Costco Runs Out Of Emergency Food Kits
Headlines like, "WWIII has likely started already, but we have been slow to recognize it," from Bill Ackman, and corporate media pushing nuclear war hype and hysteria had sparked unease among American households who hadn't felt this way since the early days of the virus pandemic when they were caught empty-handed with limited supplies to weather COVID lockdowns.
Americans, many of whom have been transformed into preppers in a post-COVID era, are at it again, panic hoarding supplies as they fear Russia's invasion of Ukraine could be the catalyst for the next world war (well, at least they think this way because corporate media is telling them). What's evident so far is that Russia's ongoing conflict within Ukraine is disrupting global supply chains and food supplies. People see the writing on the wall as prices soar at gas stations and supermarkets. The conflict overseas is already sending commodity prices sky-high, which may eventually spark shortages.
So as Americans unleash their inner prepper. They're panic hoarding ReadyWise emergency food kits sold at Costco Wholesale Corporation's brick and mortar stores and or online that at least one variety of the products has already been sold out.
ReadyWise's 5,400 serving count of emergency food pallet is "out of stock," according to Costco's website. The emergency food kit comes in 36 stackable 5.3-gallon buckets of food that last up to 25-years.
A customer on the Costco website reviewed the product in early March, days after the invasion of Ukraine, and said, "It never hurts to be prepared. Nice variety of foods, it's easy to store and the shelf life is unbeatable. And it doesn't taste bad at all.'
"Be prepared. Spend the money," another customer wrote.
Since the invasion, search interest for ReadyWise has rocketed above COVID highs.
Besides food, Americans are frantically searching where to buy potassium iodide in case of nuclear war.
While food and medicine are essential, panic hoarding ammunition is already underway.
It never hurts to prepare, considering the fog of war in eastern Europe remains intact, and an end to the conflict is still unknown.
Welcome to Costco, i love you

The movie satire so spot on that they flat out said they won't make a sequel because there's no point
Brought to you by Carl's Jr
It is pure genius

Why do you keep saying that?
Because they pay me every time I do!

Brawndo. It has electrolytes !
Ow! My Balls!
It's a documentary.

We are living in the sequel.

Buy your own mylar bags, oxy absorbers and buckets.
Then go to www.webstaurantstore.com and buy bulk food with long shelf life (oats, rice, dried beans, potato flakes, salt, suger, flour) that you can actually eat and rotate.
Save massive money, get better quality and quantity of food. Be a better prepper on your first try!
Agree with you. You're not going to be able to eat pasta every day.

And a vacuum sealer.

and an electrical generator that runs on…?

Foot pump could work if no power. This is for pre-crash prep work .

@Save Nevada. Web Restaurant is great. So much of their stuff is #10 cans. They also have a program where for $99 a month you get free shipping. So you sign up and get a years worth of stuff then drop the program. Their products are pretty good quality.

Highschool should teach a basic survivors guide to forest camping, foraging, and farming. The fact that it isn't to this day shows how stupid a nation we are.

Yup.
Now we focus on safe spaces and promote gender dysphoria.

All right with me. Too many people in the forest as it is.

Since there are no gender neutral bathrooms in the great outdoors, the great outdoors have been cancelled by the Department of Education. Hate cannot be allowed anywhere.

A tree is a gender neutral facility. Standers pee on the tree. Squatters get behind the tree.
And they better wear masks!
But then the kids wouldn't be 100% dependent on government.

When genocide is the intent, teaching survival is counterproductive.
The Boy Scouts used to things like that, merit badges were pretty hard to get prior to the 1950's. It took a lot to get them. Now they're out of business because they let sodomite predators in and are getting sued into oblivion!

No worries here. I have Uber-Eats on speed dial.
Yeah, I know. Right?
Even better, I have a Domino's Pizza down the street.
Better to be 10 years early than 1 day late.

Especially when the food lasts almost 3 decades.

I got the whole food thing solved , I gained 50 pounds so while everybody else is starving I am just looking better and better.

