Is NASA's Solution for Supermeteor Devastation Found in Bible?

Is NASA's Solution for Supermeteor Devastation Found in Bible?

“And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth blood and fire and pillars of smoke.” Joel 3:3 (The Israel Bible™)
An apocalyptic end-of-days scenario involving a mysterious planetary body may not be as unlikely as it appears, as evidenced by a massive joint simulation by NASA and FEMA anticipating a worst-case strike by a 330-foot meteor last month in California.

The two organizations conducted the “planetary protection exercise” to prepare for the possibility of a massive meteor strike, though scientists admit they have no way of preventing such a disaster. If such a meteor were to hit an urban center, it would level structures in a radius of 30 miles, require mass evacuation, and cause untold numbers of casualties.
One visionary, part scientist and part Bible scholar, theorized decades ago that the solution for this apocalyptic scenario was implanted in the Bible, granting those who studied it the ability to save mankind from this global threat.
Fear of an apocalyptic meteor strike is not new and even has sources in Judaism. Despite NASA denying its existence, theories surrounding Nibiru, a large planetary body many believe will strike the planet with catastrophic results, persist. Just a few months ago, Rabbi Alon Anava, a prominent educator, spoke about Planet X, also known as Nibiru, as one of the ways in which God could send divine retribution. Rabbi Anava suggested that Nibiru was the cause of the flood in the time of Noah, warning the same method could be used again in the future.

“He moved one of the planets a little bit. That caused the flood to happen,” Rabbi Anava theorized at a lecture.
Rabbi Matityahu Glazerson, a renowned expert in Torah codes, found hints of a cataclysmic strike by Nibiru hidden in the Bible. Rabbi Glazerson suggests that a Nibiru strike could be punishment for US President Obama pressuring Israel to relinquish territory.
Though there are several facilities to track potentially dangerous meteors, such as the Catalina Sky Survey, no facilities exist to cope with such a meteor once it is detected. In fact, scientists are not entirely sure how to meet such a global threat. The exercise projected a scenario four years in the future, though Paul Chodas, manager of NASA’s Center for Near-Earth Object Studies, admitted that even after detected, that may not be enough time to intercept asignificant meteor.
At present, the Catalina Sky Survey is tracking 659 asteroids that pose a potential threat to the Earth. “None pose a significant threat over the next century, either because the probabilities are extraordinarily small, or the asteroids themselves are extremely small,” Chodas said.
“Nevertheless, we must continue searching for asteroids in case there is one that is heading our way.”
While science may not provide the answer, John Hulley, in his 1996 book, “Comets, Jews and Christians”, hypothesized that help may come from another source. Hulley, a respected figure in science and theology who studied international economics and divinity at Harvard before converting to Judaism and moving to Israel, proposed that the Jews have a special role in saving mankind from this fate.
Hulley suggested that a simple solution was divinely implanted within mankind, ready to spring into existence when the need becomes apparent: Jewish learning and intellect.
Hulley noted that when he wrote his book in 1990, Jews had been awarded 22 percent of all Nobel prizes. Proportional to its population size, Hulley calculated that the Jews have earned 25 times their proportional shares of Nobels in science. Since Hulley published his book, those figures have increased, with Jews being awarded 27 percent of the Nobel Prizes in scientific research awarded since 2000.

A Jew is “five times more likely to win a Nobel Prize in science than the average Protestant, who is ten times more likely to do so than the average Catholic,” Hulley wrote in 1996.
Hulley attributed this success to the Bible. “The Biblical commandments help create a social framework of mutual responsibility, in which individualists have the most chance of flourishing,” he claimed.
“God’s promise is being made good. Bible influence has, all along, been preparing us to deal with the environment. It is thus actually constructing a base for long-run survival of humanity.”
He pointed to the success the Jews have had in Israel, turning the inhospitable desert into a paradise. He also noted that Israel’s military resilience in the face of vastly superior enemies is precisely the type of inventive intelligence required to save the human species from extra-planetary threats.
Similar to Rabbi Anava, Hulley concluded by comparing the global threat of meteors to the Biblical flood in the time of Noah.
“The divine plan works through the actions of men,” Hulley wrote. “It calls for dedication by every individual.”

