ATHEISTS CREATE NEW TOP TEN NON-COMMANDMENTS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

 | December 22, 2014

“FOR THE WISDOM OF THIS WORLD IS FOOLISHNESS WITH GOD”

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.” Psalm 14:1
The website ATHEIST MIND HUMAN HEART recently held a contest for their followers to create a new atheist version of the Ten Commandments from the bible. People from 18 countries and 27 states submitted 2,804 entries with 6,168 votes cast for the winners.

The panel of judges was comprised of prominent atheists, LGBT members, humanists and authors. Below is the list of winning entries that now constitute the Atheist 10 Non-Commandments. And just for fun, after each one we added a bible verse that shows you what God thinks about their choices.
THE ATHEISTS 10 NON-COMMANDMENTS
  • Be open minded and be willing to alter your beliefs with new evidence. “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 2:16
  • Strive to understand what is most likely to be true, not to believe what you wish to be true. “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” 1 Corinthians 1:21
  • The scientific method is the most reliable way of understanding the natural world. “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane andvain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:” 1 Timothy 6:20
  • Every person has the right to control over their body. “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:19
  • God is not necessary to be a good person or to live a full and meaningful life. “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”2 Corinthians 4:4
  • Be mindful of the consequences of all your actions and recognise that you must take responsibility for them. “But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.” Numbers 32:23
  • Treat others as you would want them to treat you and can reasonably expect them to want to be treated. Think about their perspective. “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” John 13:34
  • We have the responsibility to consider others including future generations. There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance ofthings that are to come with those that shall come after.” Ecclesiastes 1:11
  • There is no one right way to live. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12
  • Leave the world a better place than you found it. “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10

  1. Glenda Thornton says:
I think there is one right way to live. I've lived without God in my life and now with God in my life. When I look at before I see that I was just floundering along trying to do the best I could, but not really succeeding. God is alive and works in my life helping and teaching me the right way to live. :-)
  2. Amy says:
Sure wish you “spelled” God with a capital G.
    • watchman48 says:
Amy – Are you speaking of a capital “G” in this sentence? [“In whom the god of this world] The god of this world is satan and we never capitalize god when we are speaking of him… Some might call him the prince of this world which I do prefer.
  3. George Haney says:
cool! I think it is awesome and God really doesn't care what you believe—NOT!!
It makes all the difference for now and eternity what a person believes.
  4. Jerry Saylor says:
Using scripture and twisting it to fit your own views and beliefs does not make it true. Scripture is just as it says and use it in context to get the meaning.
  5. NutFreeZone says:
Perhaps I have misunderstood but shall I assume that you people don’t agree with ANY of these “commandments”? Even the last five?
I am just trying to wrap my head around what could possibly be so offensive about:
“Strive to understand what is most likely to be true, not to believe what you wish to be true. ”
“Be mindful of the consequences of all your actions and recognise that you must take responsibility for them.”
“Treat others as you would want them to treat you and can reasonably expect them to want to be treated. Think about their perspective.”
“We have the responsibility to consider others including future generations.”
“Leave the world a better place than you found it. ”
I’m really at a loss at understanding why these are so offensive?
    Please enlighten me.
    • Susan says:
What is so offensive is that no person on the face of this earth can ever even hope to work out, under their own guidance or the guidance of other well meaning people or highly educated people, what is right or what is factual. NO PERSON can work it out – because only God knows what is right, what is factual, what is good. ONLY GOD. You are trying to be your own god. You reject the authority of God and replace it with your own authority because you think you can do it on your own. You don’t need God, you will be your own god, you think. You can’t! It doesn’t work! God created you. He is so far above you that I cannot describe the depths you are in.
    • carson says:
Because it all sprouts from a walk without Christ and the Father.
Sure living with morals is good, but doesn’t gain eternity, Christ is that way truth life.
Only having Christ’s righteousness not a righteousness of our own.
a person may think to themselves, I do that, I treat others well..and go onward thinking they’ve arrived, worthy of heaven and acceptable to God (a righteousness of their own)..and suffer terribly, so it ought to be exposed for what it is, wrong since they exclude the truth of Christ and all what God did in sending Him in their #5 command.
The magnitude of what God did in sending His Son can’t be taken lightly also can’t be replaced with some good deeds on our part, if good deeds merited eternity then why send Christ anyway?..God sending His Son shows the entirely dire straights mankind is in since adam sinned and sin entered the world, if there was some other way or many way’s God wouldn’t have gone to the extent that He did.
But meanwhile, those in Christ do the golden rule too..except it’s from faith in Christ and faith is a gift from God which causes those works so it’s that gift/faith that saves, grace. Life is found only in Christ, to stress the golden rule (as if those who follow Christ don’t already do that) yet leave out Christ and salvation and tons more..of what use is it, gain the whole world and walk as the most moral person alive and still lose one’s soul being outside of Christ/thinking to have one’s own righteousness.