That's actually the strategy a lot of winners of that "Alone" reality survival show used to outlast the others.
Pop grew up during the depression, we used to eat squab by the pot full, always had a garden and canned, mom made bread and at least one meal a week had #6 shot rolling around on the plate when we were finished eating.
black eye peas and black walnuts ..
Lmao! (#6)

hahahaha #6 shot
I raised chickens and didn’t always get all the *** feathers off.đŸ˜€

Squab = baby pigeons? That's some rough prep work...

Why bother?
I managed to survive Joe Biden’s ‘Winter of Death’ without prepping.

Winter isn't officially over yet.
Two weeks to stop the spread... of warmth
I have food preps made, but apparently i have to hide them from my hoover pig of a wife ,
She eat anything, like a goat , she ate ten of my cans of corn i had stashed , when asked why she said because she was on a diet, so she was only eating canned corn?

Fat women are very oral…I’m certain someone familiar with Pizza Hut would know that.
You have to decide going in that you’re in it for oral to avoid poking fat rolls.
She wasn't fat when i married her
And I haven't implied i was in it for that
You are obviously not familiar with pizza the hutt , you're just looking to make fun of me , but no dice scro

Spaceballs, right?
Vinny? Is that you?
I’m ROLLING!!!! Lmao!!!!

was it cream style corn?

The MIL has been baking muffins lately =)
Yesterday, I found out she's been using my 25 year shelf life muffin mix =(

Every had squirrel on a stick? It's the chicken of the trees...
or rats on a stick
Chavels " Tai Pan" I think. Please correct me.
James Clavell, "King Rat". But close, well done.
Gotta cook those roof rabbits real good!
Crispy Squirrel Bits and Mutfruit FTW while you travel the wastes and blast people with a Railway Rifle.
Spoiler, Nancy Pelosi and a number of other Lefties survive. They're a fearsome beast known as the "DeathClaw".
Yeah, I just wanted the Pelosi as a DeathClaw joke.
Too complementary. She is a Centaur. One with crippled legs.

Meh, just stock up on Twinkies and Spam.

Twinkies are like diamonds. They last forever.

Tards should have learned ranching, husbandry and how to grow food.
Then maybe delved into canning and freeze drying food.
libtards learning fake elections have consequences

Libtards think animal husbandry means taking a sheep to bed.

Just canned some chicken yesterday.
Last week bought some cattle with my buddy for his homestead.

Me too. Canning has a learning curve.đŸ˜€

I'm sure you know only with pressure cooker, differing psi for different altitudes to get a high enough heat. If you do chicken, curry is the best spice I've found for canning. Tap on the lids and listen for the right sound, otherwise run them back through or eat them. I can look and tell how good of a vacuum they have by eye, but they have a duller sound when they didn't create a 'great' one. I don't take much chances with meats.

Still plenty of rice, canned foods, and peanut butter in stock, all of which will serve you better for a lot less money than Mountain (of salt) House.

Ammo.com doesn't ship to California..
I wonder how long things stay Civil once the Government can't afford to fund the EBT cards for all the little Cali hood rats.
When EBT cards are suddenly not accepted....that's when **** gets real.

All hood rats everywhere will not be happy....it'll be kind of a shocker really.

They will loot any stores that are still open.

yes they will...it will be constant and law enforcement will not be able to control it.
looks like a downvoting karen is now present.

Some still think reparations is a thing.

25 cans of tuna fish will keep you alive for 60 days...
But 120 days of nothing but tuna as protein will cause you kill yourself, so best to mix it up a bit.
Or buy a ******** of tuna helper.
rabbit starvation?
Now that you say it, yes, probably. Tuna's really low in fat.
Good source of Potassium and Iodine though, hilariously enough.
Some of the Tuna Helper things have quite a bit of fat in them though, so... actually they're not a terrible idea now that I think about it.
Don't forget it's also a good source of mercury, too!
I have canned ravioli, it tastes good cold.

chefboyardi was the best
Ya it used to be great, I bought a few cans a couple years ago and it gave me a sugar low. Like everything its been hit by shrinkflation and tomatoes have been partially replaced by high fructose corn syrup and food coloring.