Trump’s vow on Medicare in doubt after HHS choice

The selection of Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) to become Health and Human Services secretary is testing President-elect Donald Trump’s vow not to cut Medicare.
During the campaign, Trump said he stood out from other Republicans because he did not want to change the popular program.
“I’m not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican, and I’m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid,” Trump told the Daily Signal last year.
His campaign promoted the article’s headline — “Why Donald Trump Won’t Touch Your Entitlements” — on its website.
But Price does want to touch entitlements.
He is a proponent of a plan, also backed by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), to turn Medicare into a “premium support” system, which Democrats warn would end the program’s traditional guarantee of government-provided coverage for seniors.
Now that Price is set to head HHS, major changes to Medicare as well as Medicaid could be on the agenda — something Democrats fear would put big holes in the healthcare safety net.
Under a Medicare premium support system, seniors would get a set amount of money from the government to help them buy health insurance from a private insurance company, in contrast to the current government-run Medicare program.
Democrats say that because the whole idea of premium support is to save the government money, the government financial assistance would not keep up with rising healthcare costs over time, forcing more and more of the costs onto seniors.
They also suggest that costs could spiral out of control for the people remaining in the traditional Medicare program, which could remain an option, competing alongside private plans. Healthier people could be more likely to choose private plans, leaving the main program with sick people and higher costs.
Republicans counter that Medicare will eventually become insolvent and changes are needed to make it more efficient and save money.
“What we propose would ensure these programs have not just a future but a brighter one,” Price said in a speech at the Heritage Foundation in 2014 in favor of premium support. “Reform is the avenue to improvement of services as much as a way to stave off fiscal collapse.”
Democrats are already salivating over the prospect of Republicans seeking to upend Medicare, sensing a way to rally their party and gain political advantage.
“We say to our Republicans who want to privatize Medicare: Go try it, make our day,” Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), the incoming Democratic leader, said Tuesday, accusing the GOP of a “war on seniors.”
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), meanwhile, tweeted an image of Trump’s promise last year not to touch entitlements, including Medicare. Sanders asked if Trump “has any intention of keeping the promise that he made, or has he played the American people for suckers?”
Price and Ryan, though, have signaled that they are serious about going forward with changes to Medicare next year.
Price told reporters earlier this month that lawmakers could even use the fast-track process known as reconciliation to get a Medicare overhaul through the Senate with 50 votes, meaning it would not need Democratic support.
Senate Republicans, though, are less enthusiastic.
In contrast to ObamaCare, which Republicans in both chambers have openly called for repealing, Medicare changes engender caution among Senate Republicans.
Asked about a Medicare overhaul next year, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday said, “I’m not going to speculate on what the agenda may be on a variety of different issues next year.”
Vulnerable Senate Democrats are already signaling they could use Republican-backed changes to Medicare as a campaign issue.
Sen. Joe Donnelly (D), who faces reelection in 2018 in the red state of Indiana, was quick to oppose Price’s nomination because he “led the charge to privatize Medicare.”
Edwin Park, vice president for health policy at the liberal Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, said that since premium support is a way to save the government money, over time, “the federal government spends less; people have to spend more.”
A major rationale for a premium support option is the idea that Medicare is running out of money, so changes have to be made.
Tricia Neuman, a Medicare expert at the Kaiser Family Foundation, said the program does have long-term challenges, mainly because of an aging population, but the issue is less urgent than it has been in the past.
“Medicare is in relatively good financial shape,” she said, adding that it is projected to be solvent through 2028, a more distant date than has previously been projected.
Medicare spending growth is slowing, a change many experts attribute in part to reforms from ObamaCare, which set in motion many projects aimed at changing how Medicare pays for care.
However, Tom Miller, a healthcare expert at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, argued that a premium support system would allow private insurance plans to compete with the traditional system and see which is better.
“It sets the table for saying, if private plans do a better job, they’ll get more people and offer better prices,” Miller said. “Don’t be afraid to find out what that answer is.”
Some liberals are even more worried about Medicaid, the government healthcare program for low-income people, which generally has less political protection against cuts than Medicare.
Price and other Republicans have called for block grants to Medicaid, so instead of an open-ended federal commitment, states would have a set amount of funding to draw from.
Republicans say this would save money and give states more control, but Democrats warn that it would lead to cuts in benefits or caps on enrollment.
The potential sweep of the changes is massive. Twenty million Americans have gained coverage through ObamaCare, while 55 million people are enrolled in Medicare and 73 million people are in Medicaid.

