Who Was the First Person Jesus Revealed His True Identity To? The woman at the well's testimony convinced an entire town to believe. By Lauren McKeithen

In John 3, Jesus attempts to tell Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council, that He was the Messiah. However, Nicodemus didn't understand the importance of what Jesus was saying. In John 3:10, Jesus questions how he can be Israel's teacher and not understand these things. Shortly after, Jesus meets the woman at the well.

She's never named, but her meeting with Jesus is the longest between the Messiah and any other person in the Gospel of John. Representing the lowest of the low, a woman in a society where women are both disregarded and demeaned, a race traditionally despised by Jews and living in shame as an outcast, not only does she have a holy encounter with Jesus, but she also receives eternal salvation. Her testimony convinces an entire town to believe. Who was the woman at the well, what's her significance, and why is her story important to Christianity and believers?

The woman at the well.

The story of the woman at the well is one of the most well-known biblical encounters. In John 4:1-42, it shows how Jesus sat down at a well in the town of Sychar while traveling through Samaria on the way to Galilee. Around noon, while His disciples were buying food in town, Jesus encountered a Samaritan woman coming to get water from the well. He asked the woman for a drink, and their conversation took off from there, ending in her salvation and with Him telling her that He was the Messiah. We know a few essential facts about this woman. Her name isn't revealed, but we know she was a Samaritan woman.

The Bible explains that Samaritans were a race with whom Jews didn't associate. We also know that she had had five husbands, and the man she was currently with wasn't her husband. From understanding historical and historical traditions from that time, we know that women usually drew water in groups in the morning, and it was usually a social occasion. The fact that this woman was drawing water at midday alone indicates she was a social outcast. However, we know that she was deeply curious. She felt comfortable enough not only to talk with Jesus but to ask Him pointed questions. His answers to her questions and their subsequent dialogue reveal a great deal more, adding more significance to the story.

What did she ask Jesus?

Without understanding tone of voice, inflection, facial expressions and other characterizations, her questions appear pointed and stark. When Jesus requested a drink, she asked Him a series of questions, like how can He ask her for a drink, where can you get this living water, and was he greater than Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself? Jesus' responses were just as pointed and shocking. In short, He not only told her who He was, the Messiah and the Son of God, but that He'd come to offer living water. What's notable is the way all of this is shared and the way she appeared to see through His parables and reveal the truth behind His words when others couldn't.

What happened during Jesus' discussion with the woman at the well?

After Jesus asked for some water, the woman at the well asked how He could ask this of her, as Jesus was a Jew and she was a Samaritan. He said if you knew who it was that asked you for a drink, you would've asked him, and he would've given you living water. She pointed out that Jesus didn't have a cup, then asked about the living water and if he was more significant than Jacob. The text doesn't share whether her tone was heartfelt, rhetorical or sarcastic, but many scholars suspect that she was being facetious.

After all, Jacob was Abraham's grandson, the son of Isaac, and the ancestor of the people of Israel, who likely founded the town in addition to supplying the well where they spoke. Jacob's fame was great, but Jesus' earnest answer, elaborating on this living water He could give, prompted her to ask Him for it, which was when Jesus shifted to the next phase of their discussion. This next phase revealed that not only did Jesus have what she needed, but He knew things about her that were telling and surprising, that she'd been married five times and wasn't married to her current man.

Inferring that Jesus was a prophet, she then started to talk about religious matters, explicitly noting that Jews believe the place they must worship is in Jerusalem. Then Jesus shared something he hadn't made public in many circles: He's the Messiah. Then, His friends returned, and the woman ran off, leaving her water jar and telling everyone to come and see.

What happened after their conversation?

After Jesus and the woman talked at the well, she seemed to have been shocked at how Jesus knew so many things about her, telling the other Samaritans that He told her everything she ever did. Enthralled, they approached Jesus, and He stayed in their town for two additional days to talk to them. Because of what Jesus shared with them, many of them became believers, and her testimony led to their salvation.

What can we learn from this story?

This story of Jesus and the woman at the well is significant for many reasons. First, it shows Jesus' love for the world. The fact that this woman was of such low standing yet talked so directly, almost as an equal conversational partner with Jesus, shows His heart for all people, not just some. As we see in other stories, like when Jesus welcomed children in Luke 18:15-17 or healed the demon-possessed daughter of a Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21-28, Jesus accepts all and all are welcome in God's kingdom. This story also reminds us that only Jesus can give salvation. He offers living water or eternal life. This water isn't like regular water but instead comes from God and lasts forever.

It also shows the importance of telling our testimony. When the woman at the well believed, she immediately ran to tell the others in town. Her words made a difference. As the Bible tells us, many of the Samaritans believed in Jesus because of the woman's testimony. It also underscored how Jesus is the Messiah. Once He says He's the Messiah, the townspeople and the woman believe Him. At the end of the story, the Samaritans told the woman that they knew this man was the Savior of the world.

