If You Can’t Sell Your Hysteria To Adults, Try Kids

Hysterias are to the Left what oxygen is to biological life.

The entire American left — the mainstream media, the environmentalist movement and Democratic politicians in particular — are celebrating the involvement of teenagers and even younger children in protesting the world’s “inaction” with regard to global warming.
And not just the American left, of course. The left throughout the world is celebrating. A 16-year-old Swedish girl whose contempt for adults is breathtaking is an international hero. Congressional Democrats invited her to testify in Congress, and the United Nations has likewise invited her.
The mayor and city council of New York City further politicized their city’s public schools by allowing students to skip school to actively participate in a global warming protest.
The message of young climate change activists is: “You adults aren’t doing your job. As a result, we have no future.” As a sympathetic reporter — are there any non-sympathetic reporters? — for the Los Angeles Times put it, “(T)eens are still waiting for a sign that their elders get it.”
The Times’ coverage is typical. It reported: “Underneath the activism lies a simple truth: Young people are incredibly scared about climate change. They see it as a profound injustice and an existential threat to their generation and those that will follow. …
“‘They do worry, and they worry kind of a lot,’ said Maria Ojala, an environmental psychologist at Orebro University in Sweden. …
“Arielle Martinez Cohen” — an 18-year-old Los Angeles activist with the youth climate group Zero Hour — “remembers reading a report from an Australian think tank that warned the human species could face extinction by 2050 if society doesn’t get its act together.
“‘I almost imagine, like, an apocalypse-type thing happening,’ Arielle said.
“Many young people say they can’t fathom bringing kids of their own into the world. …
“‘It’s not ethical. It’s literally a burning house,’ Lana said.
“‘That’s something that’s not realistic,’ agreed her twin sister, Yena.
“And how can they even think about college or contemplate their careers when faced with so much uncertainty?
“‘It’s something I feel every single day,’ Yena said. ‘I work really hard at school and I do all these things, and I’m like, “What am I working for? Do I have a future?”‘”
It is critical to remember that hysterias — such as Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, “endemic and systemic racism in America,” the heterosexual AIDS “crisis” in America and the “rape culture” on American college campuses — are to the left what oxygen is to biological life. No oxygen, no life; no hysteria, no left.
Apparently, however, the left-wing hysteria about global warming leading to the virtual extinction of life on Earth has not moved enough adults. Many adults who do not deny that the Earth is getting warmer — such as Danish writer and environmentalist thinker Bjorn Lomborg — do deny that the threat is “existential” and do believe that the left’s solutions, such as the Green New Deal, will damage the world far more than will carbon emissions. Proof that the left is hysterical is its unwillingness to promote nuclear power — a completely clean, non-fossil fuel-based source of power. It provides France with 70 percent of its energy. Anyone who really believes life on Earth is endangered would grasp at the nuclear power lifeboat. That they do not proves what many of us have believed from the beginning: The “existential threat” scenario is another left-wing falsehood used to whip up hysteria that will lead to the left’s control of the economy and society.
And that takes us back to the children: If you can’t sell your hysteria to adults, try kids. And that is what the left has done. After all, no one is as malleable or as easily indoctrinated as children.
Consider this: If the left didn’t tell them the world is going to end, they wouldn’t worry about it. They’d be enjoying their young lives, maybe even learning to appreciate that they live in the freest country at the most prosperous time in human history. Instead, thanks to leftists (who are children in adult bodies), they live in their grip of “existential eco-anxiety.”
This is but one more way in which the left abuses children (along with telling them they are neither boys nor girls but whatever they later choose to be; teaching them contempt for their country; and depriving them of the greatest source of morality, meaning, community and happiness — any of the Judeo-Christian religions).
It’s depressing, and it’s frightening.
The scariest movies are those featuring brainwashed children. This horror show is happening in real life.

Goodbye Plato

Farewell to a great lawyer and a great friend.

