WILL BILL’S NEXT BOOK BE CALLED “KILLING THE BIBLE”?

“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:7 (KJV)
For some reason, Bill O’Reilly has been on an anti-Christian rampage lately. He has already displayed his woeful ignorance of the Scriptures with his profit-motivated book and miniseries called “Killing Jesus”. Now he calls born again Christians “disturbing”.
If Bill knew anything about the bible, he would know where the expression to be “born again” first originated. In the third chapter of John, Jesus is talking to Nicodemus and he tells him this:
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 (KJV)
Bill mockingly states that “born again Christians believe that if you are not born again, you will go to Hell”. Well, guess what Bill? Jesus believes that, too, and that’s exactly what He told Nicodemus in the bible. But you would have to actually read the bible in order to know it’s in there, I guess.

      To be “Born Again” in the original language translates into English to return from where you came. After the fall in the Garden man was removed from where he came. Being “Born Again” is to renew that connection. Billy boy, you may have some explaining to do. How many have you unwittingly led astray with your paganism?

      Kristi, I watched “Killing Jesus”, and noted the fact that none of his miracles were shown, and some of the facts of his life were distorted. I truly believe that one should be born again to be accepted into heaven. However, it’s impossible to get this fact across to many, but unfortunately, they have to live with that situation.     Bill OReilly is Roman Catholic. They aren’t encouraged to read the Bible on their own, or interpret it on their own. A priest must interpret the Bible for them

    I never liked or trusted what Bill O’Reilly had to say anyway. The man is a Roman Catholic which explains a lot right there. With that in mind, I pay no heed to anything he has to say about spiritual issues, opinions, etc.

      Not only is the man way off base with his theological opinions but his arrogance is just too overbearing for me to tolerate. My friend absolutely couldn’t stand O’Reilly for that same reason. I wonder how many others were of the same mind.

    it’s true that all are born of adam/the flesh nature since adam sinned in the garden. romans chapter 5, romans 11:32, galations 3:22, 1st corinthians 15:21-22, ephesians 2 and others show that judgement came upon all men to condemnation through adams sin, which is why it’s true and Jesus said-a man must be born again, john 3.
    To remain born only of the flesh nature (and we’re not talking about the skin and bones of the tent of the body) is to be of the flesh and the flesh is contrary to God, romans 8:5-9, galation 5:16-25..
    And a person cannot walk in the Spirit unless they have the Holy Spirit, unless they are born again in Christ, 1st peter 1, john 1:12-13, john 3..none are born from their mothers womb a christian or having the Spirit of God or having faith either, there all gifts by the grace of God.

    What’s important to remember here is that Catholics are not Christians, and have never been Christians. Bill’s position is very typical of Roman Catholic teaching. There is no priest anywhere that teaches we must be born again according to John 3:3, because they don’t believe it. And you can’t teach something you don’t believe or understand. Bill’s statement that being born again “is a religion” reveals the ignorance of Scripture by the Catholic Church.
    I was a Catholic for 28 years before I got saved, went to 12 years of private Catholic school, and was an altar boy. Not once, ever, did any nun or priest in any class or church event I attended ever tell me about the command of Jesus Christ for me to become born again. Instead, I was told to “take communion” and “receive the body of Christ”. But that, unlike John 3:3, is not in the bible.

      People say that there are born-again believers who are Catholics, but I’ve always had trouble with that.
      The teachings are contradictory to each other!! Unless the Catholic person is wanting to evangelize those within that religion, I don’t understand at all how the person could hear heretical teaching, live with the Holy Spirit inside them, and feel peace.
      It is not my intention to be divisive or rude. My discernment goes off is all~~