It's interesting how Jesus attempted to tell Nicodemus that He was the Messiah, but he didn't understand. However, when he told the woman at the well, she understood immediately and ran to share the news. The story of the woman at the well is an example of truth, love, redemption, and acceptance.

Where Did the 12 Disciples Go After Jesus' Ascension?

Gate Keepers Of The Culture John DeGroff January 31, 2025 448 3 minutes read

Gate Keepers Of The Culture

The New Testament part of the Christian Bible is not necessarily considered prophetic in nature, with the exception of Revelation. Granted, it’s not wrong to regard all of Scripture to be prophetic. Including the book of Lamentations, there are 17 specifically prophetic books in the O.T. In the New Testament, Christ’s own words were prophetic at times, especially concerning what would happen to Him, Jerusalem, and His disciples. (see Mt.24:1,2; Luke 19:41-44 and 21:24; John 15:20)

The bulk of Paul’s writings were focused on the doctrinal foundation for the emerging Chruch. This was especially the case with the Epistles. But he did have moments where he shined a light on what the body of believers would eventually face. Ephesians 6:12 is the best example.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Before getting into the details of this verse, here’s something to consider. 1960s radicals that went through college either stayed in academia, went into media, or managed to get elected or otherwise became involved in government at the bureaucratic level. It’s not hard to identify who these folks are simply by paying attention to their actions. However, where did the rest of that generation of “students” end up?

The phrase “all politics is local” is attributed to former Speaker of the House Thomas “Tip” O’Neill. Therefore, with this in mind, let’s look at the four main parts of Ephesians 6:12.

  • “principalities”: refers to the state, an office of the state, or authority of the “prince” in power in ancient times; modern usage is any governmental territory; definitely starts at the local level
  • “powers“: refers to the ability to act or produce an effect by use of authority and/or control; consider all forms of power you deal with and encounter — your superiors at work, an HOA, anyone who controls your finances, school boards, town councils, utility boards, etc. Basically, this is anyone at a local community level who can control you. (Remember COVID?)
  • “rulers of the darkness of this world”: darkness often refers to the absence of light; also that which is done in secrecy and/or ignorance; Christ calls Himself “the Light of the world” in John 8:12 and again in verse 9:5. So, who counters Christ and controls the darkness in this world on the level we’re all familiar with? If you’re saying, “…well Satan, of course…” that’s correct, but by what means does he do this? Right now, in this world, that would include ALL media; everything available to us including social media and all digital content. Those of us who work with any form of media communication in order to get the Christian message out knows this empirically, firsthand. And yes, it does start at the local level when you see what’s going on in schools, public libraries and community holiday displays. Small-town Demshevik pettiness has fought against the truth harder recently than most of us have ever experienced before.
  • “spiritual wickedness in high places” : wickedness refers to that which is often more morally depraved and vile rather than simply illegal; this behavior is often excused or diminished as inconsequential by the courts; left unchecked it causes harm and lasting distress. While it’s more prevalent on the national and even state levels of political corruption, we’re seeing a lot of spiritual wickedness on the local level with hometown politicians who openly flaunt the law, especially now that the border is being dealt with.

What we’re seeing by taking a closer look at Ephesians 6:12 is exactly what’s going on in our country. Remember those 60’s type Demshevik radicals mentioned earlier? They make up the local deep state-town councils, school boards, public health officials, HOA’s, even some local businesses. Unfortunately, some charitable organizations and even churches are part of it.

I’m going to continually hammer the idea that winning the election was winning a battle, not the war. President Trump has the House, the Senate, the majority of SCOTUS, and several state governorships to back him up. On our local level, it’s going to be up to us to do the leg work to keep from getting complacent and keep the fight active.

In closing…
Matt Vespa of Townhall.com said: “MAGA is at the peak of its cultural and political power.” (1/28/25) Let’s hope this is true and stays that way for at least the next four years.

In 1962 after Richard Nixon lost the California gubernatorial race, he told the press, “You won’t have Nixon to kick around any more.” Now with President Trump back and his agenda getting implemented, I think we can paraphrase that line and say to the world, and especially the Demsheviks, “You won’t have the U.S.A to kick around any more.”

Red China Wes Walker February 3, 20250 28 2 minutes read

Red China

China. The world’s most populous nation and one of the few remaining communist regimes. And within twenty years of being a communist dictatorship under Mao Zedong, at least sixty to seventy million people died, with most of the deaths taking place during the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution. And it’s a good bet the death toll in China has continued since then.

With the end of the Cold War in 1991, some thought China would soon abandon communism. But it was not to be.

