| | Animal Rescue News | | Shelters Struggle with COVID-19 ImpactsAnimal shelters and rescue groups all over the world continue to struggle with the effects of COVID-19. That’s why SPCA International is proud to be providing emergency support to dozens of groups on the front lines of rescuing, feeding and sheltering animals. One group, Sneha’s Care in Nepal, recently shared their tough reality. Though every shelter is different, their story gives us a glimpse into the multiple impacts that COVID-19 is having on shelter and rescue groups. Sneha’s Care feeds and provides medical treatment for thousands of street animals each year in Nepal and brings those most in need to their shelter. Right now, they are struggling to continue operating. COVID-19 has made it impossible for international volunteers to reach them, has affected donations in Nepal and from abroad and has created a higher need than ever before as people struggle to care for animals. |

| Special Rescue Flight: Behind the ScenesIn August, SPCA International completed its most complicated rescue mission in history. Due to COVID-19 airport closures and travel restrictions, dozens of animals were stuck at a staging point in Iraq for months. With no commercial flights operating, we began contacting airlines directly to see if they could help with a special flight. Most airlines simply couldn’t, but amazingly we found one willing to fly and arranged this special flight for the battle buddy cats and dogs that had been waiting months to reunite with their soldiers. In the latest installment of the Executive Director blog, Meredith Ayan takes us behind the scenes of this incredible rescue. | | Stay connected with us on social media! | | | Please help our animal population - have your pets spayed or neutered!. | |