      I listened to your clip 4 times along with another person. I then went to the entire interview on youtube. How on earth did you manage to find so many folks willing to hear something that was not there? He never made that comparison. You know nothing about Catholicism nor Christianity in general. You will have to repeat your entire Catholic education. Let’s see if they can’t fix your communication skills, and perhaps teach you to tell the truth. What shameful garbage you have posted on this page ! People who commented: please go to youtube and listen for yourself. I know how people LOVE to bash Catholics.         I was raised Catholic and was also an altar boy, until I read the truth in God’s Word at the age of 18. My eyes were opened and in utter shock and disbelief cried “I’ve been lied to all these years!” Yes I was lied to by the deceptive, erroneous Catholic Church. Lied to when told: 1. If your good deeds outweigh your bad deeds you’ll be granted entrance into heaven. 2. Infant baptism cleanses original sin. 3. Confessing your sins to a priest and repeating several Our Fathers and Hail Marys will get your sins absolved. 4. Being taught about the Christ denying purgatory. Shall I continue? Yes, I was lied to!!!! And many continue to be lied to by that demonic institution. Thank God someone shared the true Gospel with me!!

    Minor note to the Author: The concept of born again originates even earlier in John then ch 3. It actually is one of the main points listed in ch 1 for why the Word (Jesus) became flesh.
    I am specifically referring to John ch 1 verse 12 and 13.
    12 But as many received him, to them he gave power to become sons of God even to them that believe on his name.
    13 Which were born, not of blood or the will of flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God
    While it does not say the words born again what verse 12 13 is describing is being born again.
    The shaming of being born again which is the central concept of being a christian being shunned by people who profess to be Christians is very sad and a very big error indeed.

    Actually, the concept of “being born again” is important, because in this day and age Americans are under the mistaken notion that they are Christians just because they “believe in God,” which demons believe also, and tremble. (Its just like the Jews thought that they were saved because were descendants of Abraham). But no, “Christian” means “of Christ”, or being Christ’s, and these people who mock Jesus or His word definitely are not His. That’s why being born again is important, because that means people have actually repented and claimed Christ, and in return Christ claims them. There is some sort of stigma attached to “born again” that people just don’t want to be associated with, which I guess they associate it with fanaticism, just like O’Reilly does.

    Yes Wendy, it’s ok if your Spider-sense goes off concerning Catholics, because hey, just like any other heretical religion, if there is a sect that is not (that) heretical, you still have the association with the heretical name. So, even if some Catholics are born again, and want to retain the Catholic ways, it’s kind of like when the Jews that were born again and wanted to live by grace AND live by the law. So I see where you’re coming from.

      It is true that some so called born again believers think to highly of themselves and Look down on the unsaved, usually they are believers who are still being milk fed or just plane not born again, never having truly repented of their sins,but feeling that they are saved because they professed Jesus with their lips but their lives do not line up. Talk no walk. In most churches they stir up trouble pointing their fingers at everyone else.
      God is preparing his bride, keep the oil in your lamp burning. Be wise, not like the foolish virgins who ran to find the holy spirit,I.e. oil, after they saw the groom come for his bride. He is now raising up or should I say waking up many intersessers, in this way God will again have one last great revival. Be a part of it, be a fellow labour in Christ. Love your neighbor pray for those who spitefully use you. Spend time in group prayer allow your heart to be burdened to the point of sorrow for the lost and forsaken.     I was a few chapters into his book, started watching the movie last Sunday and 10 minutes into it I turned it off. The Holy Spirit told me this movie is not right.     Ok, to those that are spouting off saying that born again Christians are flaunting their born again title and being condescending towards other believers and non-believers because of it, if that’s happening, they’re flaunting their salvation, period. Not the title. So if you’re saved Christian, you’re born again. The born again title bears no shame. If someone is flaunting their salvation, it’s because of sin, not because they’re proud of the words, “born again.” If you’re born again, don’t flaunt it, but don’t hide it either.

      And the actual words “Born Again” translates from the original text into english from the words meaning “back to where you came from”. Makes sense does it not. After the “fall” man lost a connection with his creator. He was cast out. With the Salvation of Yashua, we are reconnected, or “Born Again”. ORielly is a catholic. They have their own bible. They actually are not supposed to understand the Bible on their own. That’s for the catholic priesthood to decifer. Hmmmm. Cult anyone?