0
Plato Cacheris died on Thursday in Arlington after complications from pneumonia. He was 90, and widely regarded as one of the top defense attorneys in a town that hires lots of them.
I met Plato during Iran-Contra, when he defended Fawn Hall, and we became friends. For years thereafter, we periodically lunched together at al Tiramisu, an excellent southern Italian restaurant around the corner from his Connecticut Avenue office.
You can read the epitaphs most everywhere, and they all say the same thing.  He fought fiercely for his clients, whatever he thought of them. He defended those who had been framed, and also outright traitors. He was a wizard in the court room, blessed with a delightful sense of humor and a long career in and outside the government. He knew the origins of many contemporary debates, as for example the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which he helped craft when he served in the Justice Department in the 1970s.
He was also generous to a fault. Just ask Larry Franklin, who was trapped by the FBI into agreeing to plead guilty to bringing to his West Virginia home classified documents he was technically required to keep in his Pentagon office. As Plato put it to the judge in the case, Larry was guilty by a few miles (he had permission to travel with classified material throughout the tri-state area).
So far as I know, Larry was not charged for Plato’s work,
Most regular news watchers and readers know Mr. Cacheris from his defense of two women: Fawn Hall in the Iran-Contra affair, and Monica Lewinsky, in which he and his colleague Jake Stein, another distinguished defense attorney, divvied up the labor. Neither served a day in prison.
His epitaph sums up his efforts over the years:
In the Watergate break-in and coverup, Mr. Cacheris represented former attorney general John N. Mitchell; in Abscam, which involved federal agents masquerading as wealthy oil sheikhs offering bribes to members of Congress, he represented then-Rep. Michael O. “Ozzie” Myers (D-Pa.); in the international scandal involving the rogue bank B.C.C.I., he represented Sheik Kamal Adham, the former Saudi intelligence chief; and in Iran-contra, he was the lawyer for Fawn Hall, a secretary to Lt. Col. Oliver L. North at the National Security Council.
Mr. Cacheris also formed a high-profile subspecialty in espionage cases. His clients included Aldrich H. Ames of the CIA and Robert P. Hanssen of the FBI, both of whom spied for the Soviets and then the Russians, and Ana Belén Montes of the Defense Intelligence Agency, who spied for Cuba.
Plato was a great lawyer and a great friend. Often, the two roles merged.  Fawn Hall was in close touch with Plato and his family for the last months of his life, as was Larry Franklin, for whom Plato was working to obtain a presidential pardon. We all looked forward to attending his funeral, or at least a memorial service, but his widow, Ethel, has said that he didn’t want any such ceremony. He’ll be buried privately.
Plato was the son of immigrants, and suitably enough his father was in the restaurant business. The family moved to Washington, where Plato came up through the public schools, attended Georgetown University and entered the Marine Corps Officer Training School in time to serve in the Korean War.  After some work for the Marine legal team, he returned to Georgetown Law School under the G.I. Bill, and thence to the government, first as a Justice Department prosecutor (the FARA years) and then as assistant U.S. attorney in Virginia.  He went into private practice in 1965.
Plato was the logical defender for Edward Snowden, and was involved in some secret conversations between Snowden and the American Government, trying to arrange Snowden’s return to the United States in exchange for a promise to reveal what he had told the Russians. But Plato, for once, failed to negotiate the deal.
What a guy!  And a good tennis player, too:
The tightknit circle of established white-collar defense lawyers would often gather at the Cacheris household on Bishop Lane in Alexandria, many of them playing tennis on what was sometimes called the John Mitchell Tennis Court. Mr. Cacheris had jocularly asserted that it was paid for with the fees he got from representing Mitchell.

They Won’t Stand Up to Rep. Omar, But They’ll Call Trump an Anti-Semite

The pathetic dishonesty of Jewish Democrats.

