Dear Lord Jesus, 
I know I am a sinner. I pray that you will forgive me for all of my sins, that you will come into my heart and be my Lord, the savior of my life. I confess that you died on the cross to save me from my sins and I am committed to turning away from those sins. I ask that you fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can be born again. I ask that you give me the strength and abundant faith to overcome any and all attacks by the enemy, including my desire to sin so that I may serve you completely. 

I pray that you will give me discernment so that I may know all things that are truth, and the knowledge acquired from reading your Word. Use me this day as I am a willing vessel Lord, in leading others to your kingdom. Wash me as white as snow. Put a hedge of protection around me as I go forth in doing your will. Thank you Jesus for saving me, as I know that only through my faith in you that all this is possible. Amen

These fake alerts are targeting users with false claims of unpaid tolls, leading victims to unsecured websites where sensitive information is stolen.

Stay alert and protect your personal and financial data from this latest cyberattack.

Reports have emerged of widespread phishing attacks targeting toll road users in the United States.

Scammers are sending text messages that appear to be from legitimate tolling agencies, urging victims to pay supposed outstanding tolls.

These messages often contain an amount owed and a link promising resolution through online payment.

If clicked, these links can guide victims to phishing websites designed to mimic official toll operators’ sites.

Upon inputting sensitive information, users expose themselves to potential identity theft.

These scams are not isolated incidents but are tied to organized efforts attributed to Chinese smishing groups as reported by reliable sources such as Fox News and NYC Post.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has stepped up to warn consumers of the dangers these scams present.

Adding to the concern is the use of sophisticated tools such as the “Lighthouse” kit, which aids scammers in convincingly mimicking toll operators across multiple states.

Phishing pages have grown more deceptive due to their mobile-optimized designs, making them harder to distinguish from legitimate websites.

These advancements in phishing techniques have allowed these fraudulent messages to bypass traditional SMS spam filters by integrating with Apple iMessage and Android’s Rich Communication Services (RCS).

Victims, including those without toll transponders or vehicles, have reported receiving such scam messages, hinting at the random and widespread nature of this attack across states like Texas, Florida, and Connecticut.

“Kurt “CyberGuy” Knutsson says this scam is becoming increasingly sophisticated and widespread, reports Fox8 TV.

Sadly, the emerging pattern shows this scam is an evolution from previous fraudulent campaigns that rotated from package delivery schemes to now targeting toll road users.

Security expert Ford Merrill has pointed out that this is indicative of Chinese smishing groups behind the attacks.

“What we’re seeing with these toll scams is just a continuation of the Chinese smishing groups rotating from package redelivery schemes to toll road scams,” Merrill said, a sentiment echoed by other security researchers.

“As reported by KrebsOnSecurity, the scam begins with a text message claiming to be from a toll road operator, such as E-ZPass or SunPass,” The New York Post reports.

To safeguard against these scams, never click on suspicious links or provide personal information online without verifying the source.

Contact the tolling agency directly using known contact information to confirm any claims of debt.

Be proactive by reporting unwanted texts with your phone’s “report junk” feature or by forwarding them to 7726 (SPAM).

After reporting, delete the deceitful text to thwart further attempts at fraud. The FTC offers more guidance on handling such scams at ftc.gov/textscams.

The Trump administration’s recent move to potentially fire FBI agents involved in January 6th investigations has sent shockwaves through the bureau. Acting FBI Director Brian Driscoll and the FBI Agents Association are pushing back against what they see as politically motivated retribution. How could this affect public trust in law enforcement institutions?

Trump Administration’s Push for FBI Firings

The Trump administration has initiated a controversial move to fire FBI agents involved in investigations related to the January 6th Capitol riot. This decision has sparked concern among FBI employees and legal experts alike.

Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove has ordered the removal of eight top FBI executives and requested names of agents involved in January 6th cases. This directive requires thousands of FBI employees to complete detailed questionnaires about their roles in these investigations.

Resistance from FBI Leadership and Associations

Acting FBI Director Brian Driscoll has reportedly resisted efforts to fire a larger number of agents involved in January 6th cases. He maintains his stance against the Department of Justice’s demands, emphasizing the importance of protecting FBI employees from political retribution.