1“Strive to understand what is most likely to be true, not to believe what you wish to be true.Answer-as a Christian IKNOW WHAT IS TRUE THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT.
2 As a Christian i am mindful of my actions and the CONSEQENCES AND RESPONSIBILITYS OF THEM that is why I came to the lord and repented my sins for him to show me the way.
3“Treat others as you would want them to treat you and can reasonably expect them to want to be treated. Think about their perspective.”
As a Christian i love my neibour as i love myself and pray for them to come to the lord.
4“We have the responsibility to consider others including future generations.”The same answer as above
5“Leave the world a better place than you found it. ” WELL YOU’V SURE DONE A GOOD JOB THERE my freind. so whos the “nut”
  6. John says:
I agree with you 100% and was wondering the same thing as I read the list. We Christians would accomplish a lot more good in this world if we actually incorporated those you mentioned into our daily life. Most of those are an application of the Golden Rule and the admonition to love our neighbor as ourselves. These are the qualities and characteristics that identify us as disciples of Jesus. I think spoiled, bored, critical, fault-finding-and therefore useless Christians would serve the world better by doing something to help others-or just be kind to everyone- instead of whining about what the atheists are doing. Some of them are actually doing a lot of good.
  7. STL says:
How can a Atheist say God is not a good person, when Atheist do not believe their is a GOD?
  8. Weird that they call them commandments…seem more like vague principles to me.
  9. Believer says:
No one is good but God! Matthew 19:17 We are all sinners and except for the grace of God in Jesus Christ we would be on our way to an eternal Hell. Whatsoever is not of faith is sin! Romans 14:23 Outside of Christ all good works, good intentions, our best efforts seeking to do good amounts to 0. Only Jesus Christ saves and changes lives! Only in Christ does anything we do count! For we are His workmanship created in Christ unto good works which God hath ordained that we should walk in them! Ephesians 2:10
  10. Jim says:
    Love GOD, Love people period!
    • John says:
It’s interesting when you read/listen to the life review of those who have been resuscitated in this regard. While many report encountering Jesus, being shown the nails marks, etc., the main thing they come back with is we are to love everybody, usually after being shown in exquisite detail all the ways they did not in the life they haad lived thus far. Walking a church isle and telling the preacher you have “accepted Jesus as your personal Savior” – an expression found nowhere in the Bible- is easy. Sorry, that doesn’t seem to be our primary mission in life. Everyone will acknowledge Jesus for who he is one day. By all means let’s trust our eternal destiny to his finished work: but we are called to love. As I’ve mentioned before, the activity that identifies us as followers of Jesus- whether we understand it or not, is the love we demonstrate to others, not professions of faith, church attendance, abstaining from drugs/alcohol, giving $ to the church, etc. Some of the most hateful folks I’ve met did all the above. Walk in love and leave the rest undone. Did mot Paul say the following: “All the law is fulfilled in a word, even this, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no harm to his neighbor, therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. That’s the Golden Rule. And to the extent the atheists or anyone else does this they are doing His will.
      • chris johnson says:
        John.
We are to love others sacrificially. Jesus gave the parable of the Good Samaritan as an example of sacrifice for the sake of others, even for those who may care nothing at all for us, or even hate us,
as jesus was sacrificed on the cross for the forgivness of our sins and for the sins of mankind for whoever shall believe.Atheists need our love the love of god to help them understand they are sinners and need to repent for without repentance their love will mean nothing.
  11. Ted Lindblad III says:
Are any of you aware of the Georgia Guidestones? Search the internet for the term if not. These “commandments” are satanically inspired as they elevate mankind rather than elevating God our Creator.
  12. Doomed they are; unless they repent before they are launched into Eternity!