5
Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.
After Rep. Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitic comments, her fellow House Democrats refused to put forward a resolution condemning her hateful views. Instead they voted on a generic resolution against hate.
Rep. Lee Zeldin, who is Jewish, led 22 other House Republicans in voting against the cover-up resolution.
“If a Republican Member was pushing the anti-Semitism that Rep. Omar keeps peddling, this resolution would name names, and be solely, emphatically focused on anti-Semitism and that member would be removed from their committee assignments. The double standard motivating this decision by the Speaker and the moral equivalency filling this watered-down text is spineless and disgusting," Rep. Zeldin declared.
Now there’s a new disgusting low after the Jewish Democratic Council of America releasedwhat it calls an “interactive timeline of anti-Semitism since the 2016 election” which it tries to attribute to Trump.
Included on that timeline is an item which reads, "23 Republicans voted against a resolution denouncing anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry."
The illustration, misleadingly, features Neo-Nazis marching in Charlottesville, rather than Rep. Omar.
The JDCA knows better. After initially criticizing Rep. Omar, it made the decision to back away and support a meaningless resolution that failed to address anti-Semitism by a member of the House.
Now the JDCA has hit a new low by trying to smear a Jewish Republican’s decision to oppose the House Dem cover-up as support for anti-Semitism and Neo-Nazis. It’s a low point in a despicable JDCA smear.
The JDCA’s “interactive timeline” claims that "card-carrying Nazis, Holocaust deniers, a proud white supremacists (sic) ran for Congress as Republicans, many of whom were ardent supporters of Donald Trump." The JDCA doesn’t go to the trouble of actually listing any such people or incidents.
The timeline features a photo of Arthur Jones, a Neo-Nazi who ran for Congress in Illinois. And lost.
Jones also called President Trump a “Jew-loving fool” who “surrounded himself with hordes of Jews.”
That’s the JDCA’s idea of “ardent” support.
Unlike Omar, Jones was condemned across the Republican spectrum. Republicans had previously attempted to keep him off the ballot. There was no question of any Republican support for Jones.
The JDCA must know this which is why it used Jones’ picture without actually using his name.
Then the JDCA tries to claim that Senator Josh Hawley’s reference to “cosmopolitan elites” is an anti-Semitic “dog whistle”. That’s true. The term “rootless cosmopolitan” was a popular dog whistle in the Soviet Union. The JDCA is presumably not accusing Senator Hawley of being a Stalinist. The term “cosmopolitan elites” can be found everywhere from stories in Agence France-PresseThe Economist and The Spectator to numerous academic publications and textbooks in Europe and America.
This would be embarrassing if the JDCA had any shame.
Next the JDCA turns to Miami. "On July 28, 2019, a man who shot repeatedly in the leg outside while waiting for the Mincha prayer service inside a synagogue in Miami in a targeted attack toward Jews."
The shooter, Carlints St Louis, is African-American. It’s unlikely that he’s a Trump supporter and it’s possible that this was a gangland shooting attempt gone wrong rather than an anti-Semitic attack.
Although it’s hard to know.
What is easy to know is that the JDCA used two pictures of the attack. Not one of them shows the alleged shooter. That’s part of a pattern in which the JDCA fails to provide basic information in its timeline to protect the false narrative that it’s trying to construct at the expense of the truth.
“The following interactive timeline tracks the sharp rise of anti-Semitism and white nationalism in the United States under President Trump, starting with the election of 2016 through the present day,” the timeline introduction claims. “JDCA monitors these incidents in order to raise awareness of this growing and persistent threat facing the American Jewish community today.”
The JDCA isn’t actually monitoring these incidents. It’s mischaracterizing them.
Featuring a photo of Carlints St Louis would have revealed that anti-Semitism in America occurs across racial and political lines. But the JDCA only wants to talk about white supremacy because discussing any other form of anti-Semitism has become unacceptable within the ranks of the Democrat Party.
That’s why the “interactive timeline” never gets around to mentioning Rep. Omar or Rep. Tlaib. It does however reveal that "Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) read Mein Kampf on the House floor." It neglects to mention that Brooks was denouncing Hitler's technique of the 'Big Lie'. Lying about a lie is quite a lie.
But the JDCA specializes in removing the context. Especially where the context makes it look bad.
"GOP Senator Rick Scott called the Democratic Party anti-Semitic," the JDCA notes.
This is somehow intended to be damning for the GOP, not the Dems. But the JDCA once again neglects the context, which was Senator Scott condemning Rep. Omar and her political allies.
The JDCA’s timeline repeatedly makes the false claim that criticizing George Soros is anti-Semitic. Soros is an anti-Semitic figure who said, on video, that he feels no guilt for his actions during the Holocaust. And has repeatedly funded anti-Semitic groups and trafficked in anti-Semitic stereotypes. He’s justified anti-Semitism and has been condemned by everyone from Elie Wiesel to the ADL.
Things get more awkward from there as the JDCA claims that Rep. Tom Emmer's criticism of George Soros, Michael Bloomberg and Tom Steyer is anti-Semitic because "all three either identify as Jewish or have a Jewish parent." Or a Jewish grandparent. Or they met a Jewish person at a party once.
Tom Steyer is Episcopalian.
The JDCA, once again, clearly knows this because of its awkward claim that it’s anti-Semitism if one of them happens to claim some Jewish ancestry. A category that includes Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.
While the JDCA was figuring out how to formulate that awkward accusation, it had nothing to say about Cortez’s meeting with anti-Semitic British Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, anti-Semitism from Rep. Omar, an openly anti-Semitic candidate running in California with the endorsement of local DSA and Bernie Sanders groups or any anti-Semitism at all coming from its own side of the political spectrum.
Instead of addressing anti-Semitism on its own side of the line, the JDCA is deflecting attention from it.
Its smears of Rep. Zeldin are distasteful and dishonest. Its smears of Trump, Hawley, Emmer and others are equally so. A Jewish auxiliary organization ought to represent Jewish interests and values. Instead the JDCA blatantly lies, misleads and gaslights Jews about anti-Semitism in America today.
“We created this timeline, which tracks the sharp rise of anti-Semitism under President Trump, to help Americans understand the full enormity of the hatred targeting Jews during the Trump administration,” the JDCA claims.
What does an African-American shooter in Florida have to do with the Trump administration? For that matter, what does the rise in violent attacks on Jews in Brooklyn by African-American perpetrators, which is driving the hate crimes stats that the JDCA quotes, have to do with Donald J. Trump?
The JDCA urges Jews to fight anti-Semitism by supporting a variety of action items from illegal migration to gun control to Muslim immigration to supporting ObamaCare to fighting global warming to impeaching Trump. These are Democrat priorities that have nothing to do with fighting anti-Semitism.
After assembling its list of lies and smears, the JDCA can’t come up with one single action item for fighting anti-Semitism. Not one. Never mind anything about Israel or anything involving Jews.
There’s an old Soviet anecdote. An American and a Russian are arguing about political freedoms.
The American tells the Russian that he can march up to the White House and shout that the President of the United States is an idiot. The Russian tells the American that he can go to the Kremlin and also shout that the President of the United States is an idiot. That’s the JDCA’s battle against anti-Semitism.
The JDCA can’t stand up for Jews. It won’t fight Rep. Omar’s anti-Semitism. But it will bash Republicans.
That’s not fighting anti-Semitism. That’s being a useful idiot for anti-Semites.

ICE Targets Illegals in Sanctuary City Raids

Making headway in the fight against bastions of lawlessness.

4
In a weeklong sweep U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took close to 1,300 illegal aliens into custody, many of whom were arrested in so-called sanctuary cities that harbor illegals and shield them from federal immigration enforcement efforts.
Sanctuary jurisdictions defy U.S. law by, among other things, refusing to honor detainer requests in which ICE asks local jailers to notify the agency before an inmate wanted on immigration charges is released. A detainer request also asks the jailer to hold the individual for up to 48 hours after when the individual would otherwise be released so ICE can take him or her into custody for processing and possible deportation.
“To be clear, the concept of sanctuary cities is perhaps the most ridiculous and outrageous idea I’ve ever encountered in my almost 40 years of law enforcement,” Sheriff Wayne Ivey of Brevard County, Florida, told reporters at the White House Sept. 26.
“To think that there are those in power who took the same oath of office that we did to uphold the Constitution, who would be willing to oppose the rule of law, is completely insane and unacceptable.”
The sanctuary movement gave illegal aliens permission to rob, rape, and murder Americans by, among other things, stigmatizing immigration enforcement. Some left-wingers call sanctuary jurisdictions “civil liberties safe zones” to blur the distinction between citizens and non-citizens by implying illegal aliens somehow possess a civil right to be present in the U.S.
Leftists also like to refer to all migrants, including illegal aliens, simply as “immigrants” in order to further muddy the waters. Those who oppose the Left’s open-border agenda can thus be smeared as anti-immigrant, even though conservatives are generally opposed to illegal immigration, not immigration in general. Los Angeles became the first U.S. sanctuary city in 1979, when its police department issued Special Order 40, a document that forbids police officers from inquiring about the immigration status of individuals not suspected of crimes.
Last week ICE “conducted a targeted, intelligence-based, at-large criminal alien operation,” acting ICE Director Matt Albence said at the White House presser.
“Many of the subjects we were pursuing had been released from uncooperative sanctuary jurisdictions,” Albence said. “Of the nearly 1,300 arrests made this week, our officers arrested nearly 200 who could’ve been arrested at the jail if the detainer had been honored.”
Of the criminal aliens arrested, three had convictions for manslaughter or murder, he said, and 100 had convictions for sexual assault or crimes, “with the victims of nearly half of them being children.” Seventy had convictions for crimes involving drugs and more than 320 had convictions for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Resistance by sanctuary jurisdictions hurts ICE enforcement efforts, he said.
Seventy percent “of the arrests ICE makes are at local jails and state prisons across the country. But we used to make more. And we used to get more criminals off the street before sanctuary laws and policies prevented us from doing so, leaving us with no choice but to expend significant digital resources to locate and arrest criminal aliens and other immigration violators out in the community, including at their homes and places of employment — a more dangerous undertaking for our officers and a more disruptive action within our communities. And simply put, a less effective method.”
Albence said 90 percent of those ICE arrests in the interior of the country are of “convicted criminals, individuals who have been charged with a criminal violation … immigration fugitives … or are illegal reentrants — meaning they’ve been through the immigration court process previously, been deported, and reentered illegally.”
There were 7,000 convictions for illegal entry, a federal felony, last year, he said.
Last year ICE made more than 105,000 criminal arrests and removed more than 145,000 criminal aliens, including the arrests of almost 10,000 gang members and the removal of another 6,000, he said.
Albence explained that ICE has been arresting wanted persons in courthouses because sanctuary jurisdictions have been resisting ICE.
Doing so “is largely necessitated by the fact that law enforcement agencies will not honor our detainers,” he said. “Four or five years ago, before this whole sanctuary city issue exploded, we didn’t really have to go into court rooms because we’d be able to get the individual while they’re sitting in the custody of another law enforcement agency.”
Although police have been arresting suspects in courthouses ever since courthouses were invented –it is a great deal safer for police than raiding a factory or a home— labor lawyer Indira Talwani, now a federal in Massachusetts, granted a preliminary injunction June 20 barring ICE agents “from civilly arresting parties, witnesses, and others attending Massachusetts courthouses on official business while they are going to, attending, or leaving the courthouse.” The order specifies that it “does not limit ICE’s criminal arrests of such individuals or its civil arrests of individuals who are brought to Massachusetts courthouses while in state or federal custody.”
To no one’s surprise, Talwani was nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate May 8, 2014.
Albence wondered aloud why immigration lawbreakers should have special immunity from arrest.
“You go to any courthouse in this land and these sheriffs will tell you they will have law enforcement officers from every agency nearby arresting somebody in their courtroom every day.”
“Criminals are mobile; most of them are recidivist,” he said.
“So I guarantee you, I can go into Fairfax County [Virginia] today and there will probably be sheriffs from Loudoun County, sheriffs from Prince William County, maybe a couple of marshals guys that are there waiting for somebody. It’s a common occurrence in law enforcement. The only reason it’s being made controversial is because politicians are looking to exploit it.”
Among the worst exploiters are open-borders lawmakers in Congress, especially left-wing Democrats. Working with squishy Republicans, they have over and over again refused to cut off federal funding for sanctuary cities.
It’s time for them to get with the program.

