Video from Germany: “Southerner” goes on knife rampage, seriously injuring three, cops search for motive
The tweet below says: “After the #knife attack with several injured people in #Ravensburg, the police arrested a southerner. The man had stormed into Marienplatz without warning and had indiscriminately stabbed passers-by.”
From the looks of this “Southerner,” they don’t mean Alabama.

As for the motive: the Islamic State issued this call in September 2014:

Nach der #Messerattacke mit mehreren Verletzten in #Ravensburg konnte die Polizei einen Südländer festnehmen. Der Mann war ohne Vorwarnung auf den Marienplatz gestürmt und hatte wahllos auf Passanten eingestochen.

A man seriously injured three people with a knife in the center of Ravensburg in the Lake Constance region. One remains in mortal danger. The attacker was caught after the incident on Friday. The injured were taken to a hospital.The investigators are focused upon a single perpetrator. His motive was initially unknown. “For now, do not assume a terrorist background. There is currently no evidence,” said a police spokesman.The attack had therefore occurred on the Marienplatz. One of the injured was found about 50 meters away from the other two, according to the police. At first, it was unclear whether he was attacked or possibly injured.According to the police in Ravensburg all available officials had rushed to the scene. The criminal police initially secured traces in the early evening. Neither age nor origin of the participants were initially known. The attacker should have been a younger man.