Will Mahmoud Abbas
pay
salaries to the arsonists?

Op-ed by PMW director in today's Jerusalem Post

by Itamar Marcus
While Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas was accepting praise for sending Palestinian firefighters to help put out fires in Israel, the PA Finance Ministry was busy doing the paper work to start paying salaries to the Palestinian arsonists who were arrested for setting many of those same fires. So far Israel has arrested 23 suspected arsonists connected to the hundreds of fires that raged across Israel last week burning more than 500 homes and 32,000 acres of forests and national parks. According to Palestinian law documented by PMW, anyone imprisoned for "resisting the occupation" receives a high monthly salary. Therefore, all of those convicted and imprisoned for arson will receive PA salaries "from the day of arrest until the day of release."
Of course, it is not only arson-terrorists who receive a PA salary. All Palestinian, Israeli Arab and Arab terrorists from any country who are imprisoned are rewarded with high salaries from the PA. (See PMW Special Report) According to PA law and practice, "resisting the occupation" includes any Arab imprisoned for attacking Israelis by any means, including throwing a stone at a car, driving a car into people at bus stops, building bombs for suicide bombers to blow up at cafes, or shooting and stabbing civilians to death in their sleep. Since the PA automatically includes anyone who attacked Israelis or their possessions as "fighters" who are "resisting the occupation," there is no justification under Palestinian law and practice not to include last week's arsonists among the Palestinian "heroes" who receive monthly salaries.

Significantly, these salaries for terrorists rise the longer terrorists are in jail. Terrorists convicted of murder and serving life sentences will reach a high salary of NIS 12,000 a month - more than four times the average Palestinian salary.

The PA has already paid the five Hamas terrorists who murdered Eitam and Naama Henkin in front of their four children last October in total NIS 91,000 as reward for their murders. And terrorist Abdallah Barghouti has already received NIS 645,000 for building the bombs that murdered 67 Israelis at the Sbarro pizza shop, Sheffield Club, Moment Café, the triple bombing at the Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall, Hebrew University and No. 4 bus in Tel Aviv.

Today there are approximately 7,000 Palestinian prisoners on the PA payroll. The PA rewards them every month for terrorism, and this generous arrangement will cost the PA NIS 488 million in 2016 alone, according to the PA's publicized budget.

If Abbas was ever serious about stopping the PA's ongoing support for terrorism, he now has the perfect opportunity to make a difference. Instead of merely enjoying complimentary headlines and nice photo ops of Palestinian firemen with Israelis, Abbas should decree that the arsonists will not receive PA salaries.

Even though this is contrary to current Palestinian law and practice.

Should Abbas insist on adding the imprisoned arsonists to the PA payroll, his hypocrisy in sending a few fire engines to Israel will be exposed to the world.

Should Abbas decide to deny salaries to the arsonists this may indicate the beginning of a fundamental change in the PA attitude toward terrorism. However, if Abbas cancels salaries only to the arsonists, it will not be enough. If he says to the world that the PA will not pay salaries those who burned trees, rocks and homes while it continues to pay salaries to murderers of men, women and children, his values and behavior, which cause many to see him as a terrorist leader, will remain unchanged.

If Abbas' act of sending fire trucks to help Israel was a sincere act indicating that he is no longer a terrorist leader, he now has a great opportunity to prove it.

Right now while he has the world's attention, having made this small gesture in the direction of peace, let him take a serious step. Abbas should announce that not only will the arsonists not be rewarded with PA salaries, but he is changing Palestinian law and canceling the payments to all imprisoned terrorists altogether.

And what better opportunity than now to announce this, during Fatah's Seventh General Conference.

If Abbas continues to pay salaries to murderers and arsonists, his gesture of sending fire trucks to Israel must be seen as an act of contemptuous hypocrisy.

The author is director of Palestinian Media Watch. In response to PMW's recent report on PA salaries to terrorists, entitled "The PA's Billion Dollar Fraud," Britain froze 25 million pounds, one third of its foreign aid to the PA, and the US Senate passed a bill to cut off from US yearly funding to the PA the amount the PA pays to terrorists.
