Gonna be kind of hard to respect you now that she’s dead.

A Muslim father living in Cleveland, Ohio, was sentenced to 22 years in prison for shooting his daughter last year in an honor killing that was in accordance with Islamic law.
Jamal Mansour, 64, was upset with his 27-year-old daughter because he felt she disrespected his authority. His daughter, Tahani Mansour, was his youngest of seven and was working as a pharmacist. She apparently still lived at home and the two regularly argued about her room being a constant mess; with half-eaten food under her bed and clothing scattered about. But perhaps worst of all, Tahani had a non-Muslim boyfriend she had been seeing for a month that she worked hard to keep secret.
County Prosecutor Andrew Rogalski said, “When she was with him, she had to pretend like she was with other people. She was worried about what would happen if he found out."
Before the shooting, Mr. Mansour, who owns several gas stations, was in Jerusalem for a month for reasons unspecified in the report. Tahani stayed behind but her father found out she didn’t sleep at their home while he was away. Soon after he returned, Tahini came home after midnight one evening, which set off an argument. Tahini “brushed him off” and retired to her bedroom.
According to the report, Mansour at some point “grabbed the gun he often took with him while making large bank deposits” and went to her room.
“If she doesn’t respect me, then she’ll respect this,” the father told investigators.
Once he was in her room, Mansour pulled the trigger twice as she slept in her bed; “once in the back of the head and once in the left side of her face.” She later died during brain surgery.
During his sentencing, Mansour cried, as seen in the video above. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault. Mansour had no previous criminal record. Once in 2012, police were called to his home after he threatened to kill himself while his daughter was in Las Vegas on business.
Pamela Geller explains honor killings under Islamic law:
Honor killing and violence is in accordance with Islamic mores and tradition. A recent survey showed that 91 percent of honor killings worldwide are committed by Muslims, and 84 percent of honor killings in the United States were done by Muslims. This is no surprise. A manual of Islamic law approved by Al-Azhar, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, stipulates that “retaliation is obligatory…against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” However, “not subject to retaliation” is “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” In other words, Islamic law sets no penalty for a parent who kills his child. Also, the legal codes of Jordan, Syria, and other Muslim countries have substantially reduced penalties for honor murders as compared to other murders, and Islamic clerics have resisted efforts to stiffen penalties for honor killings.
