'Good Morning America' Endorses President Trump’s Damnation

The media continued its virulent attack on President Donald Trump this weekend, with Good Morning America’s David Wright enthusiastically taking part.
Mischaracterizing the President’s actions as a “fight he picked” with San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, Wright spun the story around so far that he accomplished a complete reversal. In fact, Cruz and Trump had initially exchanged amicably, with the President tweeting, “Thank you to Carmen Yulin Cruz, the Mayor of San Juan, for your kind words on FEMA etc. We are working hard. Much food and water there/on way.” Later, Cruz disparaged the administration, prompting the President’s response to her criticism.
You wouldn’t know that from the headlines, however. Ever intent upon painting Trump as the unhinged and irrational aggressor, ABC ran a story titled “What to Know About Carmen Yulin Cruz, the San Juan Mayor Slammed by Trump.” The Washingon Postasked, “Who is Carmen Yulin Cruz, the San Juan Mayor Trump Blasted?” The Chicago Tribune ran with “Trump Snaps at San Juan Mayor on Twitter After She Criticizes Response…” and “How Trump's Weekend at N.J. Golf Club Slowed Response to Puerto Rico Crisis.”
As for the golfing accusations, which were bolstered by Wright Sunday, completely overlooked was the fact that Trump held a Cabinet meeting—which included Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke, who oversees disaster response—in New Jersey last weekend, and that he had since been in Washington, coordinating with Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosello.
Furthermore, Rosello affirmed Friday that he was pleased with the federal government’s efforts, clarifying, “I have to say that the administration has responded to our petitions. FEMA, [FEMA chief] Brock Long, has been on the phone virtually all the time with me, checking out how things are going.”
Long himself on Sunday pointed out that governmental assistance to the Caribbean territory is “the most logistically challenging event the United States has ever seen.” Despite this caveat, the media is all too ready to declare every move of the Trump administration an exercise in failure and neglect. To this end, GMA’s Wright trumpeted a tweet referencing Mayor Cruz by Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the musical Hamilton. Wright fawned:
“And playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted: ‘She has been working 24/7. You have been golfing. You're going straight to Hell. Fastest golf cart you ever took.’”
Imagine ABC favorably showcasing such a message about Obama. Use all your imagination; you’ll need it.
