Tipping Point Saturday Seven (12.30.23)"I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert"Happy New Year! As we enter 2024, I want all of you to know this: I love writing and thinking about Bible prophecy, and I am grateful how you have embraced this site. Your support has helped create a space for us to consider current events in light of what the Bible says about the end times. I hope the content we bring you every week blesses, informs and encourages you. 1. Wisdom from ScriptureBehold, I will do a new thing, 2. Quote to Consider“I love people and want to help them in the best way I possibly can. That is why I want you to know the truth about the return of the Lord. That is the reason I continue to teach and preach about it. It is central to the Good News God wants people to hear, so I want people to hear it too. I believe what the Bible says about the end times and the return of Christ. I believe the Good News is exceptionally good news to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose (see Romans 8:28). It is for our comfort, not for our terror.” [from my book Look Up!] 3. Pay Attention to This NewsAfter announcing last week an international task force of nations in response to Yemen’s Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping, some of President Joe Biden’s allies now appear to be distancing themselves from the maritime coalition. The United States said 20 nations had agreed to protect shipping routes, but only 12 have been named so far. And two European allies, Spain and Italy, are showing reluctance to get involved due to their citizens’ widespread criticism of Israel’s offensive in Gaza. “European governments are very worried that part of their potential electorate will turn against them,” one international relations professor explained in Spain. 4. Comment of the Week“In light of what we are learning at Tipping Point about the End Times, this is comforting despite all that is going on right now in the world. We are living history, and not just history, the biblical history. We are reminded that our faith matters, how it is important that our faith must be connected to God’s prophecies about Israel, and what we do with this faith matters in the kingdom of God right now.” —Tipping Point subscriber Linh in the comments after Mark Hitchcock’s “Marking the End Times” video on Thursday. 5. Definition of the Week: AmenAmen: As a Christian, you probably hear the word “Amen” used at the end of prayers, but its meaning goes far beyond a closing phrase. The word comes a Hebrew language foot word that means “to be faithful” or “to be certain.” In context, using the word at the end of a prayer is an expression of faith and trust. It signifies ending with a phrase like “so be it” or “let it be done.” The word “amen” is found more than 75 times across the Old and New Testaments. Notably, “amen” is the final word in the Bible:
6. Link of the WeekA new brain-machine interface developed by researchers at Caltech promises to enable paralyzed people to move prothetic devices using their thoughts—but without invasive brain surgery. With no impact on brain tissue, the technique uses functional ultrasound to read brain activity using decoders programmed with machine learning. The artificial intelligence “controls a computer that can accurately predict movement with very minimal delay time.” Ultrasound is commonly used for diagnostic imaging and works by emitting pulses of high-frequency sound and measuring how those vibrations move through a body. 7.
