilim. This is the first time we have agreed to contribute to an external project. A great deal of our own years of research has gone toward this book and it is filled with startling revelations on the giants that you will not find in any other book on this topic. Judgment Of The Nephilim surveys every passage in the Holy Bible on the giants – many which are rarely connected to the Nephilim. Among the many questions it addresses are:
- The Biblical location of the heavenly portal used by angels to enter the earthly realm.
- Who was the first mother of a Nephilim?
- How can an angel have a child with a human woman?
- The specific timing and description of God’s punishment of the rebel Sons of God and the Nephilim
- How did the Nephilim return after the flood?
- The Biblical connection between demons and the Nephilim
- How did the Nephilim return after the flood and is the Nephilim DNA around today?
All these answers and many, many more from the Bible. Once our ministry started researching the Nephilim in-depth we realized there was a great deal of untapped, rarely quoted Christian and Jewish writings on the giants that answer many, many of the questions we all have on this thought-provoking topic. Now we have the answers. This is a must-own book if you are a reader on the subject of the Nephilim giants. The trailer is below:
