Warren puts Justice Roberts in awkward spot with Supreme Court legitimacy question

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) introduced a seemingly awkward dynamic into the impeachment proceedings when she asked if Republicans’ likely refusal to allow new witnesses in President Trump’s Senate trial would diminish trust in the chief justice or the Supreme Court.
"The question from Sen. Warren is for the House managers," Supreme Court Justice John Roberts, who is presiding over the trial, began.
"At a time when large majorities of Americans have lost faith in government, does the fact that the chief justice is presiding over an impeachment trial in which Republican senators have thus far refused to allow witnesses or evidence contribute to the loss of legitimacy of the chief justice, the Supreme Court, and the Constitution?" he read.
The question appeared to create discomfort for Roberts, whose role as the trial’s presiding officer requires him to read senators’ queries aloud — even those raising questions about potential damage to his own legitimacy, or that of the judicial institution he has assiduously sought to shield from the political fray.
It was unclear if the question was a dig at Republican obstruction, Roberts’s unwillingness so far to take a position in the witness fight or both.
While some Democrats have floated a theory that Roberts can supersede the Senate and call witnesses at his discretion, this seems to be the minority interpretation of their respective powers. Most scholars agree that the Constitution gives the Senate ultimate say over all critical matters at trial and the ability to overrule the presiding officer with a simple majority vote.
Lead House manager Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is among the Democrats who have proposed that senators cede power to Roberts on the witness issue. In addressing Warren’s question, however, the congressman opted for diplomacy, declining to put added pressure on the presiding officer.
“I would not say that it contributes to a loss of confidence in the chief justice,” Schiff said. “I think the chief justice has presided admirably."

MSNBC Contributor Claims Trump Will ‘Shut Down Voting’ In California Ahead Of 2020 Election

This may be one of the dumbest things ever said on the network…

(TNS) A president who can barely issue an executive order without it being challenged, often successfully at first, in federal court is somehow going to must the authority to shut down voting in the largest state in the union for the 2020 election.
That’s a prediction Morgan State University professor and MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson made during programming on the network Thursday.

“Imagine Donald Trump deciding sometime in June, ‘well I heard this conspiracy theory that a whole lot of illegal immigrants voted in California so I’ve decided that during the presidential election California has to undergo extreme vetting because we can’t trust their votes. We’re going to shut down voting in a state,’” Johnson said, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
“This is literally the kind of thing he will do now. We’re not talking hypotheticals anymore.”
The Free Beacon noted further:
Johnson, a professor at Morgan State University, referenced the possibility that noncitizens voted in the 2016 and 2018 elections in California. California’s Department of Motor Vehicles reported that some noncitizens in the state might have incorrectly been registered to vote. Separately, the secretary of state’s office was unable to confirm whether noncitizens participated in the 2018 election. 
Without explanation, Johnson then proffered that Americans should “be terrified” of the president’s supposed power to overthrow our system of government, though he’s been the target of just such an attempt via “Spygate.”
“This is step one to actual autocracy, not the theoretical one,” Johnson said.
“Not the one we talk about in class, but an actual president who will say, ‘this state’s votes don’t count, these people don’t have a right to vote, these people can’t come into the country.’ That is what they are allowing to happen here. And I don’t understand how anyone cannot be terrified.”
No one on the MSNBC panel appeared to challenge Johnson’s assertion. Interestingly, at the beginning of the clip below, Johnson claims that Trump impeachment attorney Alan Dershowitz and “Fox News” are guilty of “spouting nonsense.”

Conservative talk giant Rush Limbaugh observed:
We’re dealing in utter insanity. You know what this is rooted in? This is based on the fact that these people take an out-of-context quote from Trump in a conversation on ABC News about whether or not he can fire Bob Mueller, and during that interview, Trump says, “It’s right there in Article II. I can do anything I want. I can fire Mueller. I can not fire Mueller.” They’ve taken it out of context, and they’re now running around saying, “Trump says he can do anything!
“‘He can do anything he wants! He is a monarch, he’s a king, he can do anything!” He never said it. He doesn’t believe it. These people know it’s not true, but they have been so immersed in the lie of this for so long, they now believe it — and that’s the root of this. “This is literally the kind of thing he will do now. We’re not talking hypotheticals anymore.” He will simply say Californians’ presidential votes don’t count. What, and people are just gonna stand aside and let that happen? Meanwhile, who is it that’s actually trying to overturn an election?
Meanwhile, who is it that actually went out there and tried to change the Electoral College? Who is it that went out there and pressured electors in the Electoral College not to vote the way they’re required to by law, when the Electoral College convened in December of 2016? This guy, Jason Johnson, is a professor at Morgan State University. He said, “Americans should be terrified of Trump’s ability to overthrow America’s democratic system.”
Uhhh… This is insane. …
I can easily throw it back at him. Overthrow America’s democratic system? Who was it that now admits they got FISA warrants that were illegal to spy on a presidential campaign?
Who was it that used a phony dossier put together by Russian spies, paid for by Hillary Clinton, that was the sole reason there was ever any allegation or investigation of Donald Trump? Threat to the democratic system?
And you and I sit here and wonder how in hell is it that people on our side do not see the crisis that we are in the midst of and face. These are people literally attempting to commandeer the next election! They have made no bones about it.

If you read our blog you know that we believe that ‘projection’ is the key to understanding the Democrats and their bosses in the DS.
This is the very reason why I think we are at a turning point in our nation’s history … and not a good one. Today Nancy Pelosi showed just how out of control her God complex has become. But before we get into that, let me set the table.

Recently the rhetoric used by the left has reached a fever pitch. Never mind the fact that, IMHO, we have a rogue Congress trying to remove a President, the head of a Constitutionally coequal branch of government (the executive branch) for failing to bow to them and their endless use of ‘Presidential harassment’ and never ending string of subpoenas.
Think for a moment about the rhetoric the Dems have been using during their desperate coup to remove Trump at any cost. You have the Bernie campaign’s staffers talking about Gulags and reeducation camps, you have Liz Warren, who is literally famous for lying about, well everything from her DNA to her pregnancy, taking about criminalizing disinformation online. However you also have Nancy Pelosi throwing around the words ‘enemies, foreign and domestic.’
When the cracked out Speaker of The House (which is an ironic title considering the nice older lady can not even string a sentence together to save her life) wrote that line, essentially calling Trump a ‘domestic enemy’ I noted at the time that I thought this was an important event. The words struck me as important because when viewed through the lens of projection, it signals that she knows that she, and her coconspirators, have committed serious crimes, up to and possibly including, treason.
The Hill reported at the time:
‘In a “Dear Colleague” letter circulated to members of the caucus on the eve of the vote, Pelosi asked fellow House Democrats to “join me on the Floor” on Wednesday morning as the chamber votes on the articles against Trump.
“No Member came to Congress to impeach a President. But every one of us, as our first act as a Member of Congress, stood on the House Floor, raised our hand and took a sacred oath: ‘I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.‘ That oath makes us Custodians of the Constitution. If we do not act, we will be derelict in our duty,” she wrote.’
Now, The Gateway Pundit it reporting: ‘House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went on an insane rant Thursday as impeachment imploded in the senate.
President Trump’s defense team absolutely destroyed Schiff and the Dems, causing Pelosi to have a meltdown during a press conference.
A reporter asked Pelosi if Trump will be “chastened” knowing “congress is watching him” or “emboldened” if the senate acquits him.
“Well he will not be acquitted. You cannot be acquitted if you don’t have a trial and when you don’t have a trial if you don’t have witnesses and documentation,” Pelosi said.’

WATCH:
This clearly has ZERO to do with the rule of law, and everything to do with removing Trump before he and AG Barr can shine a light on all the crimes that have been committed against the Republic in the last few years by not only Democrats, but likely many, many Republicans too.
I hope they do not stop with the Obama Administration either, let’s take a look at what the Bush admin did as well. Let’s look at what the Senate has been up to, and of course, the House of representatives.
Let no one be above reproach, the President and his staff included. Either we root out corruption wherever it rests or we will hand our children a totalitarian kleptocracy, from which there will be no coming back. What is it going to be America?