Some thought China could not pose a threat to America. But that is not the case. Why? Because during the 1990s, the Clinton Administration, due to its globalist view of international relations, decided to declassify military data and loosen security measures at American weapons laboratories. In addition, the Clinton Administration sold missile technology and nuclear secrets to the Chinese. It should also be noted that some of China’s agents had contributed to Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, and that some of Clinton’s top campaign donors in 1996 were U.S. defense contractors selling missile technology to the Chinese. Meanwhile, the Clinton Administration awarded a contract to Hutchinson Whampoa Limited (a Hong Kong-based shipping firm with ties to the Chinese Government). Such a contract enabled this firm to control the entry ports of the Panama Canal. As a result of these policies, China not only controls the Panama

Control but is also capable of launching nuclear missiles at America.

As if giving China missile technology and nuclear secrets weren’t bad enough, Dr. Anthony Fauci decided to provide funding to China’s Wuhan Institute, which in turn, developed the Covid-19 Virus (in collaboration with the People’s Liberation Army). As a result, China has practically engaged in biological warfare.

But China’s production of biological weapons did not matter to Old Joe Biden, who once said that “the Chinese aren’t bad folks”. That’s because he and his son Hunter have been involved in business deals with the Chinese, e.g. Rosemont Seneca Partners and the Bank of China; the sale of natural gas to China in 2017.

During the Biden Administration, the following actions/events took place:

  • Old Joe Biden rescinded the ban on Chinese involvement in America’s power grid by authorizing the sale of the purchase of transformers and other electric grid equipment made in China.
  • Lifted the travel restrictions that the Trump Administration imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Reversed a Trump Administration policy requiring all schools to disclose information with the Confucius Institute, thus allowing Chinese propaganda to be allowed into American schools.
  • Putting an end to monitoring Chinese influence in American schools.
  • Allowing an Open Borders Policy, which allowed many Chinese citizens to enter the United States illegally.
  • Ended an investigation into the origins of the Covid-19 Pandemic, i.e. it originating in the Wuhan Institute.
  • Chinese warplanes flying into Taiwan’s airspace on more than one occasion.
  • The sale of one million barrels of oil from the strategic reserve to China.
  • Chinese donations to the Penn Biden Center at the University of Pennsylvania in return for the Biden Administration promoting China’s energy policies.
  • A Chinese spy balloon was allowed to fly across the United States before being shot down on the Atlantic Coast.

Thus, China is perhaps the biggest threat to national security, and it must be dealt with.

Vote PROVES Dems Love Criminals More Than Children — Judge For Yourself! What other explanation is there? Wes Walker February 3, 2025

Vote PROVES Dems Love Criminals More Than Children — Judge For Yourself!

What other explanation is there?

Dems love to rally around stories of children when it suits a cause they care about (David Hogg even parlayed it into political celebrity status), but they change their tune when the narrative is against them.

Their own legislative record testifies against them.

In Washington State, quietly under the radar of most Americans, with the innocuous name “House Bill 1296“, a piece of legislation is making its way through the system.

Not surprisingly, it sets out to elevate the rights and privileges of the school to meddle in the personal lives of children in their care, while diminishing the current rights of their parents to be involved in potentially life-changing decisions, especially as relates to questions of gender dysphoria.

Conveniently, this is dressed up in the language of non-discrimination and concern for the child. But all of that gloss falls apart when you see the provisions that have been rejected by the Democrats in control.

If you look at the bill history, no amendments have been passed. That does not mean that none have been proposed.

Opposition to the bill, as recorded in the text of the House Bill report is as follows:

(Opposed) Parents are the first teachers and overseers of their children. Parental support is
essential to student success. This bill undermines trust that was rebuilt after the pandemic
through Initiative 2081. This bill should be rejected to preserve vital parent/student trust.
This bill overrides parents and is contrary to new federal regulations. Passing this bill may
jeopardize federal funding

When given a choice between protecting children and protecting their abusers…?

Let their actions speak for themselves:

And what they’ve concealed in the past stand as testimony against them.

But we’re supposed to get all weepy when Selena Gomez or AOC gets the sads because illegal aliens are deported?

No thanks.

Hey Terrorists: Uncle Sam Is Back In The Business Of Wiping You Out! The phrase 'New Sheriff In town' is entirely accurate Wes Walker February 3, 2025

Hey Terrorists: Uncle Sam Is Back In The Business Of Wiping You Out!

The phrase 'New Sheriff In town' is entirely accurate

Joe Biden was not the kind of president that kept terrorists up at night. Trump, on the other hand, is another story.

If Biden’s SECDEF could go AWOL for days with the chain of command completely in the dark about it, what does that tell you about how seriously his Pentagon took threats at home and abroad.

Maybe they were busy wrapping their heads around the root causes of white rage, or firing people for speaking out against the ills of communism. As if the Cold War never even happened.

But that all changed at noon on January 20th. We’re the big dog on the block and Trump is going to behave that way. And if that means reducing to ashes some people who have been looking to do Americans harm… he’ll do what needs doing.

Trump took to social media and went full Liam Neeson:

He even posted a video on Truth Social:

Not only is he setting out to Make America Great Again (AGAIN), but he’s back in the business of turning ISIS into Was-Was.