Impeachment: John Brennan and Obama's Intel Ops

Holdovers strike again.

9
It turns out, as Rush Limbaugh noted in a recent broadcast, that the “whistleblower” is a CIA person detailed to the White House. Likely a holdover from Obama, he is John Brennan’s man.
When Obama left office, he left in place a mechanism designed to lead to Trump’s impeachment: The revelations of the intel community about Russian collusion with the incoming president.
Now that those are debunked by the very prosecutor hired to prove them, this same crowd, these same folks, have shifted their emphasis to the Ukraine scandal.
The allegation is that Trump used his official power to induce Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden’s son. But the fact — caught on tape — is that Biden used his power as VP to get Ukraine to fire the prosecutor who was after his son!
Trump does not deserve impeachment for bringing Biden to justice. Biden deserves our condemnation for trying to impede it.
The impeachment drama, begun suddenly by the whistleblower complaint, probably will play out this way:
House Democrats, driven by their blood thirsty base, will vote to impeach. All but their dedicated partisans will see them as over-reaching and ignoring the agenda they were elected to legislate. Party discipline will assure a unanimous Democratic vote to impeach but few if any Republicans will join them. Impeachment will be seen as a partisan ploy rather than the outcome of a real investigation.
Senate Republicans will stand firm and united behind Trump and against impeachment. With the GOP base solid and enraged by impeachment, any who waiver will be harshly disciplined by the threat of primary fights. Only Mitt Romney might break ranks. The House Democratic impeachment trial managers will fall far short of the two-thirds needed to oust Trump. The drama will consume the remainder of 2019 and last well into the primary season of 2020.
Voters will see the Democrats as taking the election out of their hands and trying to remove Trump even as his first term nears its end. Impeachment will hurt the Democrats in 2020 just as it injured the Republicans when they tried to throw out Clinton in 1998.
In the meantime, all the focus on Biden’s son’s role in Ukraine and China will further weaken and eventually destroy Joe Biden’s presidential chances. With Biden out of the way, the Party’s left wing will be triumphant and will nominate Elizabeth Warren.
With the Democrats hurt by impeachment, the economy purring along, and the radical Warren leading them, Trump will likely win re-election, perhaps massively.
Democrats are being forced into a strategic dead end by the exuberant media and their frothing base. But it will not end well for them.

