Judicial Watch: Feds caught 'red-handed in another cover-up'

Judicial Watch announced Monday it has more information about the never-ending scandal of Hillary Clinton's emails.
It's over her transfer of classified information through an unsecured email system while she was secretary of state and her deletion of more than 30,000 subpoenaed emails.
Her use of the email system has been characterized as a closely held secret while she was using it. But Judicial Watch says it now has evidence the State Department knew of it system early as early as 2010.
Daniel Baer, an Obama State Department deputy assistant secretary of state, wrote to Michael Posner, then-assistant secretary of state in 2010 about Clinton’s private email address.
He warned, "Be careful, you just gave the secretary's personal email address to a bunch of folks."
Baer noted she "guards it pretty closely."
But Clinton's email address had been in an email sent to State Department officials about WikiLeaks.
"It appears the State Department produced this email in 2016 in redacted form, blacking out Clinton’s personal email address and the discussion about Clinton’s wanting to keep her email address closely guarded," Judicial Watch said.
The watchdog sought the email after a former top Freedom of Information Act State Department official testified to Judicial Watch about reviewing it between late 2013 and early 2014.
Judicial Watch said the email production comes in discovery granted to Judicial Watch in a FOIA lawsuit in which Clinton also faces potential questioning under oath.
The court had ordered the production of the email, but the DOJ and State produced it only after Judicial Watch threatened to seek a court order.
"Judicial Watch just caught the State Department and DOJ red-handed in another email cover-up – they all knew about the Clinton email account but covered up the smoking-gun email showing this guilty knowledge for years," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
Judicial Watch has been hunting evidence of the email scandal for several years. It is probing whether Clinton used private email in an effort to evade the Freedom of Information Act; whether the State Department’s attempt to settle the FOIA case in 2014 and 2015 amounted to bad faith; and whether the State Department has adequately searched for records responsive to the request.
A federal judge recently raised concerns about the email scandal and urged Judicial Watch to "shake this tree" and see what it can find out.
The judge also criticized the State Department's handling and production of Clinton's emails in the case.
"There is no FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] exemption for political expedience, nor is there one for bureaucratic incompetence," the judge said.
The case includes court authorization for multiple depositions from Clinton associates and representatives.
Judicial Watch listed its discoveries about the scope of the Clinton email scandal:
  • John Hackett, former director of information programs and services (IPS) testified under oath that he had raised concerns that Clinton’s staff may have “culled out 30,000” of the secretary’s “personal” emails without following strict National Archives standards. He also believed there was interference with the formal FOIA review process related to the classification of Clinton’s Benghazi-related emails.
  • Heather Samuelson, Clinton’s White House liaison at the State Department, and later Clinton’s personal lawyer, admitted under oath that she was granted immunity by the Department of Justice in June 2016.
  • Justin Cooper, former aide to President Bill Clinton and Clinton Foundation employee who registered the domain name of the unsecure clintonemail.com server that Clinton used while serving as secretary of state, testified he worked with Huma Abedin, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, to create the non-government email system.
  • In interrogatory responses, E.W. Priestap, assistant director of the FBI Counterintelligence Division, stated that the agency found Clinton email records in the Obama White House, specifically, the Executive Office of the President.
  • Jacob Sullivan, Clinton’s senior advisor and deputy chief of staff when she was secretary of state, testified that both he and Clinton used her unsecure non-government email system to conduct official State Department business.
  • Eric Boswell, former assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security during Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state, testified that Clinton was warned twice against using unsecure BlackBerry’s and personal emails to transmit classified material.

Dear Friend,
Please join with other Christians around our nation in prayer for Israel this month.
  • Pray for wisdom for Israels leaders. This tiny nation is literally surrounded by enemies — and the increasing threat of a nuclear Iran. Israel clearly needs the wisdom of God. “By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice” (Proverbs 8:15).
  • Pray for wisdom for MAGEN DAVID ADOM. The threat of war on multiple fronts —Hezbollah from the north, Hamas from the south, Iran/Syria from the west — means that Israel’s Red Cross organization must be ready for any eventuality. “The one who is wise saves lives” (Proverbs 11:30).
  • Pray the evil plans of Israels enemies will fail. The terrorist forces surrounding Israel share a common goal — they have all threatened to annihilate Israel and wipe out the Jewish people. “Do not grant the wicked their desires, Lord; do not let their plans succeed”
    (Psalm 140:8).
  • Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Since the first day 3,500 years ago when God’s chosen people entered the Promised Land, Israel has been an important part of God’s plans to bless the world. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels’”
    (Psalm 122:6-7).
The people of Israel are so grateful for your love, support, and prayers!

Schiff becomes key Democrat in battle with Trump

Trump has previously mocked the Intelligence chairman as “pencil-neck Adam Schiff,” a moniker his campaign turned into T-shirts.
Republicans piled on Schiff in March following the conclusion of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. Schiff had said on cable news that there was evidence of collusion “in plain sight”; the special counsel ultimately said he did not uncover sufficient evidence to charge members or associates of the Trump campaign with conspiring with Russia.
Those close to the White House and Trump’s campaign see Schiff as an easy target, claiming his past commentary on the Mueller probe has shown him to be a partisan.
“This is an effective hit because one thing that, I think, most people can see whenever they see Adam Schiff go on TV is just how transparently partisan he really is,” said one former White House official.
“This is the logical response for Pelosi deputizing Adam Schiff to be the face of her impeachment inquiry,” the former official continued.
Mieke Eoyang, a former House Intelligence staffer who worked with Schiff, argued that the president’s latest attacks show the White House sees Schiff as a threat.
“I think it is very clear to everyone that Chairman Schiff has been the most effective at building the case against the president through his questioning,” Eoyang said.
Eoyang also said she doesn’t expect Schiff to be “rattled” by the president’s attacks.
It was Schiff who first disclosed the existence of the nebulous whistleblower complaint on Sept. 13, issuing a subpoena to Maguire to turn over its contents to Congress.
Details about the complaint dealing with Ukraine began to leak out through the press the following week, though the administration continued to rebuff requests from Congress about it, arguing that it didn’t meet the legal definition of an “urgent concern” requiring disclosure to Capitol Hill.
Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry last Tuesday, and by Thursday the White House had released a rough transcript of the Zelensky call and allowed for the release of the whistleblower complaint to Congress and the public.
The partial transcript showed that Trump asked Zelensky to investigate unsubstantiated allegations about Biden as well as details about Russia’s 2016 election interference.
During opening remarks at the hearing with Maguire last week, Schiff dramatized his reading of the call, describing Trump as saying on the call that he would tell Zelensky “seven times” to “make up dirt on my political opponent,” which earned him criticism from Republicans. Schiff later termed the reading a “parody” of the call, something he said should have been obvious.
Rep. Jefferson Van Drew (D-N.J.), a freshman representing a competitive district, praised Schiff's overall handling of the hearing but acknowledged it would have been better to read directly from the primary source document, saying, "I think you should just state what it says, in my opinion."
But Van Drew said that the Intelligence Committee's hearing with Maguire was an improvement over the Judiciary Committee's chaotic and combative hearing with former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski a week before.
“I liked that it wasn't like the Lewandowski [hearing]. That was a very charged meeting, everybody was yelling at each other, demeaning each other. And it was both sides. It was everybody. I would rather see a methodical, careful approach to investigations,” Van Drew said.
Cristina Marcos contributed.
