Miranda Lambert Doing What Most Singers Can’t - Keeping Politics Out of Music

Country star Miranda Lambert has vowed to keep politics out of her music and concerts, according to a new interview with Billboard.
"I am a 100 percent believer in not ever using the platform that I've built for anything other than music, because music to me is an escape from your own reality," Lambert said. "I don't want to go to a show and hear somebody preach about their opinions."
Lambert said doing so doesn’t do anyone any good:
"And what are you winning? For someone to agree with you, and now you’ve spoken your piece and pissed off many other people, just for one person to go, 'She's right'? It doesn't do any good."
“I'm not going to try to fit in," Lambert added. "But I'm not trying to be an outlaw — I'm just trying to do me. And if that's carving my own path or making my own lane, then I'll do that."
This philosophy is right in line with what Kiss frontman Gene Simmons said just after President Trump’s election: “I think celebrities should basically shut their pie hole and do what they do best: act, sing, tap-dance, juggle balls, and do all that kind of stuff. And then do what an informed citizen does: draw the curtain, vote your conscience, go in there and vote.”
