Roger Waters: 'National Trumpism' Just Like Hitler's 'National Socialism' "It’s just as dangerous."

Roger Waters: 'National Trumpism' Just Like Hitler's 'National Socialism'

"It’s just as dangerous."

Pink Floyd co-founder and all-around anti-Israel enthusiast Roger Waters added yet another Trump/Hitler comparison to an already overstuffed pile. Rather disappointing coming from a guy responsible for one of the finest rock albums of all time.
In an interview on WTF With Marc Maron earlier this week, Waters exclaimed that although "National Trumpism" may be less insidious than the Third Reich, it poses the same danger.
"It was insidious in Germany in the 30s when National Socialism came," Rogers said. "And National Trumpism feels a bit less insidious, but it’s just as dangerous."
Just like Hitler did to the Jews, Waters believes Trump will eventually create a "totalitarian police state" against America's minorities, which will eventually lead to their disenfranchisement. Coming from Waters, the man now imploring music group The Chemical Brothers to cancel their upcoming show in Israel because of so-called "apartheid" against the Palestinians – not to mention his placing a Star of David on an inflatable pig for several concerts – this accusation feels wildly hypocritical.
Note to Waters: Palestinians and Islamists allied with Hitler during WWII.
"The method for taking over the state and for it becoming a totalitarian police state, is always the same, and it’s always the identification of ‘the other’ as the enemy. In Trump’s case, it’s the Chinese, the Mexicans, and Islam – it doesn’t matter who it is," Waters said. "With Hitler, it was the Jews, the Communists, the Gypsies, anybody who had a physical deformity, or whatever it might be, the homosexuals – they were all lumped together."
"What you have in the States now is everybody’s standard of living is falling, like a freefall, and also where the freedoms that are enshrined in your Constitution and in the Bill of Rights are being slowly eroded and taken away from you," he concluded.
No argument there, but how is Trump responsible for that?
During a performance at Desert Trip in Indio, California, last month, Waters featured images of Trump in a KKK hood, holding a Nazi salute, and holding a giant sex toy like a rifle. The infamous inflatable pig made another appearance as well, this time with the phrases "F–ck Trump and his wall" and "Arrogant, lying, racist, sexist" replacing the Star of David. Such subtle artistry.
