Although it’s sad for many to see her go, the day has finally come for White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders to say goodbye to Washington D.C. and start another chapter in her life.
As reported by Western Journal:
Outgoing White House press secretary Sarah Sanders had some heartwarming words of farewell Friday before she walked out of the White House for the final time.President Donald Trump announced earlier this month that Sanders, who took over as White House press secretary in July 2017, would be stepping down from her post at the end of the month.
You can see her words of farewell in her tweet below:
“Today I’ll walk out the gates of the White House for the last time as Press Secretary with my head held high. It’s ben the honor and privilege of a lifetime to work with President @realDonaldTrump and his amazing team the last three and a half years. Your’e the best…Thank you!”
Some departures are more difficult than others to deal with, but it appears as though Sanders’ departure will be particularly hard for the President, as evidenced by the glowing words he gave after she had announced her leave:
PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP: I thought maybe I just take a moment. So, at the White House, and been with me now three and a half years before I won, before the election, is a person, a friend, a woman, a great, great, magnificent person actually named Sarah Huckabee Sanders. And she’s very popular. She’s very popular.(APPLAUSE)And she’s done an incredible job. We’ve been through a lot together. And she’s tough but she’s good. You know, you also have tough and bad, right? She’s tough and she’s good. She’s great.
And she’s going to be leaving the service of her country, and she is going to be going, I guess you could say, private sector, but I hope she’s going to–she comes from a great state, Arkansas. That was the state I won by a lot, so I like it, right?(LAUGHTER)But we love Arkansas. And she’s going to be going back to Arkansas with her great family, her husband, who’s a fantastic guy, and her family. And I don’t know, Phil and folks, if we can get her to run for the governor of Arkansas. I think she’ll do very well. And I–I’m trying to get her to do that.
That’s HIGH praise when the President of the United States gives you not only his blessing, but his strong endorsement to be a governor.
Now all eyes are on incoming Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham to see if she’ll be able to adequately fill the shoes of Sanders.
All though some may doubt how well she’ll do, she’s already proven herself, as it’s been reported that she’s already had a “scuffle” with North Korean security guards who were trying to block a U.S. journalist from getting an up close shot of an historic moment with President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
In the tweet below, you can see Grisham pushing her way through the security guards, allowing the journalists through who were being detained.
Here’s the video from the perspective of the American journalists:
“This is the moment White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham got into a scuffle with North Korean security guards who were blocking US journalists”
So, after watching her in action, I’d say she’s going to do just fine.
