You’re Going to Need The Strength
Yesterday I told you about David encouraging himself in the Lord. But that got me thinking about something. Can you point me to any believer who is completely sold-out to Jesus, who has an easy, trouble-free life? If you show me a Spirit-led, God-filled, anointed servant of the Lord, and I will show you someone who has been chased, chastened, often baffled, and familiar with deep waters and fiery furnaces.
If you are going to try to avoid difficulties, I doubt you will receive many revelations of our Father’s fullness. If you attempt to use your faith to exempt yourself from a crisis, you are robbing yourself of the greatest opportunity to find out what you are really made of. It is like a prize fighter avoiding any more bouts so that he can maintain his title. If that is how you wish to journey your life of faith, a day will come when trouble can no longer be avoided, and you will cave because you have no proven source of inner strength.
Paul wrote, “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being” (Ephesians 3:16). If you continually seek a peaceful-trouble free life, you will never know if that inner strength is there. Oh, you can confess it, and say you have it, but have you been tested and tried, where you had to prove it was there?
There are days coming when the Lord will need Christians who devoted and not tossed around by every wind and wave of doctrine. He will need disciples who possess discernment and are not being deceived. These believers do not need a special teacher with some new revelation to guide their every step. They will have been tested and tried and have proven that the very life of Yahweh is in them, providing grace and mercy to help in every need. Christ has been revealed not only to them, but in them. They are drawing on the strength of their inner man, according to the riches of His glory.
We can learn valuable lessons from what we read yesterday about King David’s experience at Ziklag, when it said, “David encouraged himself in the Lord” (I Samuel 30:6). It is imperative that we learn to encourage ourselves in the Lord because of the troubled times ahead.
Friends, I plead with you in the name of the Lord to open your eyes to the mighty power of YHWH at work in you and to appropriate the fullness and completeness of the Lord Jesus Christ. No matter what fiery furnace we may be tossed into, our Supreme Lord will walk us through it. I plead with you in the name of the Lord, to open your eyes to the mighty power of our Father at work in you, and to appropriate the fullness and completeness of the Lord Jesus Christ. Don’t stay in a position of weakness and despair. Stand strong in HIS might, wisdom and power!
