Hillary Dumps 1500-Word Defense of Protecting Sex Harassing Staffer

After ten years of silence, Hillary Clinton finally addressed the fact that she mishandled an incident of sexual harassment during her 2008 campaign when she protected the accused staffer from harsh punishment. She must’ve been thinking about this for some time, because it took her 1,500 words to explain herself.
This particular skeleton in her closet was brought to light by The New York Times last week in its story on how Clinton’s former aide, Burns Strider, was accused of inappropriate conduct with a 30-year-old female staffer. Everyone surrounding Clinton told her to fire Strider. Instead, she docked him a few paychecks and sent him to counseling. The victim, on the other hand, was reassigned to another office and forced to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Clinton and Strider, who was married at the time of the sexual misconduct, have remained friends.
Laughingly, Clinton starts off her Facebook post like this: “The most important work of my life has been to support and empower women.” In fact, she has a pretty bad history with that, especially when it comes to her husband’s accusers or in this case, her employees. But she doesn’t let a little thing like that get in the way of her posturing.
Clinton explains that she “didn’t think firing him was the best solution to the problem” and that she “also believe[s] in second chances.” Strider got one, and there were no further complaints about him during the remainder of the campaign. However, years later, Strider was fired from another job for engaging in “inappropriate behavior.” Now, Clinton regrets her earlier decisions.
“If I had it to do again, I wouldn’t,” she said, before explaining away that it was a different time back then and turning in sexual predators wasn’t as much on the mind. She also boldly blamed the NYT for having one in their midst while reporting on her mistakes. How desperately deflecting!
What makes this whole charade even worse is the timing of Clinton’s post — published just before President Trump’s State of the Union address, when every news outlet would be focused on his shortcomings instead of hers. Smooth move, Hill, smooth move.
“I'm impressed,” wrote Sonny Bunch at The Washington Free Beacon. “It takes some guts to publish a 1,500-word Facebook post 20 minutes before the State of the Union explaining why you, Hillary Clinton, feminist hero, didn't fire a dude for sexually harassing one of your young female staffers despite the fact that everyone in your campaign told you to get rid of him ASAP. It's kind of like, I dunno, trading for a new franchise quarterback in the middle of the Cavalcade of Horrors section of Donald Trump's speech.”
Apparently, she just wants this all to go away. The rest of us, like Bunch said, want Hillary to, "Just. Go. A. Way."
