MSNBC guest stunningly claims Ukrainians are ‘more American’ than Americans are
Ukraine First politics occurred on MSNBC Friday as an attack on President Donald Trump wildly attempted a pecking order of patriotism for who was “more American.”

No actions appeared sufficient for those peddling Russian collusion narratives to drop their tired attacks on the GOP leader. Even as the president threatened sanctions over the latest aggression against Ukraine, Independent Veterans of America CEO Paul Rieckhoff claimed Trump had not only “completely betrayed Ukraine,” but that the European nation’s people were “more American than we are.”
Appearing on MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour” with host Stephanie Ruhle, the self-styled “Independent” with a Ukraine flag displayed on his X account asserted Friday, “Donald Trump has completely betrayed Ukraine. And he has stabbed them in the back and every week he needs to twist it and drive it deeper with a new move that cuts more of their legs out from under them, that kills more civilians, that puts them more in jeopardy, that weakens NATO and helps Russia.”
“It’s a national disgrace,” he continued after Ruhle prompted the topic with the latest attacks from Russia against Ukraine.
“What do you say to the person who says, ‘Well, I don’t care about Ukraine. I want Donald Trump to stand up for America?'” the host went on to ask.
Twisting opposition to endless funding of Ukraine to mean support for Russia, Rieckhoff railed, “Where did you grow up? Did you grow up in a place where you thought the Russians were the good guys? What part of America did you grow up in where they taught you the Russians were the good guys and our allies were the bad guys? That’s the flip here that we need to continue to remind people. The Russians are the bad guys. They’re raping women. They’re killing children. They’re bombing cities.”
“The Ukrainians are the noble good guys. In some ways, they’re more American than we are over the last couple of years, and we must stand with them in the same way we stood with the Allies in World War II- and since this country was founded,” he continued. “This is not just about Ukraine. This is about the core and the integrity of American values. And that’s what he’s also betraying- not just Ukraine. He’s betraying American values.”
Ruhle excitedly responded, “That’s what I was hoping you would get at because this isn’t just about Ukraine. This is about Russia. And don’t we need to remind the American people that they are the bad guy and why we need to care?”
Meanwhile, Trump asserted on Truth Social Friday, “Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely ‘pounding’ Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large scale Banking Sanctions, Sanctions, and Tariffs on Russia until a Cease Fire and FINAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT ON PEACE IS REACHED.”
“To Russia and Ukraine, get to the table right now, before it is too late. Thank you!!!” he added before joining Fox News host Maria Bartiromo for an interview over the weekend where he reminded, “Nobody has been tougher on Russia than Donald Trump. Nobody. And they know that. Just look at the things I just told you. The pipeline, I stopped it. The biggest job they’ve ever done was the pipeline, Nordstream 2. Nobody ever heard of it until I came along…I stopped it.”
“[President Joe] Biden got in, on the second day, he approved it,” added Trump. “He said let it go forward. It was totally stopped. Just that one thing alone tells you everything.”
Of course, the ongoing framing of the administration’s position on Ukraine was far from a victimless crime, as Vice President J.D. Vance detailed an experience over the weekend where protesters made his three-year-old daughter Mirabel “increasingly anxious and scared.”
As he explained on X Saturday, “Today while walking my 3 year old daughter a group of ‘Slava Ukraini’ protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared.”
“I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed.),” he explained. “It was a mostly respectful conversations, but if you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a sh*t person.”