It's easy to start a fire and put the can on it

Pour it into your pants pockets first thing in the morning and by lunch time it's plenty warm.

We used to Chuck the can straight into the fire, wait till it bulged, then yank it out with a stick. I have no idea why but it tastes amazing that way.
Kill joys said it’s dangers because the can solder get in the food. I figure it made me immortal.
all the BPAs

Good. Everyone should be doing this. If you don't need it you either eat it later or give it away. If you can't find prepared food, look into other alternatives.
Naw. The greedy ammoral virtue signaling corporations aren’t gonna stop stocking the stores, no matter what the standard ZH commenter says. That, and I’m not gonna eat that crap anyways.

Own your philosophy PrintCash. You believe in yourself. Your enlightened self-interest. Everyone else be damned. Maybe one day they will let you in to Bohemian Grove.
You don’t believe in yourself? Too bad, but understandable.
Actually I run a totally review driven business, I run it quite well, and have very satisfied customers. All with minimal gov regulation. Miraculous. But that’s what us really greedy business guys do, we ammorally satisfy the customer.

That's great. And your total self-interest philosophy is great, also. You certainly don't need to prove it to me or anyone else, because you are totally confident in your self-interest.
You’d probably sell your house below market value just to not maximize self interest I suppose? Give the grocery store more of your money? Maybe find the most expensive store to do your shopping?
“What is greed? Of course, none of us are greedy, it’s only the other fellow who’s greedy.” MF

No, I have all kinds of self-interest and I don't do stupid stuff. But I don't live by the philosophy that everyone else can just go f themselves like you and your buddy Ayn. And by the way, what do you care what I think? Why are you trying to defend yourself when you obviously know best and don't care about what people like me think?
Why? It’s fun. You’re wrong. And I enjoy pointing it out.
And that’s greedy ammoral profit maximizing 101, F the customer so they don’t come back. You enjoy twisting yourself into a illogical pretzel for fun, don’t ya?

Greed doesn't stock store shelves. Products are needed
“Greed” will find a way.

Try for anything.
+1 Canned food.
+1 Water.
+1 Frozen food. The NSA and GCHQ need the power on so that might still be ok for a while.
Have you ever sat and watched an early spring sunrise, with fresh succulent shoots bursting from the ground and the flowering plants wearing their colorful bloom
When the sun rise meets the horizon the sky turns a vibrant gold , like the flame of a lighter as nature lights a cigarette
The smell of a new spring flower is the smell of promise
The smell of continuity in a cycle as old as time itself
Beautiful. And yes, have watched

I also love the smell of a freshly lit cigarette.
I can fart in ur general direction if that'll help?

If you smell like a DuMaurier sure...

I prefer a cigar.
Bill Clinton? Is that you?

Jesus. /s

I live near a pizza place so I am good to go.

I have been buying a lot of Polish food in glass bottles, nicer than cans and very few chemicals. I have a stream running through the property that is pristine and five large gardens with a 32 foot greenhouse.
Looking to buy some night vision goggles and get more ammo. FJB

Pretty reasonable night vision binoculars from IJKSALES.COM in Phoenix. 602 690-6976. Russian tech of course.

No.

Save up and get some real ones. PVS 14s aren't unreachable.

Ok. $300 vs. $3000 or more.

Buy once, cry once. If you get 300$ Russian nods, you're getting gen I crap. For about $400-800 you could just buy the components and build 14s. Your phone would probably give the Russian ones a run for their money.

No, Gen2+ with a firmware enhancement.
Infrared light source with 3 settings.
I'd spend more on a night scope which is where the work gets done.

You don't want to live in the collapsed society.
My plan is to live with Amish relatives if everything collapses. They are already living like the modern age never happened.

