The Georgia case against Donald Trump is about to collapse. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been disqualified from the so-called “election interference case” for sleeping with her fellow prosecutor. Everyone knows charging Trump for simply questioning the integrity of the election was politically motivated. The only purpose was to prevent him from being elected and it didn’t work. What’s the point of carrying on the persecution now?
Georgia case ‘complicated’
It seems that the bogus election interference case against President Donald Trump in Georgia has a fatal dose of complication. District Attorney Fani Willis has been disqualified.
As The Hill reports, “though the charges have not been formally dismissed, a state appeals court’s decision Thursday to boot Willis and her office muddies the path forward already complicated by Trump’s imminent return to the White House.”
Now that Trump has firmly re-established his role as leader of the free world, his liberal enemies are running for cover. The judge’s decision has Democrats throwing fits. According to Georgia State University law professor Michael Kreis, “this is complete and total omnishambles because the avenues going forward pretty much look like this case is dead.”
There remains a slim chance of bringing it back to life, which will take a miracle. “There are a few different ways that it could get resurrected. But it’s never looked more bleak.” God prefers conservatives.
You can thank the Georgia Court of Appeals for ruling 2-1 “that Willis’s once-romantic relationship with Nathan Wade, a top prosecutor on the case, amounted to a significant appearance of impropriety that compelled the district attorney’s office’s disqualification.”
The lower court had ruled that “Willis could continue prosecuting Trump if Wade stepped aside, which he did.” That wasn’t good enough.

Not over yet
The decision in Georgia is legally rare. As noted by Atlanta-based trial attorney Chris Timmons, “this is stuff that we don’t see every day.” It’s unusual because the court doesn’t typically need to get dragged into these conflict of interest matters.
“I think it’s really unusual to see the Court of Appeals disqualify the DA’s office. That just doesn’t happen. I mean, usually, the DA’s office disqualifies themselves.” Not Fani Willis.
She’s so furious with the Court of Appeals that she promises to take it all the way to the Georgia Supreme Court. They aren’t as conservative as SCOTUS but they still lean to the right.
“That court, which is controlled by justices appointed by Republican governors, would have to first decide whether to take up the appeal.” That’s not likely. “The chances are not great that the case proceeds, but there’s still a chance,” Timmons relates. Someday, pigs will fly and Satan will ice skate to work, too.
Law Professor Kreis is doing his best to prepare Democrats for the shock.
“If the Supreme Court of Georgia refuses to take this up, then I think we’re pretty much end of story here. If they take it up, there’s a good chance that they might say the appellate court was wrong and Judge McAfee’s decision stands — in which case we go back to Fani Willis.” But, don’t hold your breath.
