Trump Says 'Senate Rules,' Hysterical Left Hears 'Constitution'

Trump Says 'Senate Rules,' Hysterical Left Hears 'Constitution'

The Left can't even be trusted to hear what the President says.

Recently, President Donald Trump was interviewed by Fox News' Martha MacCallum and discussed his "First Hundred Days in Office." The leftwing media heard only what it wanted to hear, which is that Trump wants to dump the U.S. Constitution.
The transcript below has a part of Trump's exchange with MacCallum:
TRUMP: I understand what has to be done, I get things done I've always been a closer. We don't have a lot of closers in politics and I understand why. It's a very rough system, it's an archaic system. You look at the rules of the Senate, even the rules of the House, but the rule of the Senate and some of the things you have to go through, it's really a bad thing for the country in my opinion.
There are archaic rules and maybe at some point, we're going to have to take those rules on because for the good of the nation things are going to have to be different. You can't go through a process like this. It's not fair, it forces you to make bad decisions. I mean, if you're forced into doing things that you would normally not do except for these archaic rules, so --
MacCALLUM: Like what, how would you change them?
TRUMP: Well, you know, you look at the voting and you look at the filibuster system. And it used to be... You know, I always thought of filibuster where you stand up and you talk all day and then somebody else--
MacCALLUM: You don't have to do that anymore.
TRUMP: No, you don't have to do it anymore. Today you say filibuster, guys sit home and they watch television or whatever they do. I think, you know, the filibuster concept is not a good concept to start off with but if you're going to filibuster, let somebody stand up for 20 hours and talk and do what they have to do or even if they are reading comic books to everybody, let them do it, but honestly, the whole... with so many bad concepts in our rules and it's forcing bad decisions. I really see. I see just -- I've seen this -- I've seen it over the years where bad decisions are made, decisions that nobody wanted are made because of archaic rules and that's something that I think we're going to have to change.
But the Independent reported on this interview quite differently from what actually occurred, with the headline, "Donald Trump slams 'archaic' US constitution that is 'really bad' for the country. The article begins, "Donald Trump has blamed the US constitution for the problems he has encountered during his first 100 days in office. In an interview with Fox News to mark the milestone, the Republican called the system of checks and balances on power 'archaic.'  'It’s a very rough system,' he said. 'It’s an archaic system … It’s really a bad thing for the country.'"
Also, the leftwing Guardian got in on the misrepresentation with this headline:" Donald Trump blames constitution for chaos of his first 100 days."
Wait, what? Did we see the same interview? Charlie Martin of PJ Media blames this on the Trump Trance Effect, which he defines as "Trump says something, and people decide he said something else, even -- by careful manipulation of context and straight out misquotation -- apparently quote him as saying something else."
Especially considering that it is the left, not President Trump, who resents Constitutional restrictions, the media's hypocrisy knows no bounds. However, what's worse than the fact that they misrepresent what he says is the fact that they might not even realize -- or care -- that they're doing it.

Prager U: Why Isn't Communism asHated as Nazism? Dennis Prager on communism's horrific legacy. 5.2.2017 News Truth Revolt 11

Prager U: Why Isn't Communism asHated as Nazism?

Dennis Prager on communism's horrific legacy.