The FBI Agents Association has criticized the planned firings as harmful to national security and law enforcement objectives. They stated, “Dismissing potentially hundreds of Agents would severely weaken the Bureau’s ability to protect the country from national security and criminal threats and will ultimately risk setting up the Bureau and its new leadership for failure.”

Implications and Concerns

Legal experts and former FBI officials view this as an unprecedented campaign of retribution against law enforcement officials. Pennsylvania State University Professor Douglas Charles described the situation as “completely uncharted waters.”The Society of Former FBI Agents has criticized efforts to force out officials without due process. There are concerns that these actions could undermine the FBI’s independence and reflect undue political influence over law enforcement.

Holding no levers of power, Democrats focus on lawfare to slow Trump agenda

It is no secret that Republicans now control all levers of political power in the nation’s capital, with President Donald Trump now ensconced for his second term in office, holding narrow majorities in both the House and Senate and with a solid originalist majority on the U.S. Supreme Court. It is also no secret that, as its political might has faded over the last decade, the Democratic Party has come to rely increasingly on a variety of lawfare campaigns to impede the ability of Republicans to enact their agenda.

One early manifestation of Democrat lawfare efforts came when then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi mounted her first sham impeachment targeting Trump in 2018 with Daniel Sachs Goldman serving as general counsel for the impeachment committee. That effort at political lawfare came up a crapper in the Senate, but Goldman has been rewarded by the party and its voters with a congressional seat representing the 10th district in New York.

Democrats and their supporting activist NGOs also fought Trump’s first term agenda with an organized lawfare effort to file challenges to almost every administration initiative with friendly federal district judges who happily issued a seemingly endless series of nationwide injunctions designed to gum up the works. We saw another example of this on Tuesday when Biden-appointed federal district Judge Loren L. AliKhan blocked Trump’s order to temporarily pause federal grant, loan, and financial assistance programs after 22 Democrat state attorneys general filed suit.

Georgia Democratic Sen.  Raphael Warnock responded to Trump’s order on Thursday by calling it “an assault on the American Republic and the attempt to replace it with their dystopian vision of the future,” adding, “We’ve got to fight back.” Obviously, lawfare will be his and his fellow Democrats’ favored tactic to deploy in that effort.

We can expect to see the same kinds of lawfare efforts by Democrats to attack every aspect of the Trump agenda, including his efforts to roll back the Biden Green New Deal energy agenda. The trouble for Democrats in this policy area, though, comes from the fact that the various lawfare campaigns they’ve mounted attacking the oil and gas industry in recent years have seen little real success.

One of the major coordinated lawfare campaigns left-leaning law firms and activist groups have mounted in recent years has involved an array of coordinating state and local jurisdictions suing oil and gas companies over alleged negative impacts related to carbon emissions. That effort has experienced a series of setbacks in recent months, as courts have ruled against claims filed by New York City, the city of Baltimore, the state of Delaware, and the New York state attorney general targeting major companies like Shell, BP, and ExxonMobil. While the city and county of Honolulu did claim a favorable ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court in early January, the net impact of it was simply to send the case back to a state court for reconsideration. 


This emissions lawfare campaign suffered another setback on Jan. 24 when the circuit court in Ann Arundel County, Maryland, dismissed lawsuits filed by the city of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, citing previous opinions rejecting similar cases. 

“Upon further review, this court is now persuaded that the logic of the disposition and the authorities cited by Senior Judge Videtta A. Brown in the Baltimore Case, the ruling by the Superior Court Judge in the Delaware case, and the ruling in the New York Case, as well as the Second Circuit’s affirmance of that ruling, compel dismissal of these cases for Court’s decision last July to dismiss the reasons stated below,” Anne Arundel Circuit Judge Steve Platt wrote in his decision. 

The fact that these adverse decisions for the mounters of these lawfare efforts are coming in Democrat-heavy blue states does not bode well for Democrat hopes of real success in defeating the Trump energy and climate agenda with this lawfare-centered strategy. But when your political quiver is down to a single arrow, the only available tactic is to fire the arrow you have.
