A Prayer for Easter Peace and Promise
By Heidi Vegh

Bible Reading:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” - John 3:16

Read or Listen Below:

As Easter approaches, we begin to think about the abundant sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross and rising again for the forgiveness of our sins. Although this is the heart of the Gospel, and we should remember this truth daily, Easter is a special time of year to reflect on this promise and allow God’s peace to fill our hearts.

When I was little, my family and I attended a Lutheran church. As we arrived at the church on Easter morning, the stage was covered in a black sheet. It looked ominous and uninviting. The black sheets were slowly removed as the service continued to reveal a large foam stone covering a cave. Slowly, the color started to enter the room as flowers and plants were revealed, and by the end, the stage was lit up with life. We sang Hosanna and praised God for His sacrificial death and miraculous resurrection.

Often, we feel like a black sheet covers things—no life to be seen. Hardship and turmoil overtake us and we feel buried underneath the weight of all the things. If you are in such a season, let’s step back and remember what Jesus did. God knew we would all be drowning in darkness as we lived our days on earth. His miraculous love story was revealed when He sent His only son to earth to live out his days in human flesh. Jesus experienced hardship, rejection, and heartbreak through many difficult circumstances but ended with His sacrificing himself so that we could all live a perfect existence in heaven one day. We don’t have to carry the world's weight, believing this is all there is. There is peace in this promise.

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22).

God knows our world is dark. Our culture gets increasingly more anti-God, and we often feel like there is no hope left for the evil that prevails every day. We feel hopeless as we fight for justice and truth, but it seems that we get trampled. So, let us remember that God fights for us during this Easter season. In the Old Testament, God fought for his people. He trampled His enemies, and His glory prevailed.

In Nahum 1:3, we read, “The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; The Lord will not leave the guilty punished. His way is in the whirlwind, and the storm and clouds are the dust of his feet.”

God will avenge us. When Jesus comes back, all of the evil will wash away. We have hope in this lost, dark world. We hope one day, we will live in perfect peace in heaven with Jesus.

Let that sink in. No matter how helpless or overwhelmed you feel with life, remember that God promises peace in our relationship with Him and that we have the hope of heaven.

Let’s Pray:

Lord, Thank you for your grand love story. Thank you for sending your son Jesus to die a criminal's death so that I don’t have to pay the penalty for my sins. This is a miraculous and glorious truth that I want to live by every day of my life. I pray that I can carry this truth in my heart as I walk out all the hard things on this earth. I pray that I can live with peace that surpasses all understanding, as I hope this life is not all there is. Jesus, life is hard. Life is overwhelming, and when I am still and rest in you, I can soak in that truth. Please help me to remember to stop and recognize you when the world is swirling around me. I pray against the evil that threatens to take me down and fill me with lies. Lies that I don’t matter, lies that this is all there is, and lies that there is no hope. Please help me share this peace and promise with those around me this Easter. Give me the courage to invite friends to church and let them hear the Gospel truth about Easter. Thank you for loving all of me, even when I am at my worst. Please help me remember your sacrifice daily and walk in your peace. In your precious name, Jesus, we pray, Amen

Did Trump ‘Blink’, Like Schumer Says? Funny Memes Put Tariffs In Perspective There's another explanation. And this one probably makes more sense. Wes Walker April 10, 2025

Did Trump ‘Blink’, Like Schumer Says? Funny Memes Put Tariffs In Perspective

There's another explanation. And this one probably makes more sense.

Schumer thinks Dems have got Trump on the ropes over the tariffs question… do you buy it?

Not long after they first took their full effect, Trump has announced a 90 day pause on the tariffs.

Schumer thinks it’s because Trump is in over his head and that he caved to pressure from the markets and the dems.

SENATOR CHUCK SCHUMER: “Trump is now in retreat because Democrats in the Senate and the House and the American people have said STOP playing games with these tariffs. You think it’s a game! You think it’s like red light, green light! It’s not. It’s chaos! And the damage you have done already, despite today’s announcement, is permanent and real and deep.”

“You’re throwing our whole economy out of kilter. You’re telling business people and consumers to not spend because they don’t know what the heck is coming out next. What you’re doing, Donald Trump, is hurting the American people as you play games.”

“Whatever pops into your head the next hour, the next day, the next week, is what you say we’re doing with tariffs. And they constantly contradict each other, make no sense, harm the American economy, and worst of all, American families.”

Of course that’s how the party that has been spinning its wheels looking for something — anything — they can grab for traction as a political cause. They’ve already had several failed attempts. Maybe this tariffs question is the kryptonite they can finally use to take him down.

That will have to depend on what you think REALLY motivated both the tariffs, and the pause.

Love them or hate them, what cannot be ignored about Trump’s tariffs question is the fact that the entire world suddenly cares an awful lot about trade barriers between their country and the United States.

Nobody had given a sweet damn about that question for years. But suddenly, other countries are tripping over themselves to reimagine their trade relationship with Americans?

Why do they all suddenly care?

In the words of Teddy Roosevelt, Trump spoke softly, but carried a big stick. He slapped those tariffs on everyone and everything.

Now there are upward of seventy countries lined up to discuss the nature of trade with the United States.

He announced a ’90-day pause’. That gives time for the crapload of negotiation it will take to iron things out with those 70+ countries.

Everything they said about the market collapse being the worst since 2008 has been reversed. We’ve now seen the biggest rebound since 2008? Maybe even WWII? It’s a big one. If the same people who breathlessly announced the collapse aren’t saying the same thing about the rebound, that says a lot about the story they want their audience to come away with… and it isn’t the truth.

Meanhwile, China is doubling down. That triggered another slap-back from Trump.

Here’s Kevin O’Leary (“Mr. Wonderful”) explaining his reasons for thinking Trump hasn’t yet become aggressive enough with hitting China in the wallet.

And he’s saying it as someone who has business interests there that will pay a price.