Dems Mount Full Court Press

The bid to impeach Trump by any means necessary.

If an impeachment resolution came over from the House, Mitch McConnell said on Monday, the Senate would have to take it up. In the meantime, those confused by the impeachment process might keep the tangled back story in mind.
Back in 2017, Rep. Adam Schiff was crowing that there was evidence in plain sight that Donald Trump colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election. The intel committee boss never produced the evidence and neither did Robert Mueller with his police-state tactics. Schiff has now turned to improvised dialogue about President Trump pressuring Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden in exchange for military aid. That is a tough act to follow but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is up to the task.
On Sunday the San Francisco Democrat made the rounds of the talk shows explaining, “This is a very sad time for our country. There is no joy in this. We must be somber, we must be prayerful and we must pursue the facts,” and so on. This from an alleged moderate who formerly opposed calls for impeachment from the party’s far left. Now Pelosi has impeachment on the fast track.
Impeachment normally starts with a resolution and a vote on the house floor. Pelosi bypassed that vote and announced that an impeachment inquiry was already under way. That spared the representatives from going on record and gave the go-ahead for committees to continue their investigations.
The vaunted “intelligence community” changed a key whistleblower form to drop the requirement for “first-hand” information. So the complaint could proceed even though the whistleblower had no knowledge of President Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
President Trump is like Paul Newman in Absence of Malice, being set up by someone with no face and no name. The whistleblower is reportedly a CIA employee but the president wants to know who this person is and face his accuser. The accuser is being represented by Andrew Bakaj, a former CIA officer who says the whistleblower “is entitled to anonymity.”
Democrats want more of Trump’s phone calls with Vladimir Putin and other world leaders. Adam Schiff wants to see if “the president was also undermining our security in a way that he thought would personally benefit his campaign.” For his part, Trump wants Schiff questioned “at the highest level for Fraud & Treason,” and he wants to know who was spying on him.
As this unfolds other developments should be kept in mind. As Victor Davis Hanson explains,
“we still have a number of government audits coming from Michael Horowitz, John Durham, and John Huber—and the targets are not Trump.” Hanson expects the impeachment hearings to “descend into a Kavanaugh-esque farce,” as the Democrat candidates’ “screaming and hysterics return.” That should serve as a reminder that this is all about the 2016 election.
Progressives believe they have somehow escaped the repressive conditioning of the masses and are wise enough to usher in the utopian state. This has all been predetermined by history, so if the progressive candidate loses, it can only be due to trickery or theft.
Progressive candidates cannot accept that outsider Donald Trump defeated former First Lady Hillary Clinton. Democrats are worried that if they don’t impeach Trump he will win again in 2020. Others don’t care about the election and just want him impeached by any means necessary.
The hearsay whistleblower is the latest offensive and the CIA connection is troubling. Some speculate that the person is a protégé of John Brennan, on record that the whistleblower “deserves our praise and gratitude.” This from a man who voted for the Stalinist Gus Hall for president and never should have been given any job in U.S. government, let alone head of the CIA.
Puzzled observers would be wise not to underestimate the malice and fatuity of leftist Democrats, who have consistently underestimated President Trump. Charles Hurt of the Washington Times finds it “just mind-boggling to me that they would want to turn the entire political discussion today suddenly to talking about Ukraine, Hunter Biden, Joe Biden in Ukraine, all of this is stuff that Donald Trump is delighted to talk about.” And the president can do more than just talk.
Bill Clinton’s impeachment tangle prompted a flurry of pardons to people he didn’t even know. President Trump, the most powerful man in the world, could extend deployment of his power to declassify. That could prove interesting, even for someone like POTUS 44, who in 2012 told
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he would have “more flexibility” to deal with contentious issues like missile defense after the U.S. presidential election. And of course he and Hillary Clinton gave the Russians everything they wanted.
They also colluded with Russia to take down candidate and President Trump. Vice President Joe Biden pressured Ukraine to fire a prosecutor investigating a firm whose board included Biden’s son. Trump thinks Ukraine should investigate, and that was what the call was about. Yet Trump, not Biden, faces the barrage.
As Victory Davis Hanson has it, “if Trump’s health holds out, if we don’t have a recession, if there is not an optional war, and Trump endures the next few weeks of 360-degree, 24/7 targeting, 2020 will be far more favorable than ever imaginable for him.” As the president says, we’ll have to see what happens.
