Dems Propose Bill that Glorifies Alleged Murderer
California Democrats have prompted outrage after proposing a healthcare-related bill named after alleged murderer Luigi Mangione, who reportedly murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by shooting him in the back on a New York City street.
Local news outlet KTLA reports that the “Luigi Mangione Act” — which would restrict insurance companies from denying coverage — has already made it to the California attorney general’s desk.
If the bill is signed into law, it would make it illegal for insurance companies in California to “delay, deny or modify any medical procedure or medication” prescribed by an in-state doctor if failure to carry out these treatments could result in “disability, death, amputation, permanent disfigurement, loss or reduction of any bodily function.”
The “Luigi Mangione Act” would also require that any modifications to these treatments be imposed only by licensed physicians, and would make it illegal for anyone other than licensed physician to review or modify such treatments.
In order to deny an individual coverage for any issue, insurance companies operating in California would be required to prove “by clear and convincing evidence that the medication or procedure was unnecessary or would not result in disability, death, amputation, permanent disfigurement or the loss or reduction of any bodily function.”
While the bill itself faced some criticism, the vast majority of the backlash came because of the shocking decision to name it after an alleged murderer, especially in light of the previous backlash over the left’s hero worship of Mangione.
“Well that’s f****ing disgusting and insane!” Guy Benson wrote in a post on X.
“This is like calling a pro-abortion bill the ‘Kermit Gosnell Act.’ It’s deranged,” another user wrote, referring to the serial killer abortionist who murdered at least three infants born alive following botched illegal late-term abortions, while also keeping the bodies of his victims in jars, as police found intact human remains of 47 victims in his clinic stored in bags and cartons
“Using a [murderers] name to glorify a bill is on another level,” Chef Andrew Gruel commented.
Fox News comedian Jimmy Failla shared a video slamming the bill, saying, “We don’t name legislation after murderers. If we did, we’d have a marriage act named after O.J. Simpson. Or a family planning bill named after Charles Manson.”
Failla went on to point out that legislation is supposed to be named “after the victims of the thing you’re trying to fix.”
He then joked that, as an example, they could name a bill trying to “combat the rash of stupid people in society” after disgraced Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX).
