Jerusalem has always stood at the forefront of Jewish consciousness.
Synagogues are all built facing Israel so that wherever a Jew prays, the
direction of prayer is towards Jerusalem. When building a new home, it is
customary to leave an unfinished square in order to remember the destruction of
the Temple in Jerusalem. And at the conclusion of every Yom Kippur and Passover
Seder, Jews declare, “Next year in Jerusalem!” The Temple Mount Heritage
Foundation brings awareness of the significance of Jerusalem and the Temple
Mount, the place of God's "resting place forever." It is here in God's dwelling
place that peace will one day emanate to all the nations of the world.
