Pro-life group pressures Apple to restore app: launches petition

CUPERTINO, California, October 26, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – A pro-life tech pioneer is starting a petition drive to pressure one of the largest computer companies in the world into reinstating its mobile app.

Human Coalition (HC) created a mobile app in 2013 that sends pro-life prayer alerts to help women considering abortion to choose life. The anonymous alerts are in real time, based on contacts made at HC’s women centers and connected crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs).
The pro-life mobile app was available for Android devices in the Google Play Store (with a near five-star rating) and for iOS in the Apple App Store. But then abortion activists launched an aggressive defamatory campaign targeted specifically against HC.
HC was accused of violating privacy, and even went so far as to include specific protests against HC in the Netroots Nations conference, sponsored in part by Google and Facebook.
As a result, according to HC, the app was abruptly withdrawn by Apple. The tech giant said HC’s mobile app did not meet their standards, but HC demonstrated that in fact their product exceeded Apple’s requirements.
