A polish cardinal is claiming the Vatican never withheld information from Pope St. John Paul II regarding clergy sex abuse. Church Militant's William Mahoney has more on the polish pope's former secretary.

The cardinal archbishop emeritus of Krakow is denying cover-up ever occurred on his watch, contradicting reports the prelate protected at least two notorious homosexual predators in the Church.

In an interview published last Friday in Polish newspaper Dziennik Polski, Cdl. Stanisław Dziwisz peddled the jab as an "imperative of conscience," and then discussed the Holy See's handling of clergy sex abuse.

Dziwisz avowed Vatican offices never blocked information from the pope.

Dziwisz claimed the Secretariat of State directly cooperated with the pope in settling all matters, adding anybody who accuses the Vatican of neglect is ignorant of how the Holy See operates.

But whistleblower Abp. Carlo Maria Viganò and others have told a different story.

Under John Paul II, then-secretary of state Cdl. Angelo Sodano and Dziwisz, were the biggest protectors in the Vatican of disgraced pedophile Marcial Maciel, the founder of the Legionaries of Christ and disgraced ex-cardinal Theodore McCarrick.

Sodano and Dziwisz shielded Maciel amid a torrent of revelations on his degenerate lifestyle and rampant pedophilia, which even included preying on children he secretly fathered.

Dziwisz also aided McCarrick in his ecclesiastical rise to power.

In fact, James Grein, McCarrick's victim who blew the lid off his predation, confirmed with Church Militant on Tuesday that Dziwisz was even receiving large donations from McCarrick regularly.

Dziwisz helped the defrocked pederast become archbishop of Washington, personally contacting the Congregation for Bishops on McCarrick's behalf.

In the interview, Dziwisz claimed it hurt him to hear allegations of cover-up, but that he forgives those leveling the charges.

As Church Militant reported in 2018, Dziwisz would arrange for people to see John Paul II for about $3,000.