76
When people think of humanity's greatest evils, why is "communism" rarely mentioned? After all, it has caused more suffering than any other ideology, including Nazism. Watch Dennis Prager's account of communism's horrific legacy in this new video from Prager University.
Transcript:
When people describe particularly evil individuals or regimes, why is it that they use the terms “Nazi” or “fascist,” but almost never “communist?” Given the unparalleled amount of human suffering communists have caused, why is “communist” so much less a term of revulsion than “Nazi?”
Communists killed 70 million people in China, more than 20 million people in the Soviet Union (not including about 5 million Ukrainians), and almost one out of every three Cambodians. And communists enslaved entire nations in Russia, Vietnam, China, Eastern Europe, North Korea, Cuba and much of Central Asia. They ruined the lives of well over a billion people. So, why doesn’t communism have the same terrible reputation as Nazism?
Reason Number 1: There is, simply put, widespread ignorance of the communist record. Whereas both right and left loathe Nazism and teach its evil history, the left – and I’m talking about the left, not traditional liberals like Harry Truman or John F. Kennedy – has never loathed communism.  And since the left dominates academia, almost no one teaches communism’s evil history.
Reason Number 2: The Nazis carried out the Holocaust. Nothing matches the Holocaust for pure evil. The rounding up of virtually every Jewish man, woman, child, and baby on the European continent and sending them to die is unprecedented and unparalleled. The communists killed far more people than the Nazis, but never matched the Holocaust in the systemization of genocide. The uniqueness of the Holocaust and the enormous attention rightly paid to it have helped ensure that Nazism has a worse name than communism.
Reason Number 3: Communism is based on nice sounding theories; Nazism isn’t. It’s based on heinous sounding theories. Intellectuals in general – including, of course, the intellectuals who write history – are seduced by words – so much so, that they deem actions as less significant than words.  For that reason, they haven’t focused nearly as much attention on the horrific actions of communists as they have on the horrific actions of the Nazis. They dismiss the evils of communists as perversions of “true communism.” But they regard Nazi atrocities (correctly) as the logical and inevitable results of Nazism.
Reason Number 4: Germans have thoroughly exposed the evils of Nazism, have taken responsibility for them, and have attempted to atone for them. Russians have not done anything similar regarding Lenin's or Stalin's horrors. To the contrary, Lenin, the father of Soviet communism, is still widely venerated in Russia. And as regards Stalin, as University of London Russian historian Donald Rayfield puts it, “People still deny, by assertion or implication, Stalin's holocaust.” Even less so has China exposed the greatest mass murderer and enslaver of them all, Mao Zedong. Mao remains revered in China. Every Chinese currency note has his picture on it. Until Russia and China – and Vietnam, and Cuba, and North Korea – acknowledge the evils their countries committed under communism, communism's evils will remain less known than the evils of the German state under Hitler.
Reason Number 5: Communists murdered mostly their own people. The Nazis, on the other hand, killed very few fellow Germans. “World opinion” – that largely meaningless and amoral term – deems the murder of members of one's own group far less noteworthy than the murder of outsiders. That’s why, for example, blacks killing millions of fellow blacks in Africa elicits almost no attention from “world opinion.”
And Reason Number 6: In the view of the left, the last “good war” was World War II, the war against German Nazism and Japanese fascism. The left does not regard wars against communist regimes as “good wars.” For example, the American war against Vietnamese communism is regarded as immoral, and the war against Korean communism – and its Chinese communist backers – is simply ignored.
Until the left, and all the institutions influenced by the left, acknowledge how evil communism has been, we will continue to live in a morally confused world.
In the meantime, all good people owe it to the victims of communism to learn what happened to them. Even worse than being murdered or enslaved is a world that doesn’t even know that you were.
I’m Dennis Prager.

The Left Slams the NRA’s Program Even Though It Took Pains to Keep Kids Away from Guns

The Left Slams the NRA’s Program Even Though It Took Pains to Keep Kids Away from Guns

Shouldn't we all agree on this?

The National Rifle Association held its yearly meeting this Friday in Atlanta, an event which got a lot of attention because President Trump actually spoke at the controversial conference. Former White Sox first baseman Adam LaRoche also was a featured speaker, and he told a story about his son during the meeting aimed at pro-gun enthusiasts:
LaRoche talked about the importance of fatherhood, his joy in teaching his son hunting, and his work with charities fighting sex trafficking. His remarks concluded, Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, gave father and son gifts on behalf of the organization, a pair of Daniel Defense AR-15 rifles with suppressors. Cox made a quick joke about how the gift of the gun to the younger LaRoche was just to annoy the media, and there was a knowing chuckle throughout the crowd.
Most Americans don't want to see young children handling firearms, especially after all of the school shootings that have happened across the nation. The NRA convention was sensitive to this, so they removed the firing pins from all firearms. In other words, the weapons that were on display didn't work and couldn't be fired. However, the press seemed to want to take photos of children who were picking up the (inoperable) firearms to get a feel for them. Jim Geraghty reports:
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation offered a photo essay of the convention’s kids last year. Politico, MSNBC, and the Houston Chronicle all featured images of children holding guns — perfectly accurate photojournalism, but an image that no doubt was selected to stir a particular emotional response.
They weren't alone. According to NRO, "The New York Daily News featured a wide selection of these shots in 2013, denouncing the organization’s 'Youth Day' as 'sick' and quoting one activist: 'They shouldn’t be teaching kids how to use guns. What happens when they get older? They might become like that Connecticut killer.'"
Of course, this is questionable logic. According to a recent report by the Crime Prevention Research Center, called, “Concealed Carry Permit Holders Across The United States 2016, gun owners are one of the most respectable, law abiding segments of American society:
The data revealed that from 2005 to 2007, “there were 103 crimes per 100,000 police officers,” while the U.S. population’s crime rate is 37 times that number.
Permit holders are convicted of felonies and misdemeanors at less than a sixth of the rate of police officers, according to the study. Officers also commit firearm violations, 16.5 per 100,000, seven times more frequently than permit holders, at only 2.4 per 100,000 in Texas and Florida.
It goes without saying that the press is fixated on trying to find the NRA convention as disturbing as possible... and no facts can convince them otherwise.