I long started to believe that they’re the smart ones.
always had incredible respect for them.. not being slaves to 'convenience'

Plus, those Amish broads really put out.

Let's just say they can raise more than a barn, if you follow..

Pole barns

Amish relatives eh? Lucky you. I live near Amish country and also by one of the largest communes in the country. Honestly, I should try to make connections with both while I still can.
Of course Tennessee and other southern states have no increase in the amount of ammo purchased we started purchasing ammo when St. George Floyd got his neck twisted up and they started burning down the city

I have a little stash that requires a large van to move

Just one? ;)

That Costco "Emergency Food" isn't fit for your neighbor's dog. Even if you are starving to death. A relative bought some 2 years ago and treated us to a sample. No thanks. Hand it out to the Zombies - fatten them up so they've got meat on their bones.

You don’t know anything about starving then.

Holodomir.

Yes, mass famine is upon us.
Start preparing.
Almost too late now
Yeah fear is starting to set in. The Walmart near me used to have a whole canned goods section, used to be the entire aisle. A week ago I found out it is only 1/2 of the aisle now.
Edit—pasta section was completely cleaned out.

start
LMAO

No need to prep, gov't will take care of us. :>)

Or they'll take it by force and redistribute, just like income.
Besides, when you're looking healthy and others aren't, your secret will be out. The mob will be there shortly.
'Give us your food!!!'
'Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang..........'

Costco, one of the first corporations to demand mask wearing of employees and customers. It was also considered an "essential" business and stayed open while smaller businesses went bankrupt.
It ran out of toilet paper while stores all around it had plenty of stock, curiously.
Now it's run out of food kits, and somehow, that too has become a media story.
Does anybody smell the same old corporate BS in the air? In case there is doubt about what I'm saying: Costco is no better than all of the other big-box stores out there who profited handsomely from fake covid.

I just watched a Ben Stiller/ Vince Vaughn movie that was all about CostCo.
In the end, they blew it up.

good for them...

A movie with a happy ending!

While people were freaking out about toilet paper I bought automotive paper towels.
Let's look at this with some skepticism. We've already established that Ukraine is a fake war. China and neighbors seem to be setting up more fake war for that part of the world. Everything being reported in fake news right now seems designed to terrorize and herd people in different directions and discourage critical thought: "Trust authority" (even if it kills you). People could be stockpiling wrong things for wrong reasons, just like we saw during the early days of "Covid," when morons lined up for blocks to hoard toilet paper. If there's one thing everybody on ZH must have learned by now, it is that we need to think creatively and critically and stay agile. Whatever the psychopaths are planning for the next crisis will be unique and therefore require a unique response.
From what I gather, there's already a plan to switch out old banknotes for new asset backed currency in a process that will supposedly be seamless. Hoarding cash now could get you stuck with a lot of devalued old cash. If forecasts for a die-off among the injectees prove correct, there's going to be deflation across much of the tangible economy. Buying a bunch of stuff with the devalued currency in use today could in retrospect prove to be a bad idea, if the same stuff can be purchased later for a fraction of the cost.
All I'm suggesting now is that we should hedge our bets and not commit wholly to one scenario that may fail to accommodate unexpected changes to the environment that we're trying to navigate.

Nobody cared about it other than dear Hunter Biden, sitting on the Burisma board & directing their natural gas business for a paltry $50k/month. Take a look at the Ukrainians, their $1.575/average wages, the companies like Audi, Mercedes, VW exploiting the labor & selling vehicles the locals simply cannot afford. Suddenly little Texas-sized Ukraine matters more than life itself. Right.
Putin is going to win this venture, nato has zero business up against the Russian border, simple as that. China will look the other way, as it should.

