MONTGOMERY, Ala. (ChurchMilitant.com) - Groups that promote natural marriage are being smeared as hateful by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
SPLC is confirming this in its annual 2020 publication called the "Year in Hate and Extremism 2020." Joining Church Militant and 838 other organizations on SPLC's list are the Alliance Defending Freedom, C-FAM, Liberty Counsel and the Ruth Institute, reports Catholic News Agency.
"We really are in a very serious combat for the institution of marriage," said Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse.
All these groups defend the dignity of human life and oppose so-called same-sex marriage.
"Checks started pouring in and [SPLC] went 'wow, this fighting hate thing is profitable,'" said one observer.
The SPLC considers itself a watchdog group against organizations that promote hate. The Center's Hate Ideology Map includes the categories of "anti-LGBT," "Christian identity" and "radical traditional Catholicism," among others.
The SPLC's leftist worldview, claim its critics, conflates the rejection of disordered behaviors with the hatred of people.
For example:
- The Ruth Institute's primary focus is the breakdown of the family and its impact on children
- The Liberty Counsel is a Christian ministry dedicated to defending religious freedom, the sanctity of human life and the family
- C-FAM, or Center for Family and Human Rights, is a research institute dedicated to defending the family and national sovereignty from harmful international policies
"It's all about the sexual revolution and imposing the sexual revolution on the Western world," said C-FAM president Austin Ruse.
But like Church Militant, these organizations are classified as hate groups for simply spreading the truth about the nature of marriage and family.
Notably missing from SPLC's hate group list are Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA, both admitting to their weighty roles in last summer's rioting, looting and destroying of property. Police groups have called them terrorist organizations.
Objective observers note that while SPLC seeks to defend those who suffer injustice, its progressive ideology blurs its vision. And this often leads them to call defenders of truth, goodness and the natural order "hate groups."

Strange that ALL Catholic Churches, ALL Southern Baptists houses of worship and ALL Muslim mosques are not on the list as they are against homosexuality according to their beliefs.

The SPLC will next groups that oppose pedophilia and grooming of children as "hate groups".
There is no attack on marriage. There is no law in the United States forcing any religious organization to perform or bless a same-sex marriage. There is no attack on marriage.

The primary reason (originally)for the state to endorse marriage is/was for procreation, to replenish the population. By endorsing same-sex marriage, that does not meet that condition (a priori). Sure, adoption is an option, but children that are adopted have (according to studies) been more susceptible to: not doing well in school, experiencing higher rates of mental illness, bad behaviours, earn less income than non-adopted children. Also, this is exaserbated by the higher rates of divorce of same-sex couples (Scandanavian studies as that region has had a longer time to assess that issue) undermines marriage as a stable force in society which further impacts the rearing of children.

There is no law YET. The Marxists are fighting hard to stop people from living their faith. Have you heard of the SCOTUS case of the baker who refused to bake a cake for a sodomite "marriage"? Or have you had your head buried in the sand for that long?
If people do not study Scripture and listen to man, because they are lazy they will miss truth. That will cost them dearly in the end. In the end who will win, God that say d as I say or mankind that says do as you want. To know what God wants one must study His word, other wise you will be cutting your own throat.
Can't all those Catholic groups/organizations create an umbrella organization and declare groups like the SPLC a hate organization? Tit for tat....only it actually deserves that title.
Will the Vatican defend traditional Catholicism or use the SPLC to get rid of it? Hmmmm....
Sadly, there will be many religious from the Vatican and in the wider Church who will support the evil of SPLC - they share similar beliefs - marxism, contraception, abortion and sodomy - birds of a feather...
