In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it; and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a stately cedar; and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing, in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. EZEKIEL (17:23)

Shabbat Inspiration

In Ezekiel's vision of hope, he describes a small cedar shoot which will be restored to the high mountain of Jerusalem, providing protection for all those who seek it. In the days of the ultimate redemption, not only will Israel seek out the Lord, but all the nations of the world will come to Zion and acknowledge God's sovereignty. The Temple Mount, as described by the prophets, will be this gathering place for all nations to come and worship God.

The Land is Our Heritage

When telling Moses of His promise to give the nation the land of their forefathers, God calls it a morasha, a heritage, and not a yerusha, an inheritance. This indicates that the people will have to work for the land, and will be responsible to care for it for the sake of future generations.