    Well, there’s nothing wrong with being born again. You have a problem with the concept as O’Reilly does…no offense…but Jesus himself tells Nicodemus that “you must be born again.” It’s not presupposing at all. Born again means having your spirit reborn, to fellowship with God. Nothing mystical or overly holy. Our spirits were born dead because of Adam and Even, and being saved, or “born again,” our spirits are regenerated and we then have the divine nature as spoken about in 2 Peter 1:4 “being partakers of the divine nature…) Your saying we can’t be born again until we’re resurrected is being nearsighted and doing the same as Catholics saying that saints are created by the Catholic church instead of at the time of salvation. So I think you need to rethink your theology there. Most of what you say is pretty sound, but this, while not crucial doctrine is still misinterpreting scripture.

      Let us not forget that somebody can SAY they’re “Born Again”, but it’s the status of HOW they live their lives that proves it!
      a A person who is rude, contentious and slanders others routinely (verses seeking to warn someone about a false teacher, for example) along with the list of bad behaviors and attitudes mentioned in Galatians 5 may be self-deceived if they feel like they are saved. This is considered by Jesus to be “works of the flesh”. A true, Biblically-defined Christian doesn’t embrace these characteristics on a routine basis.
      Also in Galatians 5 is a listing of the Fruits of the Spirit:
      Love
      Joy
      Peace
      Patience
      Kindness
      Goodness
      Faithfulness
      And self-control.
      If you believe that you are indeed Born by the Holy Spirit, then THIS should be how you live your life! These virtues should flow freely from you, as Living Water. We are to build people UP, not tear them down.
      And, of course, those wonderful characteristics come from the heart and mind that has been made new by God.
      They do not “earn” you heaven.

    Thanks Jeff, for clarifying the term born again. Lance is a good guy, but seems to have a problem with the terminology. John says that as many as received Him, to them he gave the power to become sons of God…who were…born of God. That’s all I’m gonna say on that. Be saved, be happy.

    I have never liked Bill O’Reilly and could never stand to watch him. I think it was the Holy Spirit revealing to me that this man is no friend of Jesus Christ. I am not surprised at anything he would say. He is just another blasphemous heathen among millions more just like him. I feel sorry for those like him who have nothing better to do than to blaspheme Jesus’s name.

    Here’s the God’s honest truth people, we are all sinners, and because of that we all deserve to go to Hell, to suffer eternal damnation apart from God, that is our fate once we die! Yet, in His goodness, in His grace and mercy, God came down to Earth as a man, in the form of Jesus Christ, and He flipped the world upside-down. Jesus came to this world to save us from sin, and by sacrificing Himself on a cross, He took on our curse, our sin, and allowed the wrath of God Himself to be thrust upon Him as He died for the world. But, after three days, He returned from the grave victorious, conquering death! And when He ascended, He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within His church, so that we would never be alone, even when we’re standing alone. This is the good news of the Gospel, this is the HOPE we as believers look towards for salvation, peace, and truth.
    When Jesus said that He was the ONLY way to God, to Heaven, He was telling the truth. If we don’t choose to believe in Christ as our Lord and Savior, if we don’t turn from our wickedness and move to follow Him, if we don’t renounce this world and live for His glory, if we don’t put our faith and trust in Jesus alone we will suffer that same wrath that He suffered on the cross, but in Hell, away from God’s mercy, for eternity

      Correction: The greatest deception Satan ever committed that we know of was telling Eve that if she and Adam ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil they would then be like God. His greatest deception has always been to say that we don’t need God and that we can become God.
      I wish I could make sense of the rest of what you are saying but its lack of explanation of the point you are trying to make mixed with it being all in caps makes it really hard to read and understand.

    This mouthy upstart Bill O’Reilly couldn’t really have Irish blood could he ? I would be ashamed to call such as him my kinsman. To say the bible is not historically true or accurate are the words of an ignorant fool. He is either that, or his soul is owned…bought and paid for.
    The adversary will collect !You have one opportunity O’Reilly…. There is still time to repent. I strongly urge you to alter your heart, while you still can. We will all answer to our creator.