China is in on it, dolt.

glad you could join us. yesh, chyna protect it's intwests. biGly.
Hopefully China will arm Russia

Hunter's board salary on Burisma was actually $83,333.33/month.
Cobra!

hope that stripper's kid gets 15% in an Oppenheimer Fund. Good.
I'm suggesting now is that we should hedge our bets and not commit wholly to one scenario that may fail to accommodate unexpected changes to the environment that we're trying to navigate.
touche'
The trick is have some leverage ( hedge ) like an Ace in the hole, a lil secret that nobody knows.
Even if it's having several escape routes in-mind & how long / far you could get away & what you will do once your there..i.e a tent, water, sleeping bags, something to cook with, flashlights.
I've seen folks that have gotten lost when they get to an area & there's no cell service..carry a road Atlas.
Give me tacos or give me death.
You seem to be the only one here who "gets it."

The problem with 25 year food supplies, is, the crisis if real will only last about 30 days, before people are climbing walls and shooting their neighbors, you are better off just buying regular food in 90 days worth and keep rotating.

Get both.
Thats prepping.

And if the crisis goes for years? I don't believe that it will. Americans will build greenhouses and do whatever it takes.
But I didn't stock up on preserved food beyond those 90 days, I stocked up on plant lights. So long as there is power, I will be able to grow enough potatoes to survive. Otherwise it is time to flee into the wilderness.
Max out your credit cards and buy barter goods...
Let them try to collect.
.
Bring the collapse.
That may work....
This stuff is very expensive. Buy rice, oil, flour and sugar in bulk. White rice will last 20+ years if it is stored in a dry place. Canned meat can last 10 years or more.
And don’t forget the Mylar bags.
Prepping is not panicking. The panic happens after the fact for non-preppers.
get the ones made to work with vacuum sealer machines though ... the regular ones (no texture along the opening edge) just clam up and won't work .. the texture allows a bit of air flow, allowing the bag to be vacuumed. not only does this make the food last longer, but it cuts down on space requirements more than you might think.
$2 per serving is really not that expensive especially if you figure in the ENERGY costs of preparation. Boiling water is easy energy wise compared to cooking raw beans and rice. Plus with the long shelf life, in ten years or less we will be probably looking at $20 per serving easy. Please add salt and pepper and other spices to your list. There was a survival food challenge a few years ago using just the "basics" you listed...and after like 8 days everyone quit because they could not take anymore bland food such as beans and rice. Salt and spices were the major missing components NOT calories Haha
Very true. The members of the Lewis and Clark expedition had to overcome salt shortages.
https://history.army.mil/lc/The%20People/SALT.htm
THIS! I wish I could upvote you more. The freeze dried stuff tastes terrible and it's expensive. Get oats, rice, flour, salt, sugar in as much bulk as you can properly store, A big container for potable water, multivitamins, as much canned goods with meat and vegetables as you can fit into your space. And tabasco, lots of it.
I updated you, but instead of potable water consider this. Water is available almost anywhere. However, purified water isn't.
Solve that with two five gallon buckets, a couple of t-shirts and chlorine (bleach).
Take one five gallon bucket of water out of your dirty swamp pond if need be, then strain it through a t-shirt into the other empty bucket. Add a drop or two of bleach. Stir then let sit for 20 minutes.
Chlorine bleach dies in the bottle starting at 6 months old. Buy powdered pool shock and make bleach as needed. Two drops in 5 gallons is not enough. Do more research and get real water purifying filter systems / straws. Cloth screen material like a beekeeper headnet is good for tent screening to protect food and mealtime gatherings from flying insects carrying cholera. All groundwater is contaminated, mostly with giardia bacteria.
Add some sweets to mix it up, and keep up your good mood. Dark chocolate, honey, ...
survivalfrog.com canned meats 25 year shelf life.
I have over 200k limit on my cards. Tempted to buy and stiff them
the moment you try the limit will drop to 7500
Nope. It'll take a day or two =) Remember--deep down, they want us to max out our cards. They think they have us all trapped.
The idea that a critical mass of their 'customers' might simply say "**** you" in unison? Unimaginable, at least to them.
Sorry Charlie,They will 1099 you.
Not sure you can do that. Should be able to because that is supposed to be the reason they can charge 21% interest. Still, sometimes in the not too distant past I thought I read they could collect. Makes sense they would get a legislator to write laws for them? Anyway I would check it out first before i try that.
found it;
"It is a misconception that credit card issuers do not have legal recourse for recovering money owed simply because the debt is considered "unsecured". Unsecured debt only signifies that there is no specific property attached to the debt itself. The debtor can be sued for the amount owe plus legal costs and other fees. If the plaintiff/creditor wins the suit (they always do) a judgment is enterered against the debtor/defendant. A judgment can be executed in accordance with the laws of the debtor's state, the preferred method of enforcing a creditor judgment is by wage garnishment or bank account levy. Other options are the seizure and sale of non exempt property belonging to the debtor and liens against real property belonging to the debtor."
If there is a "collapse"
Then there won't be any electricity to run the bank computers
Ergo, the debt disappears, not with a bang, but with a whimper
Yes, this is simple thinking that you charge your cards if you have assets. They will collect. The opt out is bankruptcy, but you can't have assets or earning capacity to wipe your debts in bankruptcy. Very wealthy people can do it but only because they are paying back a big chunk which is better than nothing.
It's a fool's game to run up debt unless you're about to kick or you are ready to be truly poor for a while. Run up assets and be self-sufficient to F the man.
This is why we should all have a responsible partner that we love and trust. All assets transferred before the SHTF = nothing for them to take. I guess I should consider myself lucky.
@zzmop: What the fine print says and what they do are two different things. It depends on several factors. If you work, its not a good idea to run up a credit card and bail. They can garnish your wages.
However, if you are out of the system so to speak…repeatedly doing this is a gravy train. They can’t garnish SS, SSI. They couldn’t even garnish the stimmie checks.
If you have a small piece of property and a small house….they again, won’t touch you.
When someone bails….they send it to creditors right away. Creditors robo call, so if its an unknown number showing up on your phone, you don’t answer. At about the six month mark, they write it off. As long as you don’t pay another dime, they can’t go after you for that specific debt.
I did this the first time by accident. I had a lot of CC debt from losing my business. They literally left me alone after I bailed. I received a call or two a day which I didn’t answer, and a dun letter once a month.
Then they started sending me NEW offers. Kid you not. So I signed up again. They upped my credit limit regularly. So at some point I ran them up and bailed again. Same thing. Within 6 months they were sending me new offers again.
I am now on another cycle. Five companies gave me credit limits between 1500 and 4000.
The little known fact is that they make money when you default. They write it off on their corporate taxes. I never feel guilty and I wouldn’t do it with any company except the credit card companies.
Sometimes, it will even be the same damn companies!
you're going to ruin easy credit for all the other misinformed lemmings. oh no stop.
My brother fell on hard times. Has not paid his credit cards in 3+ years. They are not going hard ball at all. They are desperate for any kind of payment. No hard legal threats. Prior to this, the credit card companies would send you to collections on month 4 and to the legal dept for civil judgments by month 7-12. You don't show for that court date, they go after your employer and bank accounts and assets. The collection agents are dirty as F. They break every FDCPA Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You can sue them for violations. Last time I heard it was $1500 per occurance. Easy to win if you can prove it.
They'll check, but if there isn't much coming back on you (employer/assets/bad credit report) they can go after, then it's more or less calls & letters.
3+ years on those debts? Forget it; those are sent to the back of the line. They'll still keep reporting it to his credit (likely) which can try to be removed with some decent work. It's tough because after 7 years they are supposed to come off entirely anyway, but ANY payment resets the clock...so don't have him pay anything on it unless he's ready to pay it down, off, or has a settlement offer, otherwise it's all for nothing.
Worse than nothing you mean. Wow, that is an eye opener.
About a year ago, I bought one of those 5 day meal kits, it was mostly carbs like macaroni and cheese, rice, oatmeal and cheap crap like that. You are better off with cans and some regular food that that overpriced garbage!
